This study examines the perception of Humanities and Social Science teachers among public Senior High Schools in the Department of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences strand in the Philippines. It uses Erden’s element-based model of evaluation by considering the alignment to the goals of the Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines, the purpose, and core courses of the program, and the teaching-learning process. It also uses Tyler’s Rationale as frameworks in assessing the curriculum. Likewise, the study examines the problems and difficulties in curricular implementation. Upon administering a survey to 25 Humanities and Social Science teachers among four public senior high schools, data revealed that the respondents perceived the curriculum goals, and the purpose of the program as highly observed, while the core courses of the program and teaching-learning process were satisfactorily observed in the curriculum. Also, sex and age were not factors in their level of assessment of Humanities and Social Science goals. The problems and difficulties encountered by teachers included unbalanced time allocation of learning competencies, lack of available learning materials, and lack of specialized teachers. Based on the findings, it is suggested that the government provide stronger teacher support programs to address the gap in curriculum implementation. The K to 12 program also needs a full review, as the study only provides a presurvey to more significant institutional issues. While the Humanities and Social Science curriculum appears aligned with the goals of their disciplines, and to the country’s educational goals, its realization still depends upon the teachers’ implementation in the classroom level.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the relationship between social interaction and academic performance among students in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand in Fortuna National High School. The study employed a quantitative method using a descriptive-correlational design. A total of 71 students were selected as the sample using simple random sampling through the fishbowl method. To validate and measure the reliability of the instrument, the researcher used test-retest and validated the questionnaire to three validators who have expert knowledge to the behavioral patterns and performance of students. The study found that student’s academic performance has a satisfactory level of 82.39. Meanwhile, the study also found that there is no significant relationship between students’ interaction with their family, peers, and teachers and their academic performance. This suggests that interaction with these important people do not have a significant impact on HUMSS student’s academic performance. The study further found that age and sex has no significant effect on their academic performance. The findings of this study have important implications for educators, parents, and students. Teachers should continuously promoted high-quality education to students and should work to create a positive and supportive classroom environment. Parents should also continuously provide a supportive and nurturing environment at home. It may not have a direct impact on academic performance but it still play a crucial role in a child’s overall well-being and development. Finally, students should maintain or continuously improve their academic performance. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the relationship between social interaction and academic performance among HUMSS students and highlights that student’s does not necessarily need frequent interaction to excel academically. Social skills include different behaviours which help an individual enter and interact in interpersonal relations. On the other hand, these skills are also learnt through the very same experience. Social skills are an important factor of students' acceptance and popularity among peers and also a factor of their academic achievement. In our research, we tried to establish how primary and secondary school teachers rate their students' social skills; we explored gender differences in evaluated social skills and investigated relations between social skills and students' academic achievement. 907 students participated in the study, of whom 470 were seventh-grade primary school students (231 boys and 239 girls), and 437 third-grade secondary school students (176 boys and 261 girls). Merrell's School Social Behaviour Scales (1992) were used for the assessment of students' social skills and homeroom teachers filled in the questionnaire for each participating student. Res...

This study dealt on the Social Environment as a predictor of students' behavior among Grade 12 students in Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School. The primary goal of the study was to determine the relationship between social environment and students' behavior among Grade 12 students in Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School, the levels of both social environment and students' behavior utilizing quantitative-correlational design with 167 respondents among Grade 12 students. Mean, Pearson (r) and Multiple Regression Analysis were the statistical tools used in this study. Results showed a high level of social environment as well as the students' behavior among Grade 12 students in Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School. Moreover, there was a significant relationship between the social environment and students' behavior, which means that social environment influence the students' behavior. Results also showed that the domains in social environment significantly influence the students' behavior. Hence, the researcher concluded that social environment predicts the behavior of students. It is recommended that the influence of social environment to the students' behavior may be raised into a higher level by conducting a friendly program that may help the students to widen their social environment. Also, school heads, parents and peer groups may maintain a positive environment toward the students to achieve a positive, productive and engaged behavior.

One hundred fifty-five respondents were chosen at random, and the researcher used the descriptive research design and questionnaire as the primary instruments to collect data. The school received a "Very High" rating for promotion, retention, and cohort or survival rates but a "Very Low" rating for failure and drop-out rates. There was a significant difference in the perception of the classroom social environment as to classroom mastery goals, classroom performance goals, classroom social interaction, classroom mutual respect, and classroom academic self-efficacy. There was a significant difference in the level of school performance on student progress and development as to failure rate, drop-out rate, promotion rate, retention rate, and cohort survival rate. There is a negligible relationship between the classroom social environment and the school student progress and development level.Regarding classroom mastery goals, classroom performance goals, classroom social interaction, classroom mutual respect, and classroom academic self-efficacy, there was a significant difference in perception. Concerning the failure rate, drop-out rate, promotion rate, retention rate, and cohort survival rate, there was a considerable variation in the level of school performance. The social climate in the classroom has very little bearing on how well students are progressing academically.

The main objective of this study is to determine the effect of socio-familial characteristics, gender, class repetition, and extracurricular activities on school results using a quantitative methodology, based on a non-experimental and correlational study. The sample was composed of 695 students from two schools (middle and high school) in the provincial administration of Mediouna. In order to collect the information, the participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire on their personal and socio-family data. The results obtained were processed by IBM SPSS 26 software. The results showed that the effect of socio-familial characteristics had a partially significant relationship with school grades with a weak effect. Same for class repetition, revision aid and extracurricular activities contribute significantly to school grades variation. Some have highly significant and significant effects for others with a weak partial square condition, on several school subject scores, namely, r...

Educational process of development occurs in the physical, social, cultural and psychological environment. A proper and adequate environment is very much necessary for a fruitful learning of the child. The child spends most of his time in school, and here his environment is exerting a different influence on performance through curricula, teaching techniques and relationship (Lawrence, 2012). School safety, academic climate, and the community are the different dimensions of school environment which help improve student's performance, attendance and retention in schools. Regardless of how it has been defined over the years, to a greater or lesser extent, all research on school climate finds a positive correlation between better school environment and increased student learning and achievement. In this context, a study was conducted by the researcher with an objective to comprehend the influence of school environment on the academic performance of stude...

Everything that we apply today is brought by research; it is where an individual is doing a careful study to preserve and improve the quality of life. In conducting research, the researcher must be cautious. They must allot sufficient time to complete each stage of the activity. The researchers should add more hours or weeks before the scheduled deadline because some things are more difficult than what the researcher expected. Research is tedious; however, teachers and students cannot escape this work because this is often used as an academic requirement. The researchers used the descriptive method of research. This design is the most appropriate because this study describes the challenges encountered by Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences Strand students in Practical Research 2 subject. The researchers found out that students face problems in terms of financial support in making research and collecting all the data coming from the questionnaire. Several students recommended that one must choose the topic that they think they will enjoy making research on. The researchers realized that many difficulties are present regarding the construction of a research study, and the problems are inevitable. However, there are also ways to overcome it. One must know their goal and the reasons why they will study the topic. The majority of the answers of the students showed that they are struggling in conducting research. Some students also answered that that research becomes easy when they can choose a topic that they are describes as interested in.
