Hey there, fellow presentation enthusiast!

If you're reading this, you're probably gearing up for a change management presentation.

Well, you're in luck because today, we're diving deep into the world of change management presentations.

Get ready to discover everything you need to know to ace your next presentation and leave your audience not just informed but inspired.

What is change management?

Change management is a concept that's become essential in today's ever-evolving business landscape. It's all about making strategic shifts within an organization while ensuring a smooth transition. Why? Because change is inevitable, but its success isn't. Companies that adapt effectively thrive, while those that struggle often find themselves facing a bumpy ride.

Reasons why change management initiatives fail

Now that we know the importance of change management let's explore why some initiatives hit a brick wall. The truth is, not all change efforts yield the desired results. Here are a few common reasons why:

  • Resistance to change: One of the most significant roadblocks to change is resistance from employees. It's like trying to push a boulder uphill. We'll discuss strategies to tackle this later on.
  • Lack of executive commitment: If the top brass isn't fully on board, it's tough to expect employees to embrace change wholeheartedly.
  • Unrealistic expectations: Sometimes, organizations set the bar too high, leading to disappointment when results fall short.
  • Inadequate team: Building a capable change management team is crucial. Without the right players, your strategy may crumble.

How to structure an effective change management presentation

Now that we understand what change management is and why it often hits roadblocks, let's get into the nitty-gritty of crafting a compelling presentation. Your presentation should be like a well-structured roadmap, guiding your audience through the change journey. Here's how you can achieve that:

  • Introduction to change management: Start by defining change management. Explain why it's vital for organizations today. Make it crystal clear.
  • The change management process: Dive into the step-by-step process of change management. It's like following a recipe – each ingredient plays a crucial role.
  • Utilizing powerpoint templates: Presentation slides are your canvas. Explore how templates can make your presentation visually appealing.
  • Understanding organizational change: Delve into the dynamics of organizational change. What drives it? What are the forces at play?
  • Overcoming resistance to change: Address the elephant in the room: resistance. Share strategies to navigate this challenging terrain.
  • Executing the change process: Break down the implementation phase. What steps should you follow to make it successful?
  • The change management team: Introduce the key players behind change management. It's a team effort.
  • Navigating current and future states: Discuss the transition from the current state to the future state. It's like crossing a bridge – a bit shaky but necessary.
  • Identifying barriers: What obstacles might you face on your change journey? Identify and strategize.
  • Engaging key stakeholders: Your stakeholders are your allies. How can you get them on board with the changes?

Do’s and don'ts for an effective change management presentation

Congratulations, you've mastered the structure of a compelling change management presentation. Now, let's delve into the critical do's and don'ts to ensure your presentation not only hits the mark but leaves a lasting impact.

Do's :

  • Engage your audience : Start by captivating your audience's attention. Share relatable stories, use visual aids, or pose thought-provoking questions.
  • Stay focused on the message : Keep your presentation laser-focused on the core message. Avoid veering off into tangents.
  • Use visuals effectively : Incorporate compelling visuals to reinforce your points. A well-placed graph or chart can convey complex information with ease.
  • Simplify complex concepts : Break down intricate ideas into digestible pieces. Your audience should leave with a clear understanding of the subject.
  • Interact with your audience: Foster engagement by encouraging questions and discussions. Make your presentation a dialogue, not a monologue.

Don'ts :

  • Avoid jargon : Steer clear of technical language or industry jargon that might alienate your audience. Speak in plain, understandable terms.
  • Don't overload with information : Less is often more. Don't overwhelm your audience with a barrage of facts and figures. Focus on the most relevant information.
  • Refrain from reading slides : Your slides are there to complement your presentation, not serve as your script. Avoid simply reading off them.
  • Don't rush through : Take your time to explain concepts clearly. Rushing through your presentation can leave your audience bewildered.
  • Steer clear of negativity : Maintain a positive tone. Avoid dwelling on the challenges of change; instead, emphasize the opportunities it presents.

Summarizing key takeaways

Let's take a moment to distill the wisdom you've acquired throughout this journey. Consider this section as your treasure chest of insights, a concise roadmap to guide you in your pursuit of mastery in change management presentations.

  • Engagement is essential: Begin with a captivating introduction. Engage your audience from the start.
  • Clarity is king: Maintain a singular message. Avoid tangents and information overload.
  • Leverage visual aids: Use charts, graphs, and images. Simplify complex ideas and enhance understanding.
  • Simplify complexity: Break down intricate concepts. Ensure a clear and uncomplicated understanding.
  • Encourage interaction and dialogue: Foster questions, discussions, and engagement. Make your presentation a two-way communication.
  • Avoid jargon: Speak in plain language. Keep it accessible and relatable.
  • Quality over quantity: Focus on the most relevant information. Prioritize content wisely; avoid overwhelming your audience.
  • Be the narrator, not the reader: Use slides as visual aids, not scripts. Engage through storytelling and explanation.
  • Avoid rushing: Take your time for clarity. Don't rush through your material.
  • Emphasize positivity: Highlight the opportunities that change presents. Maintain a positive tone throughout.

An Introduction to Change Management

Change management is a process that helps organizations deal with change. It helps organizations plan for, implement, and monitor changes in order to minimize the impact of change on employees and other stakeholders. Change management is a broad term that can encompass many different approaches, but there are some common elements that are often included in change management processes.

These elements include:

  • A clear understanding of the change that is going to take place.
  • A plan for how the change will be implemented.
  • Communication and training for employees and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and evaluation to ensure that the change is having the desired effect.

Change management can be a complex process, but it is important for organizations to have in place in order to ensure that changes are made in a smooth and efficient manner.

What is Change Management?

Change management is a structured approach to transitioning individuals, teams, and organizations from a current state to a desired future state. The goals of change management are to minimize disruption and stress, ensure smooth implementation of new processes or systems, and maximize the likelihood of success. When implementing changes within a company, it is important to have a clear plan and strategy in place to avoid any disruptions. This is where change management comes in. By following a structured approach, change management can help to minimize any disruptions and ensure a smooth transition for all involved.

There are many different aspects to change management, but some of the key elements include developing a change plan, creating communication strategies, training employees on new processes, and monitoring progress. Change management is an important part of any business transition and can help to ensure the success of your change initiative.

Three Levels of Change Management

Most people are familiar with the phrase “change management”, but there are actually three different levels of change management that organizations can adopt.

Personal or Individual Change Management

Organizational change management, enterprise change management.

Personal or Individual Change Management is the process of an individual making changes in their personal life. This could be a change in lifestyles, such as quitting smoking or a change in diet. It could also be a change in behavior, such as becoming more organized or punctual.

Organizational Change Management is the process of an organization making changes to the way it operates. This could be a change in the company’s structure, such as a re-organization, or a change in the way work is done, such as implementing a new process or system.

Enterprise Change Management is the process of an entire company making changes to the way it does business. This could be a change in the company’s strategy, such as expanding into new markets, or a change in the way products are made, such as switching to a new manufacturing process.

Each level of change management has its own challenges and benefits:  Personal change management  is usually less complex and easier to implement than organizational or enterprise change management. However, it can be more difficult to sustain over time.

Organizational change management  can be more complex and take longer to implement, but it can have a greater impact on the company and be more sustainable.

Enterprise change management  is the most complex and can take the longest to implement, but it can have the biggest impact on the company and be the most sustainable.

Which level of change management is right for your organization will depend on your specific goals and needs. If you’re not sure where to start, a good place to begin is with personal change management. Once you’ve mastered that, you can move on to organizational change management and, eventually, enterprise change management.

How To Implement Change Management?

In order to successfully implement change management, you will need to have a clear understanding of the process and what is involved.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

  • Define the change that is needed:  This may seem like an obvious first step, but it is important to be clear about the goals of the change management process. What are you trying to achieve?
  • Communicate the change:  Once you have defined the change, it is important to communicate it to those who will be affected by it. Make sure that everyone understands what is happening and why it is happening.
  • Create a plan:  Change management can be a complex process, so it is important to have a plan in place. This plan should include all of the steps that need to be taken in order to successfully implement the change.
  • Implement the plan:  Once the change management plan is in place, it is time to start implementing it. This may involve training employees on new procedures, rolling out new software, or making other changes within the organization.
  • Monitor progress : As the change is being implemented, it is important to monitor progress and ensure that everything is going according to plan.
  • Make adjustments as needed : As the change management process unfolds, there may be a need for adjustments to be made. If something isn’t working as planned, don’t be afraid to make changes in order to ensure the success of the overall process.

By following these tips, you can successfully implement change management within your organization.

What Are the Benefits of Change Management?

There are many benefits of change management, but the three most important ones are:

  • Improved communication
  • Increased efficiency
  • Better overall planning

Improved communication  is essential for any organization undergoing change. Change management ensures that everyone is on the same page and knows what is happening. This improved communication can lead to  increased efficiency  as everyone knows what needs to be done and when it needs to be done.  Better overall planning  is another key benefit of change management. Having a plan in place helps to ensure that the changes are implemented smoothly and effectively. Change management can help to minimize the disruptions caused by change.

Overall, change management can help to make changes within an organization more successful. By improving communication, increasing efficiency, and better overall planning, change management can help to ensure that changes are made smoothly and effectively.

What Are the Challenges of Change Management?

Change management can be a daunting task, especially for large organizations. There are many factors to consider when implementing change, and it is often difficult to get everyone on board. Additionally, change can be disruptive and cause disruptions in workflows and operations.

Some of the biggest challenges of change management include:

  • Resistance to change:  People are creatures of habit and often resist change, even if it is for the better. Change can be scary and uncertain, so it is important to manage resistance and help employees understand the benefits of the proposed changes.
  • Implementation difficulties:  Change is not always easy to implement, especially if it requires new technology or processes. There can be a lot of trial and error involved in getting everything up and running smoothly.
  • Cost:  Change can be expensive, both in terms of money and time. Organizations need to carefully consider the cost of change before deciding whether or not to proceed.
  • Communication:  Change can be difficult to communicate, especially to a large organization. Employees need to be kept in the loop and given clear instructions on how the changes will affect them.
  • Employee engagement:  A lack of employee engagement can doom a change initiative from the start. It is important to get employees on board with the changes and ensure that they are invested in the process.

Organizations need to carefully consider all of these factors before embarking on a change management initiative. By doing so, they can increase the chances of success and minimize the disruptions caused by change.

What are Top Change Management Models?

There are a variety of different change management models that organizations can use to help manage and implement change. Some of the most popular models include the Lewin Change Model, the Kotter 8-Step Change Model, and the ADKAR model. The Lewin Change Model is a three-step process that includes unfreezing, changing, and refreezing. The Kotter 8-Step Change Model is a more comprehensive approach that takes into account the different stages of change. The ADKAR Model is an individual-focused model that helps people to understand and adapt to change.

Organizations can use any of these models, or a combination of them, to help guide their change management efforts. It’s important to find the model (or models) that work best for your organization and your specific situation.

The Lewin Change Model

The Lewin Change Model is a three-step process that helps organizations manage change. The three steps are unfreezing, changing, and refreezing.

  • Unfreezing:  The first step of the Lewin Change Model is unfreezing. This step includes creating a sense of urgency and motivating people to change.
  • Changing:  The second step is changing, which is when the actual change takes place. This step includes planning and implementing the changes.
  • Refreezing:  The third and final step is refreezing, which is when the changes are made permanent. This step includes consolidating the changes and making sure they stick.

The Kotter 8-Step Change Model

The Kotter 8-Step Change Model is a more comprehensive approach to change management. This model takes into account the different stages of change and provides a detailed roadmap for organizations to follow.

Kotter’s 8 steps are:

  • Establishing a sense of urgency
  • Creating a guiding coalition
  • Developing a vision and strategy
  • Communicating the change vision
  • Empowering employees for broad-based action
  • Generating short-term wins
  • Consolidating gains and producing more change
  • Institutionalizing new approaches

The ADKAR Model

The ADKAR Model is an individual-focused change management model. This model helps people to understand and adapt to change.

The five steps of the ADKAR model are:

Lewin’s model, also known as unfreezing-change-freezing, posits that change is a process that occurs in three distinct phases:

Unfreezing:  In this phase, the individual or group recognizes that there is a need for change and begins to let go of old ways of thinking and behaving.

Change:  This is the phase in which new ways of thinking and behaving are adopted.

Freezing:  In this final phase, the new ways of thinking and behaving become “frozen” into place and become the new norm.

Lewin’s model has been used in a variety of settings, from businesses to schools to government organizations. At each stage, people experience different emotions and behaviors.

The Stages of Kubler-Ross Change Curve Model:

  • Denial:  In this stage, people are in denial about the change that is happening. They may try to ignore it or pretend it is not happening.
  • Anger:  In this stage, people are angry about the change that is happening. They may lash out at others or be resistant to anything that reminds them of the change.
  • Bargaining:  In this stage, people try to bargain with the person or situation that is causing the change. They may try to make deals or compromise in order to avoid the change.
  • Depression:  In this stage, people become depressed about the change that is happening. They may feel hopeless and helpless.
  • Acceptance:  In this stage, people finally accept the change that is happening. They may still have some negative feelings, but they are able to move on with their lives.

The Change Curve model can be applied to any type of change, whether it is positive or negative. The Change Curve model can be applied to any type of change, whether it is personal or professional. 11. Stakeholder Analysis PowerPoint Templates – Best Change Management PPT Template for Investors and Stakeholders

Stakeholder Analysis PowerPoint Templates - Best Change Management PPT Template for Investors and Stakeholders

A stakeholder analysis can be a helpful tool when starting any new project. By identifying and categorizing the individuals or groups who have an interest in your project, you can develop a plan for how best to involve and communicate with them throughout the process.

There are many different ways to conduct a stakeholder analysis. One common method is to create a grid with three columns labelled “interest,” “influence,” and “participation.” In the first column, you would list each stakeholder group and rate their level of interest in the project on a scale from low to high. In the second column, you would rate their level of influence on the project’s success, again on a scale from low to high. And in the third column, you would rate their level of participation in the project, again on a scale from low to high.

Once you have completed your stakeholder analysis, you can use it to develop a communication and involvement plan for each group. For example, if you have a group of stakeholders with a high level of interest and influence, you may want to involve them in project planning and decision-making. On the other hand, if you have a group of stakeholders with a low level of interest but a high level of influence, you may want to keep them updated on the project’s progress and solicit their feedback on key decisions.

Nudge Change Model - Recommended Change Management Model PPT Slide Designs

If you need a well-designed nudge change model PPT template, then you need to consider downloading our cool PowerPoint template for change management . Unlike other methods of change, nudge theory does not have a set model of change. It is a theory based on behavioral science that proposes tactics and mindsets to institute a change in behavior. The essential core of the theory is that enforcing change in the traditional, methodical sense is not effective. Nudging change along, however, can be highly effective.

Some ways to nudge change along include:

  • Asking people questions that require them to think about their desired outcome
  • Helping people visualize their desired outcome
  • Encouraging baby steps instead of large leaps
  • Making it easy for people to take the desired action
  • Framing the issue in terms of loss aversion (i.e., emphasizing what people will lose if they don’t make the desired change)

The bottom line is that the nudge theory can be an effective way to change people’s behavior. So if you’re looking to institute a change in your own life or in the lives of others, keep these nudges in mind!

14. Maurer’s 3 Levels of Change Resistance – High-Quality Change Management Slide Layouts

Maurer's 3 Levels of Change Resistance - High-Quality Change Management Slide Layouts

It’s been said that change is the only constant in life. While that may be true, it doesn’t mean that people are always eager to embrace change. In fact, there are often three levels of resistance that people go through when confronted with change.

The first level is when people don’t understand why the change is necessary. They may not see the benefits of the new way and prefer the comfort of the familiar. The second level is when people begin to see the benefits of the change, but they still don’t like it. They may be hesitant to let go of old habits or routines. The third level is when people not only don’t like the change but they also don’t like the person who is advocating for it. This can be a sign of deeper-seated issues such as trust or respect.

Level 1: I don’t get it

This is the most common form of resistance and usually because people don’t really understand what’s going on. They may not have been given enough information about the change, or they may not be able to see how it will benefit them.

Level 2: I don’t like it

This is where people start to understand the change, but they don’t see how it will work for them, or they may not agree with it.

Level 3: I don’t like you

This is the most serious form of resistance and usually because people are afraid of change. They may be worried about losing their job, or they may not feel confident that they can cope with the change.

Knowing these three levels of resistance can be helpful in managing change within an organization. It’s important to anticipate objections and address them head-on. Fostering a culture of open communication can also help to reduce resistance to change as people feel more comfortable sharing their concerns. So, what are you waiting for? Beckhard & Harris Change Process - Most Creative PowerPoint Templates for Change Management

Organizations today are constantly faced with the need to change in order to stay competitive. The Beckhard & Harris Change Process is a five-step approach that assists organizations in identifying and implementing change. These five steps include internal organizational analysis, identifying the necessity of change, conducting a gap analysis, action planning, and managing the transition. The purpose of this process is to clearly delineate the steps needed to accomplish successful change.

  • The first step in the process is internal organizational analysis. This step involves taking a close look at the current state of the organization and identifying any areas that may need improvement. Once these areas have been identified, it is important to assess why change is necessary. This can be done by conducting a needs assessment or by looking at external factors such as changes in the marketplace or new regulations.
  • Once it has been determined that change is indeed necessary, the next step is to conduct a gap analysis. This step involved comparing the current state of the organization to the desired future state. This comparison will help to identify any areas where there are discrepancies that need to be addressed.
  • The third step in the process is action planning. In this stage, specific goals and objectives are developed in order to address the identified gaps. Once these goals and objectives have been established, it is important to create a plan of action detailing how they will be achieved.
  • The fourth step is managing the transition. This stage entails putting the plan of action into effect and ensuring that all employees are on board with the changes. It is also important to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed along the way.
  • The final step in the process is evaluating the results. This step allows organizations to assess whether or not the change process was successful and identify any areas that may need further improvement.

20. Burning Platform Template – Comprehensive Change Management PPT Slide Layouts

Burning Platform Template - Comprehensive Change Management PPT Slide Layouts

A burning platform is a metaphor for a situation in which an individual or organization faces imminent extinction unless a radical change occurs. The term is often used in the business world to describe a company facing bankruptcy or obsolescence.

In change management, a burning platform is often used as a way to motivate employees to embrace change. The idea is that if they do not make changes, the company will go out of business, and they will lose their jobs.

The metaphor can be traced back to the 1979 oil crisis when British Petroleum (BP) faced declining oil reserves and had to make radical changes to its business model or go out of business.

The term has been used more recently by companies such as Nokia, Kodak, and Blockbuster, who have all faced similar situations.

The burning platform metaphor can be a powerful tool for motivating employees to change, but it can also be dangerous if not used properly. If employees feel that they are being asked to make too many changes or that the changes are not in their best interest, they may resist or even rebel against the company.

Burning platforms can also create a culture of fear, which can lead to employees making poor decisions out of desperation.

When used properly, however, the burning platform metaphor can be a powerful tool for motivating employees to change and help companies avoid extinction.

When it comes to change management, it’s important to understand that people can only handle so much change at once. Change fatigue is a real phenomenon, and it can have a serious impact on the success of your change management initiative.

Change fatigue occurs when people are bombarded with too many changes or when they feel like they’re constantly being asked to adapt to new situations. It can lead to apathy, frustration, and even resistance to change.

Core values are the guiding principles that a company uses to inform its decision-making, shape its culture, and build a foundation for its future. These values provide a roadmap for how the company should operate and make decisions, and they act as a filter through which all decision-making must pass.

Developing strong, effective core values is a crucial first step for any organization, but it’s only the beginning. Once values have been established, it’s important to put systems and processes in place to ensure that they guide decision-making at all levels of the organization. Additionally, regular communication and reinforcement are necessary to ensure that employees understand and buy into the company’s values.

When done correctly, living and working by a set of strong core values can have a number of positive impacts on an organization. Values can help to create a more positive and productive work environment, attract and retain top talent, and build a more loyal and engaged customer base.

  • Keep it simple.
  • Make sure they’re meaningful.

Focus Groups Template - Colorful Qualitative Data Collection from Surveys PPT Presentation Template Layouts

At its simplest, a focus group is a facilitated discussion with a group of people about a particular topic. Focus groups are commonly used in market research and change management, as they provide an opportunity to gather qualitative feedback from a target audience.

There are many different ways to structure a focus group, but typically they involve:

  • A moderator, who is responsible for leading the discussion
  • A small group of people, who are representative of the target audience
  • A set of predetermined questions or topics to discuss

Focus groups can be an effective way to gather feedback on a wide variety of topics. In change management, focus groups can be used to assess employee reactions to proposed changes, gather suggestions for how to improve a change program, or simply provide employees with a forum to voice their concerns.

Focus groups can provide valuable insights that can help shape the direction of a change management initiative. However, there are some potential pitfalls that organizations should be aware of when using focus groups. These include:

  • Groupthink:  This phenomenon occurs when the members of a group place too much importance on consensus and fail to challenge each other’s ideas. This can lead to sub-optimal decision-making and a lack of creativity.
  • Bias:  It is important to carefully select the members of a focus group so that they are representative of the target audience. Otherwise, the results of the focus group may be skewed.
  • Coercion:  The moderator of a focus group should be careful not to coerce the members into agreeing with a particular point of view. This can invalidate the results of the discussion.

When used correctly, focus groups can be a powerful tool in change management. By taking steps to avoid potential pitfalls, organizations can maximize the benefits of using focus groups.

43. GE Change Acceleration Process (CAP Model) – Appealing Change Management Models for Business and Companies

GE Change Acceleration Process (CAP Model) - Appealing Change Management Models for Business and Companies

The GE Change Acceleration Process (CAP) model was developed out of research conducted by General Electric. This research found that even projects with a high degree of technical expertise can fail without consideration of cultural factors. The CAP model is a multiplicative equation that takes into account both the technical and cultural aspects of a project. The effectiveness (E) of any initiative is equal to the product of the quality (Q) of the technical strategy and the acceptance (A) of that strategy (E=Q*A). This model emphasizes the importance of the people side of any project and underscores the need for a comprehensive approach to change management.

When applying the CAP model to a change initiative, it is important to consider all aspects of the project in order to ensure its success. The quality of the technical strategy must be high in order to achieve the desired results. Furthermore, the team must have buy-in from all members in order to execute the plan successfully. By taking both of these factors into account, organizations can increase their chances of successfully implementing change.

The Seven elements of GE Change Acceleration Process (CAP Model)

  • Purpose:  All members of the team must be clear on the purpose of the change initiative in order to buy in and commit to its success.
  • Strategy:  The technical strategy must be well-designed and comprehensive in order to achieve the desired results.
  • Execution:  The team must have a clear plan for execution, and all members must be committed to its success.
  • Engagement:  All team members must be engaged in the change process in order to ensure its success.
  • Communication:  Clear and concise communication is essential throughout the change process in order to keep all members of the team on the same page.
  • Feedback:  regular feedback should be sought from all team members in order to gauge progress and make necessary adjustments along the way.
  • Learning:  The team should be open to learning from their experiences throughout the change process in order to improve future change initiatives.

By considering all of these factors, organizations can increase their chances of successfully implementing change. The GE Change Acceleration Process provides a framework for doing so and can help teams to navigate the often-difficult process of change.

Prochaska and DiClemente Model - The Most-Trusted Stages of Change Model Design for PPT

The Prochaska and DiClemente model, also known as the “transtheoretical model,” is a means of examining the various stages that someone goes through while dealing with an addiction and working to change their addictive behavior.

The model was created by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente , who also identified 10 processes of change that are used throughout the stages.

The model is composed of six stages: Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, Maintenance, and Termination.

The first stage, precontemplation, is when an individual is not considering change and is unaware of the negative consequences of their behavior. The second stage, contemplation, is when an individual is aware of the negative consequences of their behavior but is not yet ready to change.

The third stage, preparation, is when an individual begins making plans to change their behavior. The fourth stage, action, is when an individual takes steps to change their behavior. The fifth stage, maintenance, is when an individual work to prevent relapse and consolidate the changes they have made.

The final stage, termination, is when an individual has successfully changed their behavior and no longer struggles with addiction. However, it should be noted that individuals can move backward through the stages – for example, someone in the maintenance stage may relapse and return to the action stage.

  • Trialability:  This is the degree to which the new technology can be tried out on a small scale before making a commitment to full-scale adoption.

59. Stakeholder Interview Template – Creative Slide Design Layouts for Stakeholder Interview in Change Management

Stakeholder Interview Template - Creative Slide Design Layouts for Stakeholder Interview in Change Management

Stakeholder interviews are important in change management as they provide insights into the needs, concerns, and motivations of those who will be affected by the change. The interview process should be designed to elicit honest and candid responses, and the questions should be open-ended to encourage thoughtful answers.

The interviews can be conducted in person, by phone, or through a survey. The format will depend on the preference of the stakeholder and the resources available. Once the interviews are complete, the results should be analyzed to identify common themes and patterns. This information can then be used to develop a change management plan that takes into account the needs of the stakeholders.

There are five steps that need to be followed to conduct a successful Stakeholder Interview:

  • Determine who the stakeholders are:  The first step is to identify who the stakeholders are. These are the people who will be affected by the change. They may be employees, customers, suppliers, or other interested parties.
  • Define the goals of the interview:  The next step is to define the goals of the stakeholder interview. What information do you hope to obtain? What problems are you trying to solve? How will this information be used?
  • Prepare the questions:  Once the goals have been defined, it is time to prepare the questions. These should be open-ended and focused on understanding the needs, concerns, and motivations of the stakeholders.
  • Conduct the interviews:  The final step is to conduct the interviews. This can be done in person, by phone, or through a survey. The format will depend on the preference of the stakeholder and the resources available.
  • Analyze the results:  Once the interviews are complete, the next step is to analyze the results. This can be done by identifying common themes and patterns. The information gathered should then be used to develop a change management plan that takes into account the needs of the stakeholders.

Switch Change Framework - PowerPoint Design Illustration: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard

Most of us are aware that when it comes to decision-making, we have two very different types of thinking – the emotional and intuitive side and the rational and logical side. And most of us also know that sometimes our emotions can get the better of us, causing us to make decisions that we later regret. The Switch Change Framework is a tool that can help us find a balance between our emotional and rational sides, so that we can make better decisions in times of change. The framework is based on the premise that our emotions play a vital role in decision-making and that by understanding how they work, we can better control them.

10 Lessons Learned from the Switch Change Framework:

  • Change is an emotional process as well as a rational one.
  • A successful change management strategy must take into account both the emotional and rational aspects of decision-making.
  • The framework provides a structured approach to change management that can help organizations achieve their desired outcomes.
  • The initiation stage is critical to the success of the overall change management process.
  • Planning is essential to ensure that the desired outcomes of the change process are achieved.

  • Communication is a key component of successful change management.

  • Change management is a continuous process, and organizations must be prepared to adapt their strategies as new challenges and opportunities arise.

63. Theory of Change – Logic Framework – Design Illustration of a Best Tool for Monitoring and Evaluation

Theory of Change – Logic Framework - Design Illustration of a Best Tool for Monitoring and Evaluation

Theories of change (ToC) and logic frameworks are tools that can be used to support the planning, design, and evaluation of programs and projects. A ToC describes how and why a desired change is expected to happen in a particular context. It outlines the long-term goals of a program or intervention and the specific activities and steps that need to be undertaken to achieve these goals. A logic framework, on the other hand, is a tool that can be used to map out the logical relationship between a program’s activities, inputs, outputs, and outcomes.

Theories of change and logic frameworks are useful tools for program and project planning as they can help to:

  • Clarify the goals of a program or intervention.
  • Identify the activities and steps that need to be undertaken to achieve these goals.
  • Logically link activities, inputs, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress towards desired outcomes.

There is no single “right” way to develop a theory of change or logic framework. The most important thing is that the process is participatory and that it results in a tool that is fit for its purpose.

64. User Acceptance Testing Template – Graphically Visualize the Process of Beta or End-User Testing Using PowerPoint

User Acceptance Testing Template - Graphically Visualize the Process of Beta or End-User Testing Using PowerPoint

User acceptance testing (UAT), also known as beta testing, is the final step in the change management process. This is when a proposed strategy, technology implementation, or product is tested with a group of individuals who are representative of the audience that will be affected by or use the new system.

UAT is important because it allows for any potential issues to be identified and resolved before a new system is put into place. This testing also provides valuable feedback from users that can be used to improve the final product.

To ensure that UAT is effective, it should be conducted early and often throughout the change management process . Additionally, UAT should be conducted by a team of trained individuals who are familiar with the change management process and the objectives of the UAT.

66. Weisbord’s Six-Box Model Template – Illustrate the Strategy using a PPT Presentation About Managing Effectiveness of a Business

Weisbord's Six-Box Model Template - Illustrate the Strategy using a PPT Presentation About Managing Effectiveness of a Business

The Weisbord Six-Box Model is a framework introduced by American business analyst Marvin Weisbord that can be used to evaluate the performance of organizations undergoing change. The model consists of six boxes, which represent different areas of organizational life:

  • Goal setting and planning
  • Structure and systems
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Rewards and incentives

The model can be used to identify areas of improvement in an organization and to develop strategies for change. It is important to note that the model is not a prescriptive tool but rather a way of thinking about organizational change.

When using the Weisbord Six-Box Model in change management, it is important to keep the following points in mind:

  • The model is designed to be used as a tool for diagnosis, not prescription. It is a way of thinking about organizational change, not a step-by-step guide to implementing it.
  • The model is most useful when used as part of a larger change management process. It can help to identify areas of improvement, but it is not a standalone solution.
  • The model should be tailored to the specific needs of the organization. Not all organizations will have the same priorities, and therefore not all will benefit equally from each of the six boxes.
  • The model is not a static framework. It is designed to be flexible and can be adapted as the needs of the organization change over time.
  • The model is only one tool in the change management toolkit. There are many other models and frameworks that can also be used to manage organizational change effectively.

When used correctly, the Weisbord Six-Box Model can be a valuable tool in helping organizations to achieve their change goals. However, it is important to remember that it is only one piece of the puzzle. Change management is a complex process, and no single model or framework can provide all the answers. The key is to use a variety of tools and approaches and tailor them to the specific needs of the organization. So, consider purchasing our all-in-one change management PowerPoint template and check all the change management models, processes, and practices you can apply in your organization.

Conclusion: Change Management

As organizations continue to face ever-changing environments, the need for effective change management has never been greater. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for managing change, there are some key principles that can help ensure success. First and foremost, it is essential to have a clear vision and strategy for change . Without a roadmap, it will be difficult to effectively manage the process and ensure that everyone is on the same page. It is also important to engage all stakeholders in the change process. This includes getting buy-in from upper management, communicating with employees, and involving them in the implementation of the changes. Finally, it is essential to have a plan for how the changes will be implemented. This should include a timeline, milestones, and clear roles and responsibilities. By having a well-thought-out plan, organizations can minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth transition. By following these principles, organizations can set themselves up for success when managing change. A Guide to Organizational Change Management for Leaders

Organizational change management scene powerpoint.

Nearly 7 in 10 business leaders have experienced at least one corporate crisis in the past 5 years — with the average number of crises, handled by them being three. And that’s even before 2020 has rolled it. So it only makes sense why business leaders today are increasingly focused on getting better at organizational change management.

What is Change Management?

SHRM defines change management the following way:

Change management is the systematic approach and application of knowledge, tools, and resources to deal with change.

In essence, the purpose of change management is to determine, structure, manage, and execute any initiative that would challenge the current status quo . The change management process includes multiple steps and structural elements, aimed at ensuring that:

  • The organization can adapt/react to the changes, prompted by external conditions (e.g. market turbulence).
  • The people, employed by the company, can go along with the proposed internal changes, prompted either by an internal or external need.

Change management is a cross-functional action, leaders pursue when they want to drive sustainable transformations and effective decision making across their organization with minimal resistance and disruption.

What is Organizational Change Management?

Organizational change management is a more narrow scope of action, aimed at altering how the organization operates. Organizational change can assume improvements in the company’s culture, standard operational procedures, service or technology portfolios.

Effective Change Management PowerPoint Templates

The need for organizational change can be prompted by different factors such as:

  • A slow rate of innovation
  • Low operational efficiency
  • Shift to another business model (e.g. from sales-led to product-led growth ).

Why is change important? The global pandemic is a good illustration. Agile companies, capable of pivoting and driving organizational changes fast (and effectively), ended up among the market movers. Whereas more reluctant or ineffective companies are still struggling to shake off the disruptive impact of COVID-19 on their operations.

Certainly, a ‘swan’ event such as the global pandemic is a more rare case of organizational change. Far more frequently, businesses introduce a change management policy as a response to the following types of changes:

Adaptive changes — small-scale, incremental changes leaders pursue as the company’s needs and priorities evolve. In most cases, such changes are slight adjustments to existing processes, planned out in advance along with other initiatives on the annual/monthly agendas. These may apply only to certain people, processes, or tech, rather than the company as a whole

Transformational changes — large-scale, radical initiatives, involving multi-vector transformations. For example, a shift in the company vision can require changes in the product portfolio, management, team structure, and business processes.

Due to the sweeping scale and vast impact, transformational changes required careful orchestration. Typically, such organizational change management strategies are put in place as a response to a major shift in market conditions, a disruption in the supply chain, or another major event.

Transitional changes — a group of ‘sub-changes’ aimed at taking the company from its current state towards the desired to-be to solve a particular issue. For example, after M&A the parent company will develop a change management plan, aimed at aligning operations within the purchased asset with the rest of the organization.

Popular Change Management Models: Overview

Old habits die hard. We are reluctant to change our usual ways, especially when the request for change is imposed on us (rather than manifests internally). That’s why formal change management techniques exist in the first place. They facilitate a paced and non-disruptive introduction of new practices, address resistance, and minimize turbulence, experienced during the change period.

But given that change comes in different shapes (and manifests as a response to different stressors), there is a range of change management tools leaders can leverage.

Kotter’s Change Management Theory

kotter's 8 steps change management model

Dr. John Kotter, an author, and professor of Leadership at the Harvard Business School developed an 8-step framework for leading change. Each of the proposed change management steps is aimed at mobilizing the people around the purpose of change, getting a unified buy-in, and ensuring fast-paced action.

McKinsey 7-S Framework

mckinsey powerpoint template

This change management model identifies 7 strategic areas, companies need to focus on in order to sustainably transform. These include:

  • Strategy – a step-by-step roadmap for executing proposed changes.
  • Structure – the company’s current structure and desired future state of it.
  • Systems – new systems that will be required to support new operations.
  • Shared values – core values and main principles that the company adheres to.
  • Style – approach in which the change is adopted.
  • Staff – current workforce composition and new roles that will become in demand.
  • Skills – Competencies, possessed by the current workforce.

ADKAR model

ADKAR is an acronym for awareness, desire, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement — the five main components of effective change management, according to Jeff Hiatt. This model provides a great framework for formalizing the scope of change and identifying ways to support the employees during the transition.

ADKAR Change Management PPT Template

Lewin’s Change Management Model

This model focuses on helping leaders pursue stages in three phases:

  • Unfreeze — a prep stage, aimed at ‘activating’ employees to make them more receptive to the imposed changes.
  • Change — the active phase where change is introduced.
  • Freeze — concluding stage, where all employees have adopted the change and can go back to a more ‘passive’ state of day-to-day activity.

Organizational Change Management Best Practices

Organizational change and development is a multi-step process, requiring strong employee and stakeholder engagement .

To succeed with change management, leaders need to focus on the next 4 actions:

  • Change Planning

Change Leadership

Change management, change maintenance, change planning .

powerpoint presentation on implementing change

As the name implies, at this stage leaders analyze the current state of affairs, refine their vision, define future goals, analyze risks, and put plans for change.

To succeed with subsequent implementation, leaders need to:

  • Create a detailed roadmap of change
  • Set measurable and realistic objectives
  • Identify success measurement
  • Analyze and address possible risks
  • Create a preliminary timeline for execution
  • Set milestones and checkpoints

Best practices:

  • Honesty and transparency: Prepare to have conversations with other leaders, stakeholders, and employees regarding the current state of affairs and the underlying needs for change.
  • Regular conversations with the employees: To secure buy-in, communicate early and frequently with your people in regards to your plans, goals, and potential scope of change.
  • Seek opinions from your teams. Gain grassroots support by having conversations with staff at different levels. Taking the planning conversations outside of the boardroom can help you gain fresher perspectives, and yet again — secure faster buy-in.

In most companies, change happens from the top-to-bottom. Yet, directions issued from the above can be rather unsettling for people at lower levels and create unnecessary tensions, or worse — outright resistance. To prevent such scenarios, ensure that you are listening to people at all levels and obtain their support.

Outstanding change leadership involves the ability to communicate appropriately with others — motivate, engage, influence, and reassure people of the positive impact of upcoming changes.

  • Address and resolve concerns early: Understandably, some of your employees may resist change or otherwise feel threatened by it. Talk to such people. Provide them with reassurance and extra information in regards to the impact of change.
  • Communicate status updates regularly: To facilitate faster adoption and alignment, provide plenty of information —  update your company practices, provide status updates, schedule training if necessary.
  • Assume a position of a servant leader: Servant leaders assume a supporting position and act as ‘facilitators’. They empower, support, and emphasize with their people and rally them around the shared cause.

The change management stage is all about overseeing how the people, processes, systems, and other moving parts contribute to the end goal of change. This phase will require the most targeted actions as leaders will need to constantly monitor progress and rapidly react to the slightest deviations on the change management timeframe. At this point, you should be focused on ensuring that:

  • Changes are implemented sustainably, according to the plans.
  • Risks are identified early and mitigated.
  • Communication happens frequently
  • Encourage knowledge sharing: Ask the early adopted to facilitate others with jumping on the new best practices. Create and support peer-to-peer learning opportunities and remove bottlenecks in information flows when those arise.
  • Provide training: Some people will require upskilling to thrive in the new environment. Put plans for formal training initiatives.
  • Recognize and reward: Make positive behaviors stick by recognizing change pioneers. At early stages, external motivation can be crucial to help with the development of intrinsic motivation later down the road.

Change maintenance is the final stage of the transformations. At this point, your main goal is to ensure that the change is successfully implemented and all the initiatives on the roadmap are finished. Focus on reinforcing positive behaviors, addressing remaining inefficiencies, and facilitating the people to reach a productivity plateau within the new environment.

The conclusion of this change is when the proposed change is fully transferred and embedded within your organization.

Best practices :

  • Schedule an after-action review: To better reflect on the entire change management process and its success/shortcomings, schedule follow-up AAR meetings with your team.
  • Create evaluation plans: To better monitor and evaluate the state of change, set extra milestones —  short evaluation sessions, held every 3 or 6 months, during the first year — where your team analyzes the set success metrics and brainstorms ways to strengthen change.

To Conclude

Every organization, at some point, will undergo a transition or change. Whether prompted by external market conditions or internal processual inefficiencies, the scope of changes can have a major impact on the company’s viability. While organizational change management isn’t an easy process, you now know the main change management principles, models, and frameworks for orchestrating it effectively!

Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

Implementing Change Prepare For Change • Adjustments must be made by multiple persons with major changes • Avoid dissatisfaction and rebelliousness among team members by clarifying expectations and adjustments needed during the change • Be realistic and anticipate potential problems and setbacks regardless of the wide appeal for change Source: G. Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

Implementing Change Help People Cope • Major changes are stressful, anxiety provoking, and depressing for persons making adjustments • Help people cope with past failed efforts, or who struggle with new policies or practices by holding informal discussions to air out grief and frustration with the changes Source: G. Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

Implementing Change Allow Early Successes • Create opportunities to accomplish simple tasks in the early phase of a new project • Early success marks progress that can build the confidence of team members • Some skeptics will only participate after noting progress Source: G. Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

Implementing Change Keep People Informed • When no one is informed of progress, people may wonder if the push for change has died and efforts reverted back to old ways • Build enthusiasm and optimism by informing people of progress: steps initiated, established changes, improvements in performance • Celebrate progress with public announcements and ceremonies Source: G. Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

Implementing Change Commitment To Change • See things through and stay committed to the end • Enthusiasm may dwindle when problems or setbacks are encountered • Leaders will be looked upon for resilience to stay the course—if not, all is lost • Leaders will invest time, effort, and resources to resolve problems and implement change Source: G. Yukl, Leadership In Organizations (New Jersey: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006, p. 300-307)

How to Make a “Good” Presentation “Great”

  • Guy Kawasaki

powerpoint presentation on implementing change

Remember: Less is more.

A strong presentation is so much more than information pasted onto a series of slides with fancy backgrounds. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others. Here are some unique elements that make a presentation stand out.

  • Fonts: Sans Serif fonts such as Helvetica or Arial are preferred for their clean lines, which make them easy to digest at various sizes and distances. Limit the number of font styles to two: one for headings and another for body text, to avoid visual confusion or distractions.
  • Colors: Colors can evoke emotions and highlight critical points, but their overuse can lead to a cluttered and confusing presentation. A limited palette of two to three main colors, complemented by a simple background, can help you draw attention to key elements without overwhelming the audience.
  • Pictures: Pictures can communicate complex ideas quickly and memorably but choosing the right images is key. Images or pictures should be big (perhaps 20-25% of the page), bold, and have a clear purpose that complements the slide’s text.
  • Layout: Don’t overcrowd your slides with too much information. When in doubt, adhere to the principle of simplicity, and aim for a clean and uncluttered layout with plenty of white space around text and images. Think phrases and bullets, not sentences.

As an intern or early career professional, chances are that you’ll be tasked with making or giving a presentation in the near future. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others.

Hi, Microsoft 365 Insiders! My name is Camille Birch, and I’m a Product Manager on the Office Purview team. I’m excited to announce the introduction of dynamic watermarking, a new feature for sensitivity labels in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows, Mac, and the web that can both deter users from leaking sensitive information and attribute leaks if they do occur.

If you work with sensitive or confidential documents, you know how vital it is to prevent any leaks of information from these documents. Sensitivity labels from Microsoft Purview Information Protection offer a highly effective way to limit access to sensitive files and prevent people from taking inappropriate actions with them, such as printing a document, while still allowing for full collaboration.

However, it’s still possible for someone to take a picture of a sensitive file on their screen or of a presentation being shared either online or in-person. (Some forms of screenshotting cannot be blocked with existing technology.) This loophole presents a simple way to bypass the protections that sensitivity labels place on a document. Dynamic watermarking can be a potent weapon in combatting these kinds of leaks.

How it works

1. To apply a sensitivity label with dynamic watermarking, select the file name in the title bar or click the Sensitivity button on the ribbon, and then select a label from the dropdown list.

Screenshot showing how to apply a sensitivity label in Word.

2. When the label is applied, the watermarks will appear on the screen shortly afterwards.

Screenshot showing dynamic watermarking from a sensitivity label in Word.

3. When you open a file protected with a sensitivity label that has the dynamic watermarking setting enabled, you will see tiled watermarks superimposed across the file content. These watermarks will contain the email address for the account you’re using to view the file.

Tips and tricks

  • You’ll be able to work with your file like normal — viewing, editing, and collaborating — with the watermarks always visible on top of your file content. You won’t be able to remove these watermarks unless you have IRM usage rights that allow you to change the file’s label to one that doesn’t have dynamic watermarking.
  • If you attempt to open a file labeled with dynamic watermarks in a version of Microsoft 365 that does not support the feature, you will get an “access denied” message (unless you are the owner of the file). This is to prevent files that should be shown with dynamic watermarks from being viewed on Microsoft 365 clients that cannot show the watermarks.
  • If you need to open a file with dynamic watermarking but your client does not support it yet, open the file in Microsoft 365 for the web instead. You’ll be able to view, edit, and collaborate on your document there with full support for dynamic watermarking.
  • Watermarks are included when you print a file but are not included if you export it to another file format. Remember this when deciding whether to export a file.
  • File views outside of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint do not support dynamic watermarking. This means that certain experiences, such as PPT Live, will not render watermarks.

Requirements

  • To access this feature, you must be in an organization that is licensed for sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 and that has enabled dynamic watermarking on a sensitivity label that you can access.
  • You can only apply a label with dynamic watermarks if your admin has enabled the setting on a sensitivity label available to you.

Availability

This feature is currently rolling out to users on the web and to Current Channel Preview users running:

  • Windows: Version 2407 (Build 17830.20000) or later
  • Mac: Version 16.87 (Build 24070110) or later

Don’t have it yet? It’s probably us, not you.

Features are released over some time to ensure things are working smoothly. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Project 2025 Explained: What To Know About The Controversial Right-Wing Policy Map For Trump—As RNC Kicks Off

Former President Donald Trump will secure the GOP’s nomination at the Republican National Convention this week, bringing renewed attention to Project 2025, a conservative think tank’s wide-ranging blueprint for a potential second Trump term that covers everything from recruiting like-minded personnel to eliminating entire agencies—a platform assembled partly by ex-Trump staffers, though the former president has tried to distance himself.

Then-President Donald Trump gives a speech at the Heritage Foundation's President's Club Meeting on ... [+] October 17, 2017, in Washington D.C.

Project 2025, spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation with help from more than 100 other conservative groups , is a multi-part plan for the next conservative administration—namely a Trump presidency—which includes a LinkedIn-style database for presidential personnel hopefuls, training programs for executive branch positions and an as-yet-unreleased “playbook” laying out what Trump should do in his first 180 days.

Though the project is led by the Heritage Foundation and other private third-party groups and is not formally tied to Trump, who has tried to distance himself from the operation, its proposals were developed in part by former members of his administration and other Trump allies, and the ex-president has previously praised Heritage for its policy work.

The project has drawn the most attention for its “Mandate for Leadership,” a 900-page proposed policy agenda that describes itself as a “plan to unite the conservative movement and the American people against elite rule and woke culture warriors,” laying out plans for all aspects of the executive branch.

Personnel: Project 2025 broadly proposes to insert far more political appointees who are ideologically aligned with the president into the executive branch—replacing many of the nonpartisan career civil servants who serve in it now—proposing an executive order that would put political appointees into any “confidential, policy-determining, policymaking, or policy-advocating positions” (which Trump previously did at the end of his presidency, but President Joe Biden then overturned it).

Federal Agencies: It proposes a scaled-down federal government, including the abolishment of multiple agencies—including the Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau—whose remaining departments would be folded into other agencies or privatized, including the Transportation Security Administration.

Transgender Rights: Transgender rights and gender identity beyond biological sex are roundly rejected, with such steps as reinstating the ban on transgender Americans serving in the military, prohibiting public school educators from referring to students by anything other than their birth name and pronouns without parental permission, and ensuring no federal funds are used to provide gender-affirming care.

DEI and LGBTQ Rights: Project 2025 seeks to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs from throughout the federal government and in universities, and while it doesn’t outlaw same-sex marriage, it supports “nuclear families” that include a “married mother, father, and their children,” and calls for restricting laws that bar discrimination on the basis of sex to exclude sexual orientation and gender identity.

Climate Change: The proposal would undo much of the federal government’s climate work, including by leaving the Paris Climate Agreement, overhauling the Department of Energy to promote oil and natural gas and deemphasize green energy sources, removing the Department of Agriculture’s focus on sustainability and curtailing climate research.

Abortion: While Project 2025 doesn’t explicitly call for an abortion ban, it would take many steps to restrict the procedure, including directing the Food and Drug Administration to revoke its approval of abortion drug mifepristone, using the Comstock Act to block any abortion equipment or medication from being mailed—which abortion rights advocates have said would be a “backdoor” way to ban abortion—barring federal funds being used to provide healthcare coverage for abortion and requiring states to report all abortions that take place there to the federal government.

Education: Project 2025 emphasizes a “school choice” policy that directs public funds to be used for students to attend private or religious schools, bars “critical race theory” from being taught in federally funded schools and advocates for legislation that would allow parents to sue schools they feel have acted improperly—such as by teaching controversial subjects or requiring students to disclose information about their religious beliefs.

Student Loans: Student loan relief efforts would come to an end—including the public service loan forgiveness program and income-driven repayment plans—as the proposal states “borrowers should be expected to repay their loans.”

Big Tech: TikTok would be banned, and the proposal calls for reforming Section 230 —which shields tech companies and social media networks from being sued over content on their platforms—and allowing laws like those passed in Florida and Texas that seek to punish social media companies who ban or suspend users based on their “viewpoints.”

Justice Department: Project 2025 calls for a “top-to-bottom overhaul” of the DOJ and FBI that gets rid of what it calls an “unaccountable bureaucratic managerial class and radical Left ideologues,” proposing an agency that would be more focused on violent crime and filing litigation that’s “consistent with the President’s agenda” and filled with far more political appointees; it also proposes prohibiting the FBI from investigating misinformation or making “politically motivated” moves against U.S. citizens.

Taxes: Project 2025 would seek to get rid of current tax rates and most deductions and credits, instead proposing a 15% rate for anyone under the Social Security wage base ( $168,000 in 2024) and 30% for taxpayers earning more than that—which means the lowest-income taxpayers will now pay more and some higher earners will pay less, and it would also lower the corporate income tax rate to 18%.

Federal Reserve: The project seeks to reform the Federal Reserve by “tak[ing] the monetary steering wheel out of [its] hands and return[ing] it to the people,” which the authors propose could be done by getting rid of the government’s control over the nation’s money entirely—instead leaving it up to banks—or returning to the gold standard, in which the dollar’s value would be tied to a specific weight of gold.

Foreign Relations: Project 2025 emphasizes opposing China, which it describes as “a totalitarian enemy of the United States,” and directs the U.S. to pull out of international organizations when they don’t serve the administration’s interests, including the World Health Organization and various United Nations agencies.

Healthcare: Project 2025 does not seek to overturn the Affordable Care Act, but would make significant cuts to Medicaid and impose work requirements to receive coverage, as well as reform Medicare—including by making Medicare Advantage, a paid supplement to Medicare, the default option for patients.

Is Trump Involved With Project 2025?

Trump has denied any connection to Project 2025, claiming on Truth Social last week that he has “nothing to do with them,” has “no idea” who’s behind the plan and finds some of its ideas “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.” But many aren’t buying his claims: The team behind Project 2025 includes 140 people who worked for Trump in his administration, according to CNN , including six former Cabinet secretaries and four people he nominated as ambassadors. The ex-president has also seemingly endorsed the project in the past, saying at a 2022 dinner for the Heritage Foundation that the group was “going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do … when the American people give us a colossal mandate.”

What Impact Could Project 2025’s Policies Have?

Experts have warned Project 2025’s proposals could have seismic impacts on how the federal government operates if carried out. In an article for Justia , criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor John May suggested Project 2025’s language endorsing the executive branch being able to “restrain the excesses” of the judicial branch and Congress means “if the President wants to, the President can defy any decision of the Supreme Court, any legislation by Congress, maybe even the act of impeachment and removal from office.”

Who’s Behind Project 2025?

The main team behind Project 2025 includes Heritage Foundation director Paul Gans and former Trump White House personnel leaders Spencer Chretien (who also served as Trump’s special assistant) and Troup Hemenway, according to the project’s website. Other groups listed as participating in the project include ex-Trump adviser Stephen Miller’s America First Legal, legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, Liberty University, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and Turning Point USA. The 900-page policy agenda was co-authored by a series of conservative figures, with chapters penned by such Trump allies as former Housing Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, former Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, former HHS Civil Rights Director Roger Severino and former Trump advisor Peter Navarro, who went to prison in March for contempt of Congress.

Will Trump Have To Follow Project 2025’s Plans?

Trump will not be under any obligation to follow Project 2025’s proposals if he wins the presidency, though history suggests he’ll listen to at least some of them. The Heritage Foundation made a similar policy proposal for Trump ahead of his presidency in 2016, and boasted two years into his tenure that Trump had already followed 64% of its recommendations, CBS News notes .

Would Project 2025 Change Social Security?

One area that Project 2025 doesn’t touch on is Social Security benefits and any potential cuts to the program, even as proposals outline changes to numerous other government “entitlements.” Changing Social Security and making cuts to its spending has been a priority for the GOP for decades, though the American public has long opposed slashing benefits. Republicans’ efforts have waned under Trump, however, and the ex-president publicly claimed in March he “will never do anything that will jeopardize or hurt Social Security or Medicare,” after he came under fire for suggesting otherwise in an interview with CNBC.

Surprising Fact

While much of Project 2025’s policy agenda concerns federal agencies, the proposal has also gotten attention for its call to outlaw all pornography, which it claims is tied to “the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children” and is not protected under the First Amendment. Project 2025 calls not only for pornography to be made illegal, but also for anyone involved with its production and distribution to be imprisoned, for any librarians or educators who “purvey it” to be registered as sex offenders and for telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its distribution to be shut down.

Key Background

The Heritage Foundation’s practice of laying out a policy roadmap for a future Republican administration actually dates back to the Reagan era, founder Edwin J. Feulner noted in the afterword of the 2025 edition. The organization first laid out a blueprint in 1981 that President Ronald Reagan ultimately adopted, fulfilling half of its recommendations by the end of his first year in office. The Heritage Foundation has continued to come out with blueprints for potential conservative presidents each election since, it notes, and its 2025 Mandate for Leadership was published in 2023. While it came out last year, Project 2025 gained new attention in the past week since Trump disavowed it—sparking a wave of reports highlighting his ties to the figures behind the project that debunk his claims. Democrats have also used the controversial proposal as a key talking point and argument for why the left should unite behind President Joe Biden and focus on defeating Trump, particularly as Biden’s candidacy has come under widespread scrutiny in the wake of the president’s poor debate performance in June.
