Days Gone All Nero Research Site Locations (Stat Upgrades)

Days Gone has 18 Nero Research Sites. They give you Nero Injector stat upgrades to increase Health, Stamina and Focus. This guide shows all Days Gone Research Site Locations.

As an added bonus you’ll find one Nero Intel at each of these sites to help you get a higher completion rate.

The way you’d normally unlock the Research Sites on the map is to capture the Ambush Camps. This will give you at least on Nero Research Site on the map. Then listen to the Nero Intel from that Research Site and it will give you the next Research Location. Repeat for all other regions. Of course with this guide you can skip all that and head straight to the marked spot. When you get close to the Research Site it will get marked on the world map.

Most of them are either in Freaker Caves or require you to make long jumps with the motorcycle. Go to the caves at night (at day the Freakers sleep in there and would kill you). For the bike jumps you should first get a Nitrous Upgrade. If a jump is too far get better upgrades to increase your top speed.

None of these are missable! After the story there’s free-roam and you can go back to all regions and finish up any side activities and collectibles you have left. It’s worth noting that there are two temporary points of no return. One at the end of 3rd region “Lost Lake” and one more at the end of 5th region “Crater Lake”. This will lock you out of some regions until the end of the story. Then after the story the whole map opens up again.

Cascade Region

Nero Research Site #1: Found at the end of a dark cave. Go here at night. At day there will be Freakers inside.

Nero Research Site #2: Located underground, inside the cave where you eavesdropped on a Nero Scientist after the story mission in the graveyard. Go here at night because at day Freakers are hiding inside.

Nero Research Site #3: Found at the end of a bridge.

Nero Research Site #4: This requires you to use nitrous boost with your bike and jump over a cliff to a hill with a crashed helicopter. If your bike isn’t fast enough get all upgrades from the 3rd region Lost Lake.

Belknap Region

Nero Research Site #5: This one requires a bike jump with nitrous boost. Then you find the research site on top of a hill. If your bike isn’t fast enough get all upgrades from the 3rd region Lost Lake.

Nero Research Site #6: Found inside a Freaker Cave. Come here at night.

Lost Lake Region

Nero Research Site #7: Found just outside a cave.

Nero Research Site #8: This requires a bike jump to a cliff with a crashed helicopter. If your bike isn’t fast enough get all upgrades from the 3rd region Lost Lake.

Iron Butte Region

Nero Research Site #9: In the southern Iron Butte Ambush Camp you can bike jump across a cliff with nitrous boost to reach this reasearch site. If your bike isn’t fast enough get all upgrades from the 3rd region Lost Lake.

Crater Lake Region

Nero Research Site #10: Found inside mine. You will first enter this mine during a story mission in Crater Lake region, so if it’s not reachable yet you must advance the story further until you go there.

Nero Research Site #11: Found on top of a mountain.

Nero Research Site #12: Located at a cave entrance.

Nero Research Site #13: Found inside a house. You go to this house during one of the last few story mission “This Could Be It”.

Nero Research Site #14: Found on an island. Requires a very long bike jump across a cliff with nitrous. If your bike isn’t fast enough get the upgrades from the 4th camp called Diamond Lake.

Highway 97 Region

Nero Research Site #15: Found inside a cave.

Nero Research Site #16: Found inside a small cave.

Nero Research Site #17: Found on an island. Requires you to first bike jump to an island in the middle of the river and from there jump over to the 2nd island. If your bike is not yet fast enough get the upgrades from the 4th camp called Diamond Lake.

Nero Research Site #18: The final Nero Research is found under a bridge and is easy to get.

That’s all of the Nero Research Site Locations in Days Gone and how you can reach them. After you found all of these and the Nero Checkpoints you will have maxed out all 3 of your stats: Health, Stamina, Focus.

Cascade Region NERO Checkpoints and Research Sites :

There are three NERO Checkpoints and four NERO Research Sites in the Cascade region. All liberated NERO Checkpoints provide fast travel stations, have a NERO Injector enhancing Health , Stamina or Focus and will have gasoline cans for refueling. NERO Research Sites will have a NERO Injector , a recorder yielding information about NERO activities and most have a gasoline can for fueling.

Cascade NERO Checkpoints :

Little Bear NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 2 at 46m) This NERO Checkpoint i s embedded in the mission, Bugged The Hell Out detailed in Section 2: He Can't Be Far.

Horse Lake NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 3 at 18m) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 3: Smoke On The Mountain.

Old Pioneer NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 3 at 38m) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 3: Smoke On The Mountain.

Cascade NERO Research Sites :

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 4-2 at 46m 30s) This site is located in the east central margin of the Cascade region, southeast of the Infestation at the High Desert Logging Co . The site is revealed by clearing the Horse Lake Ambush Camp , which is just north of the Research Site . Ride east along the railway track past the logging camp and across the railway bridge to find a makeshift campsite where you'll find the case with the NERO injector and recorder. There is usually little or no opposition at the remote site. The site also has a gas can and other resources to raid.

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 6 at 56m 20s) This site is located about 320 meters southeast of Copeland's Camp and it will require jumping a gulch to reach the NERO chopper's crash site. You'll need an upgraded engine and the nitrous upgrade to make that jump from the dirt path northwest of the crash site. The case with the NERO Injector , the recorder and a gas can are at the site.

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 6 at 47m 15s) This site is located in a the cave where you encounter O'Brian in the mission, They're Not Sleeping . This mission is detailed in Section 3: Smoke On The Mountain. It is deep inside the cave strewn with the filth found in caves where the Freaks hibernate. This site is best visited after the chopper departs and the roaming Freaks near the Old Pioneer Cemetery Infestation nest site are cleared. Beware of the horde that hibernates there during the daytime. (video in Section 6

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 6 at 44m 20s) This site is inside The White King Mine where a small horde hibernates and is best visited at night when they are foraging elsewhere. The mine is located in the extreme northwest region of Cascade , about 375 meters northwest of the Horse Lake NERO Checkpoint , on the high ground above the Marion Forks Tunnel . Belknap Region NERO Checkpoints and Research Sites :

There are two NERO Checkpoints and two NERO Research Sites in this region. All liberated NERO Checkpoints provide fast travel stations, have a NERO Injector enhancing Health , Stamina or Focus and will have gasoline cans for refueling.

Belknap NERO Checkpoints :

Iron Butte NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 6 at 31m 30s) This NERO Checkpoint is located west of Crazy Willies and southeast of the Hot Springs Camp . Stop about 90 meters short of the site and scout from the overlook. The fenced site is occupied by eight or nine Rippers. A couple will be on watch on the roofs of the buildings and the others will frequently be battling wolves and Freaks. Snipe the rooftop sentries and any outliers before dropping down and moving around the outskirts to snipe the defenders.

The site has seven speakers. There are two speakers on both of the two NERO buildings. Both of the north end guard huts have a speaker and another speaker is on the light tower near the south gate. A gas can is located near the fence on the northeast side of the compound. You must repair the generator to energize the doors. (video in Section 6 at

Storyline: World's End . Rewards: 1,000 XP, 750 trust, 1,200 credits.

Marion Forks Tunnel NERO Checkpoint: (video in Section 4-2 at 4m) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 4: Price On Your Head.

Belknap NERO Research Sites :

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 6 at 57m 30s) This is the southernmost of the two markers on the western margin of the Belknap region. This is about 400 meters due west of Hot Springs Camp . There will likely be roaming Freaks and perhaps a pack of wolves in the area. You'll need an upgraded bike with the nitrous boost to jump the gap. Speed west on the dirt path where there is a gap in the rock wall. Boost over the gap. Once you make the jump, skirt afoot counterclockwise around the outcropping and climb the ledge to reach the crash site where you'll find the case with the NERO Injector , the recorder and a gas can.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 6 at 42m 10s) This NERO Research Site marker is on the western margin of the Belknap region; this is about 430 meters northwest of Hot Springs Camp. It is revealed by taking the Bear Creek Hot Springs Ambush Camp . Ride to the area at night to avoid the horde that hibernates in the cave during daytime. There will likely still be Freaks in the area even during the nighttime. The NERO Research Site is located deep inside a cave whose entry is about 75 meters east of the marker near a small pond.

Lost Lake Region NERO Checkpoints and Research Sites :

There are two NERO Checkpoints and two NERO Research Sites in the Lost Lake region.

Lost Lake NERO Checkpoints :

Old Sawmill NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 8 at 38m 20s) This NERO Checkpoint is located about 475 meters southeast of camp and it sits alongside the Old Sawmill where a horde hibernates inside the big machine building. Disabling the sites seven speakers, therefore, is essential. Enter the double fenced compound through the open northeast gate and disable the speaker on the guard shack.There are two speakers on each of the two NERO buildings. Another speaker is on the light tower in the center of the facility. The seventh speaker is located on a light tower outside and south of the facility. This one is partially obscured by the trees. Shoot the elevated speakers on the light towers with a suppressed weapon. A gas can is located near the dozer near the buildings and another in the northwest Quonset Hut. Fuel and start the generator to energize the doors. Enter and find the recorder and the Nero Injector in the case.,

Storyline: World's End . Rewards: 1,500 XP, 350 trust, 1,900 credits.

Santiam Tunnel NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 8 at 46m) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 8: Now You See It with the Berley Lake Infestation , one of whose nests must be burned to energize the NERO building's door locks.

Lost Lake NERO Research Sites :

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 9 at 50m 30s) This site is located on the northeast margin of the region, just south of the Cascade region. Go during the daytime when the horde is hibernating in the cave near the site. There will be Freaks foraging in the area north of the railroad tracks. The site is on a low rock shelf near the cave's entry.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 11 at 22m 30s) This site is on the southeast margin of the map, south of the Deerborn Ambush Camp and about 400 meters due east of the Old Sawmill NERO Checkpoint. You'll need an upgraded bike with a nitrous boost to jump the gap as you ride toward the marker. You'll need to duck under the fallen tree to get the NERO Injector . There is also a recorder and a gas can at the site.

Crater Lake Region NERO Checkpoints and NERO Research Sites:

There are two NERO Checkpoints and five NERO Research Sites in this region.

Crater Lake NERO Checkpoints :

Spruce Lake NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 18 at 00m) This NERO Checkpoint is at the same site as the Spruce Lake Ambush Camp . Both are detailed in Section 18: Afraid Of A Little Competition.

Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway NERO Checkpoint: (video in Section 16-2 at 43m 20s) This site is embedded in Section 17: We Will Take Back This World in the mission Never Give Up Hope .

Crater Lake NERO Research Sites :

NERO Research Site : (video in S17 at 19m 25s) You'll find this site during the Encampment Job, Keeping Souvenirs , which is detailed in Section 17: We Will Take Back This World.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 17 at 16m) You'll find the site during the mission, Leave All That By The Door , which is detailed in Section 17: We Will Take Back This World.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 21 at 11m) You'll find this site inside the house during the mission, This Could Be It , to obtain a Newt test subject for Sarah. This is detailed in Section 21: This Could Be It. It is located southwest of Wizard Island Camp on the main east-west roadway.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 19 at 50m 10s) This site is located due west of Diamond Lake Camp. It is the southernmost of the two "X" markers. This is on the extreme eastern margin of Crater Lake territory. Drive north along the rock wall on the slope above the roadway and you'll find a blood trail winding southwest. Follow it past the cave to the remote campsite with the recorder and the case with the NERO Injector . Beware of Freaks in the area. The Mount Bailey horde circulates in this area.

NERO Research Site : (video in Section 19 at 35m 50s) This site is located east of Wizard Island Camp on a small island. You'll need to have your bike's engine upgraded and nitrous installed to make the jump required to reach the island. There is a small rock ramp on the south side of the island that you must hit at speed to reach the island. The crash site with the recorder and the case with the NERO Injector is farther inland. You can make the jump to the mainland beyond the site, but you can also just fast travel away.

Highway 97 Region NERO Checkpoints and Research Sites :

There are two NERO Checkpoints and four NERO Research Sites in the region.

Chemult Community College NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 22 at 47m) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 22: The Anarchist Spy.

Pilette Bridge NERO Checkpoint : (video in Section 19 at 54m 30s ) This NERO Checkpoint is embedded in Section 18: Afraid Of A Little Competition.

Highway 97 NERO Research Sites :

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 16-2 at 51m) This site is embedded in Section 17: We Will Take Back World. It is in a cave, up the grade southwest of the Aspen Butte Ambush Camp.

NERO Research Site: (video in Section 22 at 21m) This site is located in a shallow cave 350 meters due east of the Aspen Butte Ambush Camp.

NERO Research Site: This site is located in the southern area of the Highway 97 region, 400 meters southeast of the Pillette Bridge NERO Checkpoint. It is under the fractured bridge, alongside the stream, on the south side of the lake, sitting on a container near the recorder.

NERO Research Site : You'll need an upgraded bike to reach this site. This crash site is located on a small island in the southeastern region of Highway 97 on the north end of the bay. Get to the northwest side of the marker where you must make a jump over the deep water and then boost again to the larger island. Ride through the gully to reach the crash site to obtain the recorder, which is on the dead NERO agent, and the NERO Injector . You can fast travel away or jump to the mainland from the crash site.

Days Gone Nero Research Sites Location Guide – Where to find All Nero Research Sites

In this Days Gone Nero Research Sites Location Guide, we will detail all the locations of the Nero Research Sites that you can go to. In total there are 18 Nero Research Sites in the game, and each gives you Nero Injector which helps to increase your Health, Focus and Stamina stats. Finding all of them will max out your health.

To first begin with, you have to capture Ambush Camps. These will give you at least one Nero Research site on the map. Once you go to the Research Site, you have to listen to the Nero Intel to learn about the next Nero Research Site location.

In total, there are 18 Nero Research Sites. Instead of looking around for each, we have marked all the locations of the Nero Intel Research Sites, so you can save time and go to them directly.

Most of the Research Sites are inside Freaker Caves, while some require you to make big jumps with your bike to reach them. If you are going for the ones in the Freaker Caves, its best to go at night when the Freakers will be out hunting instead. At the day time, Freakers are usually found sleeping in the caves.

The locations which require you to make big jumps can be done so with your bike. That too if you have the Nitrous upgrade equipped on it. If you struggle to make a jump, that means you have to upgrade your bike further for more speed.

Days Gone Nero Research Sites Locations Guide

Below are all the locations of the Nero Research Sites in the regions they are found. The locations are all marked on the map images.

Belknap Region

All the Nero Research Sites in Belknap Region are detailed below:

Nero Research Site #1

Go to the marked location on the map. To reach the site you will require your bike with the Nitrous equipped on it. The site will be on top of a hill. Make sure your bike is fast enough to make the jump. If it is not, get all the upgrades from the Lost Lake region.

Nero Research Site #2

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is inside a Freaker Cave, and it is best to approach this at night.

Cascade Region

All the Nero Research Site in the Cascade Region are detailed below:

Nero Research Site #3

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research site will be found at the end of the dark Freaker Cave. Its best to come for this at night when the cave is empty.

Nero Research Site #4

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is will be underground, and inside the cave where you eavesdrop on a Nero Scientist after the story mission in the graveyard. Its best to come here at night as this is a Freaker Cave.

Nero Research Site #5

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is will be at the end of a bridge in this location.

Nero Research Site #6

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site will can only be reached with your bike with the Nitrous equipped on it. once at the location, jump over a cliff towards the hill that has a crashed helicopter on it.

Lost Lake Region

All the Nero Research Sites in the Lost Lake region are detailed below:

Nero Research Site #7

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site will be found just outside of the cave.

Nero Research Site #8

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site will require you to jump on your bike. This cliff has a crashed helicopter where the site will be.

Iron Butte Region

Nero Research Site at the Iron Butte region is detailed below:

Nero Research Site #9

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is at the southern Iron Butte Ambush Camp, from where you can jump across the cliff with your bike. The jump requires your bike to be equipped with the Nitrous upgrade.

Crater Lake Region

All the Nero Research Sites in the Crater Lake region are detailed below:

Nero Research Site #10

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is located inside a mine. You also enter this mine during a story mission when you are in the region.

Nero Research Site #11

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is located on the top of a mountain.

Nero Research Site #12

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is located at the cave entrance.

Nero Research Site #13

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site will be inside a house. You can also go to this house during one of the last story mission called “This Could Be It.”

Nero Research Site #14

Go to the marked location on the map. The Research Site is on an island. This is a big jump and you should have the nitrous equipped on your bike, and decent speed upgrades as well. If your bike is not fast enough, you can get upgrades from Diamond Lake camp.

Days Gone: Highway 97 Nero Intel Collectibles Locations

Six Days Gone Highway 97 Nero Intel Collectibles can also be found in the fifth region of the video game developed by Bend Studio  for  PlayStation 4 ; thus we have created the following locations guide and map to help you discover them.

Highway 97 Nero Intel Locations Map

The following guide covers all Nero Recorders in the Highway 97 Region and provides an in-depth approach for each collectible.

The guide follows the same order as the one on our map, thus it will help you track every Nero Intel in Highway 97.

Intel 1 – Field Recording – 2011

Location: The first Days Gone Highway 97 Intel Collectible on our map is located inside a tunnel southwest of Aspen Butte Ambush Camp .

This tunnel can be used as an infiltration point to the said Ambush Camp and it’s also a Nero Research Site . The recorder is sitting next to the Nero Injector.

Intel 2 – Flight Data Recording – 1377

Location: The second Days Gone Nero Intel on our map above is at another Research Site, which requires you to perform not one, but two bike jumps.

From the crossroad near the gas station, you’ll have to boost your bike and land on a small island, then jump again to a larger island where you can find a helicopter wreck.

The collectible can be seen next to a dead Nero Scientist by a large rock. Grab it, but don’t leave the area without the IPCA Tech found in the middle of the crash site on the corpse of a white-suited scientist.

Intel 3 – Researcher Field Note – 2020

Location: Another Intel Recorder Collectible is east of Aspen Butte Ambush Camp, in a cave we have marked on our map.

This is, yet again an accessible collectible because its location is at a Research Site. Look for it near the white crate with the Nero Injector.

Intel 4 – Researcher Field Note – 1005

Location: The fourth Days Gone Highway 97 Recorder is also inside a Research Site.

At the location we have marked, you’ll find a broken bridge. Look under it, for the Nero Injector and the Intel on the left side (as pictured).

Intel 5 – Mobile Medical Unit Recording – 1685

Location: The fifth collectible is inside Pillette Bridge Nero Checkpoint . Look for it after you unlock the checkpoint, inside the MMU building.

You’ll spot it on a counter, opposed to the sink.

Intel 6 – Mobile Medical Unit Recording – 0805

Location: The sixth Days Gone Nero Intel Collectible, is found inside Chemult Community College Nero Checkpoint .

You’ll find it in the western MMU Building; however, this is a very dangerous zone. Make sure you follow our guide and disable all MMU Speakers because a large Horde is also found at this location.

The recorder is found on a counter, but you should check all 3 MMU buildings because there are multiple Crafting Materials to be found here.

Days Gone: Tips for Reaching NERO Research Sites

While exploring the world of Days Gone, you may come across markers indicating the location of NERO Research Sites on the map. However, reaching them can be challenging. In this guide, we will provide you with tips on how to find the most common types of research sites.

If you reach the marker and cannot see any buildings, it means that you have found a NERO Research Site that serves as a starting point. These sites should be explored just like the main Nero Checkpoints. Moreover, research sites often contain injectors that can permanently enhance the hero’s stats.

There are two main types of NERO Research Sites. The first type is NERO research camps located inside caves. If you cannot find anything at the indicated location, search the surroundings for a cave entrance.

During the day, many caves are inhabited by hordes of Freakers, making it impossible to explore. Wait until nightfall for the horde to leave the cave before venturing inside.

Turn on your flashlight (lower direction button on the cross pad) and explore the cave carefully. You should eventually come across a small camp and a white box containing an injector.

The second type of NERO Research Sites are research points located behind small precipices. To reach these sites, equip Deacon’s motorcycle with nitro. Refer to our separate guide on “How to Unlock Nitro?” under the Motorcycle section.

Look for a place to jump near the research point and point your bike towards it with nitro enabled. This will allow you to safely jump to the other side.

Finding your way to the camp should not be difficult. Upon arrival, locate the white box and retrieve the syringe from it.

NERO Research Site is a location in the game Days Gone that is essential for players to progress through the story. In Days Gone Hordes are huge gatherings of zombie-like Freakers, sometimes hundreds strong - and are perhaps the most daunting thing to come across in the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Oregon.

However, slaying them earns you considerable Days Gone Horde rewards including trust, experience points and, if you can take every single horde out, the St. John Horde Killer Custom Skin for your motorcycle.

How Horde locations work and tips to beat Hordes in Days Gone

There are 40 different Freaker hordes spread across five of the game's six regions. You'll have to beat three of them during the main campaign, leaving the other 37 roaming the world.

Once the credits have rolled on the main story, every horde will be highlighted on the map.

Your best bet for tackling hordes is strategically planning out each attack. The individual Freakers inside a horde move with great speed towards Deacon, ripping him to pieces if they catch up with him.

Throwable explosives such as frag grenades and molotov cocktails combined with lots of running and machine gun fire is usually the best strategy for killing every individual Freaker in a given horde.

Additionally, Freaker Hordes vary in strength. The further down this list you go, the bigger the hordes tend to be with the Highway 97 region home to the largest and most dangerous hordes.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #1 Location (Grotto Caves Horde)

Locate the Old Pioneer Cemetery Nero Checkpoint at the north-eastern most point of the Cascade Wilderness map. From this checkpoint, head west until you come across a car park situated at the top of a hill. Follow the slope down the other side and you'll come across the mouth of a cave. The horde emerges from these caves once night falls.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #2 Location (White King Mine Horde)

This horde roams an area at the northwest section of the Cascade Wilderness map, almost directly west from the Grotto Caves Horde and the Jefferson Rail Tunnel Ambush camp. At night the horde can be found in a dry river bed by a small bridge, in the day they sleep in the nearby cave.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #3 Location (Death Train Horde)

Head to the Horse Lake Nero Checkpoint to find this horde. Inside the train carriages that sit abandoned on the tracks just north of the Nero Checkpoint you'll be able to find a sleeping horde. During the night they wander over to the dig site just east from the NERO trailer.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #4 Location (Horse Lake Horde)

Head northeast on the road from the Horse Lake NERO Checkpoint until you come across a series of cave mouths on the left side of the tarmac. Look for the cave mouth that is adorned with branches and blood, venture inside to find the horde.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #5 Location (O'Leary Mountain Horde)

Locate the O'Leary Mountain Safehouse (it's the same watchtower that Boozer stays in during the first few hours of the game) and head directly north, heading down the mountain track. The O'Leary Mountain Horde are living in a cave that cuts through the base of the mountain.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #6 Location (Little Bear Lake Horde)

Head to the Little Bear Lake Nero Checkpoint but, before you enter the camp, take the left turn onto the dirt track by the abandoned car and the speed limit sign. Follow this winding track downhill until you come across a wooden shack, during the day the horde hibernate in here.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #7 Location (Cascade Highway Horde)

From the Horse Creek Ambush Camp travel north until you pass underneath the steel railway bridge. This horde moves along the lip of the river and can be found in three locations. Underneath the railway bridge, by the water's edge, or descending towards the river from the hill slightly further north.

Cascade Wilderness Horde #8 Location (Proxy Falls Horde)

From the Horse Creek Ambush Camp cross the large stone bridge next to the waterfall. As you continue to walk south you'll eventually spot a large cave, the entrance strewn with branches and blood. The horde responsible is waiting for you just inside.

Here's where all the Belknap Horde locations at a glance:

Belknap Horde #1 Location (Shadow Lake Horde)

Enter the Belknap region through the Marion Forks Tunnel or fast travel to the Marion Forks NERO Checkpoint. Once here, you need to drive north towards the large lake situated at the top of the Belknap region map. The horde lives inside a cave at the northmost point of the lake, only venturing out as night falls to drink from the lake.

Belknap Horde #2 Location (Marion Forks Horde)

Locate the town of Marion Forks and then travel directly south from the gas station at the town's centre. Only a short way down the road you'll notice a cave on your left-hand side littered with the tell-tale signs (blood, tree branches) of a nearby horde. The horde lives inside the cave.

Belknap Horde #3 Location (Belknap Crater Horde)

From the Marion Forks Horde continue to head south and you'll come across a series of rocky outcrops and a cave. This location is also south-east of the Belknap Caves Ambush camp if you're having trouble pinpointing the cave mouth. In the day the horde hibernates inside the cavern here.

Belknap Horde #4 Location (The Lava Arch Horde)

At the centre of Belknap stands a giant mountain which divides the region. On the eastern part of the rockface, you'll find the Lava Arch, an arched rock formation that hides the entrance to a cave. Enter the cave and follow the roped-off pathway to locate the horde sheltering inside.

Belknap Horde #5 Location (Twin Craters Horde)

Head to the south-eastern corner of the Belknap map just below the town of Crazy Willies. Follow the main track south and head to the outskirts of the region. At the most southern point of this area, you'll find a cave as well as the horde that lives there.

Belknap Horde #6 Location (Bear Creek Hot Spring Horde)

This horde lives close to the Bear Creek Hot Spring Ambush camp. Exit the ambush camp from the west and drive along the sandy track until you come across a series of caves near a fast running river. The Bear Creek Hot Springs Horde live inside the cave just to the right of the grand waterfall.

Belknap Horde #7 Location (Patjens Lakes Horde)

Exit the Hot Springs camp and drive through the abandoned town until you come to the marble gates. Directly opposite is a large, looming cavemouth. Enter the cave and lure out the horde using the water nearby to slow them down.

Here's where all the Lost Lake Horde locations at a glance:

Lost Lake Horde Location #1 (River Flow Farms Horde)

A medium-sized horde lives in the area just north of Iron Mike's Farm. This horde wanders across both sides of the train tracks either by the cluster of houses to the left of the bales of hay or by the barn that can be seen from Iron Mike's encampment.

Lost Lake Horde Location #2 (Sherman's Camp Horde)

Head to Sherman's camp (situated within the Lost Lake region directly west of Iron Mike's Farm). The town is also home to an infestation zone that you may or may not have cleared during the main campaign. The horde dwells in a shop on the eastern side of the town, so it's best to clear the infestation zone before you face them.

Lost Lake Horde #3 Location (Metolius Lava Cave Horde)

Head north from Iron Mike's encampment towards the forests which separate the Lost Lake region from Cascade Wilderness. You'll eventually come to the Metolius Caves at the top of a rocky outcrop. In the daytime the horde can be found inside these caves, while at night they may wander down the road to the west, to drink from the lake.

Lost Lake Horde #4 Location (Westfir Horde)

Pinpoint Iron Mike's encampment and head west from there, driving down the same main road that you may have fought the Metolius horde on. In the day you're most likely to find this horde near three houses just off the tarmac road, each with a different-coloured roof. At night the horde can be found near the petrol station just before the tunnel leading to the Iron Butte region.

Lost Lake Horde #5 Location (Wapinita Road Horde)

From the Berley Lake Ambush camp travel north until you can see the main road from the top of a small hill. Make your way down the hill and you should see the entrance to a small cave. Enter the cave and drop down into the cavern inside to find the Wapinita horde.

Lost Lake Horde #6 Location (Berley Lake Horde)

The easiest way to locate this horde is by travelling to the Santiam Tunnel Nero Checkpoint which is at the southern border of the Lost Lake region, near the tunnel where you enter Highway 97. From the NERO camp, head northeast until you come across a cave. Inside you'll be able to find the last horde in the Lost Lake region.

Crater Lake Horde #1 Location (Mt. Bailey Horde)

At the northwest section of the Crater Lake map, directly west from the Diamond Lake encampment you'll be able to find the large Mt. Bailey Horde. Whilst they roam this area at night, you can find them in the day in a cave on the border of the region.

Crater Lake Horde #2 Location (McLeod Ridge Horde)

Northeast of the Diamond Lake camp you'll be able to find the second horde in the Crater Lake region. You'll need to head into the mountainous snowy area at the top of the map and keep an eye out for the opening of a cave. Find the horde inside.

Crater Lake Horde #3 Location (Rimview Ranch Horde)

Head to the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway Nero Checkpoint , and look at the large body of water. The horde sometimes gathers there to drink. If they're not there, follow the sandy track south until you come to a cave. They'll be waiting for you inside.

Highway 97 Horde #1 Location (Beaver Marsh Rest Stop Horde)

From the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway Nero Checkpoint , head into the mountains in a northeast direction. You'll have to pass through a winding rocky path to reach the nearby rest stop where you will come face to face with the horde that lives in this area.

Highway 97 Horde #2 Location (Mt. Scott Ski Resort Horde)

Running through the Highway 97 region is a small river which cuts through the middle of the northern section of the map. Head directly east from the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway until you come to cross a grand bridge over a waterfall. Immediately turn right and drive around the edge of the rocky outcrop by the waterfall. There's a large cave at the northmost point that shelters this horde.

Highway 97 Horde #3 Location (Sagebrush Point Horde)

From the large bridge nearest the Mt. Scott Ski Resort, drive to the east until you come across a large cave. Inside this cave, you'll find one of the bigger hordes so make sure you're well prepared before you take them on.

Highway 97 Horde #4 Location (Beasley Lake Horde)

Open the Highway 97 map and head to the northeast point of the region. This horde can be pinpointed by travelling east from the Sagebrush Point horde, or northeast from the gas station on the east side of Chemult town. This horde is hiding in a cave there.

Highway 97 Horde #5 Location (Solomon Hill Horde)

From the Aspen Butte Ambush camp, head directly north across the main road, past the tunnel to the Crater Lake region until you spot a looming cavemouth. The cave is just to the left of some train tracks and the Soloman Hill horde live inside.

Highway 97 Horde #6 Location (Chemult Station Horde)

Once you've arrived in Chemult town, head towards the abandoned bus station just south of the main street that runs between the buildings. After you pass the bus station a large iron bridge and a couple of abandoned train cars will come into view. The horde is living inside one of the empty carriages.

Highway 97 Horde #7 Location (Chemult Community College Horde)

The Chemult Community College area of Highway 97 is a sports field filled with challenges for Deacon to overcome. There's an infestation zone near the south end of the field, and a Nero Checkpoint to the north. The horde that lives here are hundreds of freakers strong, they rest in the tents in the middle of the sports field.

Highway 97 Horde #8 Location (Cascade Lakes Rail Line Horde)

From Chemult town cross the river to the north and follow the sandy track until you come across branches and corpses scattered on the road, the horde won't be far. This horde is one of the smaller ones in this region.

Highway 97 Horde #9 Location (Groose Gardens Horde)

Travel directly west from the Chemult Community College Nero Checkpoint until you come to a large bridge that's blocked by abandoned cars and trucks. Drop down onto the train tracks below and you'll see a large house which contains the horde.

Highway 97 Horde #10 Location (Rum Rye Gulch Horde)

From the Chemult Community College head southwest via a sandy track. Shrouded by trees, you'll come across a series of caves. Check each one for the horde, remembering to keep an eye out for the signs of their nests.

Highway 97 Horde #11 Location (Juniper Ridge Horde)

From the Rum Rye Gulch Horde location, continue down the dirt path in a western direction. The next horde is only a short distance from the last one in a cave at the top of a hill, away from the sandy track. You'll have to ascend the hill to enter this cave.

Highway 97 Horde #12 Location (Friendship Ridge Horde)

Directly south from the Chemult Community College and directly east from the Pillette Bridge Nero Checkpoint , you'll be able to find a horde living on Friendship Ridge. This horde live inside an old empty warehouse there.

Highway 97 #13 Location (Lobert Draw Ridge Horde)

At night, the last horde can be found south of the Pillette Bridge Nero Checkpoint , near the train tracks and empty carriages that have been abandoned there. During the day, the horde takes up residence inside the tunnel right on the western edge of the Highway 97 region.

Finding and wiping out all 37 Freaker hordes results in you obtaining the St. John Horde Killer Custom Skin for your motorcycle.

Additionally, each individual horde slain will gain you a chunk of trust for that region as well as a handful of experience points. This makes slaying hordes in Days Gone one of the best ways to collect those final few skills you missed during the main campaign.

NERO Intel Collectibles are records of NERO activity related to the pandemic. Most are audio recordings, some are documents. Some must be found and collected to unlock them. Others are unlocked by completing missions. Many are found at Nero Checkpoints or NERO Research Sites .

49. Inspector Field Note – 1674 - Found in the Cascade Region, north of Horse Lake NERO Checkpoint. Follow the train tracks north from the checkpoint until you reach the northern edge of the map. The collectible is resting on one of the railroad ties.

50. Inspector Field Note – 1680 - Found in the Crater Lake Region, west of the logging camp at the northern edge of the region, at a mass burial site, on the steps of a backhoe.
