Swami Vivekananda Scholarship is a scholarship scheme to assist meritorious students coming from economically backward families in West Bengal, who are pursuing higher studies. The scheme is being run by the Department of Higher Education of the West Bengal Government.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Eligibility

To receive a scholarship under this scheme, there are mainly three criteria –

  • Residence: – The candidate must be a resident of West Bengal.
  • Family Income: – To apply for this scheme, the total family income of the candidate should not be more than Rs. 2,50,000 per annum.

 

  • Merit: –
    • For Higher Secondary level students: –

      1. The candidate should have passed Madhyamik from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
      2. Minimum 60% marks in aggregate in Madhyamik Pariksha.

 

    • For Under Graduate level students: –

      1. Candidate should have passed Higher Secondary from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education/Madrasha Siksha Parishad.
      2. Minimum 60% marks in aggregate in Higher Secondary Examination.

 

    • For Post Graduate level students: –

      1. Minimum 53% marks in Honours subject at the graduation level.
      2. Kanyashree recipients (K-2) (married/unmarried) pursuing Post Graduate courses from Universities of West Bengal after obtaining Under Graduate Degree with 45% marks in aggregate from Institutions of West Bengal.

 

    • For Diploma Courses (Polytechnic under DTE&T) level Students

      1. Students who are enrolled after passing out in Secondary (M.P) examination or its equivalent in 2022 for first year Diploma (Polytechnic) course [H.S. Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in 3-D Animations & Graphics or Pharmacy or Modern Office Practice and Management of two years duration] and after passing out in “West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development “ courses, which is equivalent to H.S Examination for 2nd year Diploma(Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis, will be eligible to apply. Candidates must obtain at least 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination for applying the scholarship [excluding the marks secured in the optional elective subject, if any].

    • For Research Level Students: –

      1. The financial assistance will be admissible to those non-NET candidates and NET-LS candidates registered as full time M.Phil. or Ph.D. research scholars as on 01/04/2017 or on a date thereafter, with effect from 01/04/2017 and (subject to the overall time limit of two years for M.Phil. and four years for Ph.D.) up till the day of submission of the Dissertation and no further. Further, NET-LS scholars shall stop receiving assistance from the day they are appointed as teachers and it shall be their duty to inform the University authorities of the same. and the same shall be informed forthwith to this Department.

Point to be noted – Candidates opting for these scholarships and found eligible, will not be allowed to enjoy any other governmental (central/state) scholarship or stipend for the same course/stage of study.

Documents required to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

The following documents will be required to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship –

  1. Marksheet of last qualifying examination
  2. Domicile Certificate – Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/Ration Card etc.
  3. Marksheet of Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent
  4. Income certificate of family
  5. Candidate’s photo
  6. Candidate’s signature
  7. Admission proof of the current pursuing course
  8. Scanned copy of Bank Passbook (1st Page, containing A/C No. and IFSC)

 

 

How to Apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship?

Follow the below steps to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship –

  • Step 1 – Registration: –
    • Click the link given below.
    • Then tick the declaration checkbox.
    • Now click “Proceed for Registration’’
    • A new page will be opened now. Choose the course for which you want to get scholarship.
    • Now enter all the details as asked in the application, viz. Details of Last Eligible Qualifying Board/Council/University Examination, Present Course of Study, Basic details.
    • Then choose a password and click on Register.
    • After that an OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Validate the OTP. Then your application id will be shown. Note it down for future references

 

 

  • Step 2 – Online Application
    • After that, again go back to the application link given below and click on ‘Applicant Login’
    • Login by entering Application ID, Password, and captcha.
    • Then upload candidate’s photo (20KB-50KB) and signature (10KB-20KB).

 

  • Step 3 – Document Upload
    • Now, you have to enter several details – like the father’s name, mother’s name, Address, Aadhaar Card number, Bank Account details, etc.
    • Then you have to upload all the documents as stated above in the ‘required documents‘ section.

 

  • Step 4 – Submission
    • Finally, preview the application and click on Submit Application.

How to apply for renewal of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship?

Kindly note that only the sanctioned applicants of the previous year are eligible to apply for Renewal. To renew your application, you don’t need to register yourself again. Just login to the application portal by entering your application id and password and follow the instructions.
