1. There Are Tons of Benefits To Learning a Foreign Language

No matter where you’re from or how old you are, learning a foreign language has benefits. Since learning a new language uses your brain in a way that you otherwise would not, it strengthens brain functions like memory, problem solving, multi-tasking, and observation skills.

As a result, bilingual and polyglot students score higher in unrelated subjects than their monolingual counterparts. Learning about another culture in their own terms is not only a benefit for its own sake, but it can also help you consider other people’s perspectives in all kinds of situations.

It also applies to study and internships in foreign countries because plenty of companies are trying to learn from the experience of their foreign colleagues. In the case you know the foreign language, you can help in the translation of texts, preparation of documents, or during negotiations with foreign partners. Besides, you can learn some interesting and helpful information by reading foreign professional literature.

The second reason concerns traveling. Knowing the foreign language, you will be happy to listen to guided tours in original, chat with people with great ease and pleasure, and, who knows, maybe the foreign language you can speak will save the life of someone. The third reason in favor of knowledge of a foreign language is communication. Usually, to learn a foreign language well enough, it is necessary to plunge into the environment of living in that particular culture. In turn, such a dive does not pass entirely but forms certain personal qualities. For example, some studies have shown that people, who know more than one language, expand their horizons and are more likely to empathize taking the first steps in communication. Communication in a foreign language with native speakers will significantly strengthen your communication skills and develop life-long friendships (“Ten Amazing Reasons Why You Should Learn a Foreign Language,” par. 14).

Moreover, a foreign language helps you to enrich yourself culturally by watching movies in their original, listening to the voice and intonations of actors, and avoiding translators. You can listen to your favorite songs of foreign singers and understand their meaning with great pleasure. Despite the considerable amount of translated literature, the knowledge of a foreign language opens the door to the world of original literature. It is also essential to point out that by learning a foreign language, you can improve your native language as well. When people start to talk in a foreign language, which has its grammar, logic, and exceptions, they choose words and phrases in the native language to translate, which helps to increase the speech culture and vocabulary of the native language.

Besides, if you are interested in the events taking place in the world, the knowledge of the foreign language would be your advantage. You can easily understand the news as many world newspapers and Internet posts are published in a foreign language. Consequently, you will be able to understand the meaning of the above, taking into account all the details. It is much more objective than hearing a translation, where a lot can be unsaid or translated inappropriately. Thus, knowledge of a foreign language provides access to information, while it is commonly considered that he who owns the information – owns the world.

Finally, the last but not the least reason is probably, the most important. Knowledge of a foreign language expands consciousness. According to Merritt, “speaking a foreign language improves the functionality of your brain by challenging it to recognize, negotiate meaning, and communicate in different language systems” (par. 3). Your mind will be reconstructed to understand completely new concepts. In this sense, learning foreign languages is highly efficient due to switching codes. Switching from one language to another is a challenging job for the brain that is undoubtedly useful. Several studies have shown that among patients with dementia, symptoms began four years later in people who know two languages than in people who know one language (Merritt par. 6). In other words, the brain of bilinguals was struck but continued to operate at a higher level for a longer time.

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that people are blacksmiths of their happiness, and a lot in life depends on them. Knowledge of foreign languages gives people plenty of advantages. It is the opportunity to travel around the world without an interpreter, to read foreign literature, to watch foreign films in the original, and to have friends from different countries. If you are willing to change something in your life for the better, then learn a foreign language, and maybe somewhere, there is a pleasant surprise waiting for you, such as an exciting journey or attractive employment.

Did you have to learn a foreign language in school? Do those language classes not trigger happy memories? Even if they do, chances are your current job and/or other commitments don’t leave you enough time to continue taking formal language classes.

It’s not a mystery that we become better at what we focus on and practice.

And, even though your new language is “just” a hobby, it may also impact your work quite positively.

2. Connect Your New Language to Your Social Life

Learning a new language is a sure way to enrich your social life. It adds interest to your identity and provides you with new stories and topics to talk about at social gatherings.

Your new language also gives opportunities for making new friends. Shared interests are a great way to meet people.

In many places, there are cultural centers where you can attend film evenings, book discussions, or other social events. Or you can find a language meetup in your area where you can practice your target language over coffee or a beer.

There are also different kinds of larger gatherings for language enthusiasts. These have informal talks on all kinds of language topics and provide plenty of opportunities for social interaction.

When you’ve covered the basics of your target language, start using it for other things that interest you. That way your language skills will improve a lot.

Do some of your reading (news articles, etc.), listening (audiobooks, podcasts), and watching (films, TV) in the target language.

Having curiosity is a big asset! With a language comes a whole world of history and geography to explore. Not to mention music, food, film, literature, philosophy, and local and regional traditions.

Numerous groups on Facebook, Instagram, Google+, and YouTube deal with language learning – learners who share their progress and advice and teachers who provide content and/or market their program or language business.

Beyond YouTube videos that teach you a language, many videos (in popular languages) are made for native speakers. They explain how to play computer games (Minecraft, Fortnite), cook local dishes, build or fix things, etc. You’ll also find popular YouTube channels in various languages that feature comedy, fashion, travel, philosophy, you name it.

Above all, tie your language learning into other activities you like to do.

Use your favorite social media channel to post photos and drawings, videos, and things you’ve written. It’s a way to practice vocabulary, get pronunciation feedback, or get started on writing. At the same time, you’ll get better at the other skills involved.

4. Include Languages in Your Travel Experiences

Planning to travel? Part of the fun is preparing for your trip. If you learn at least some basic phrases in the local language, you’ll enjoy your experience more deeply.

So-called Slow Travel has recently become popular. It means staying for a week or two (or longer) in one place and exploring your surroundings on foot, by bike, on short train or bus trips, etc.

Subsequently it’s perfect for combining travel with your language hobby. Stay a week in a town, and you’ll get to know the neighborhood markets, the pubs, and cafes. You’ll meet some of the locals who go there. With them, you can use (and practice) your new language without anxiety. Once back from a stay like that, it’s easy to stay passionate about your new language.

Learning a language as a hobby takes away the traditional pressures and stresses of school performance. It puts you fully in charge of your own language acquisition. And thus it may be easier to silence your inner critic.

Learning a second language or a foreign language is linked to many advantages that far surpass the sole reasons of learning a new language for travelling or working in a foreign land. However, for the sake of playing the devil’s advocate, I’ll say that some people belonging to a different school of thought consider better job opportunities and travelling to be the only motive behind learning a foreign language. I am of the opinion that there are other reasons like learning about a foreign culture, and the bright prospect of cognitive development that propel many monolingual people to study a new language. With ever-increasing globalization and the opening up of international barriers, more and more people choose to emigrate to new and foreign lands in the hope of better job prospects. This often requires them to learn a new tongue. For instance, many people prefer learning languages like English, Spanish, and French, rather than the Russian language because countries speaking the former tongues have shown more affinity towards emigrants and provide a multitude of better job opportunities. This makes many people believe that jobs and sometimes travel are the only driving forces for learning a new tongue, especially for a young learner. On the other hand, some people including myself have researched the pros and cons of learning a foreign language thoroughly and have found that the pros far outweigh the drawbacks. The onset of memory ailments like dementia can be slowed down by cognitive development that comes with learning a foreign language. Furthermore, multilingual people are more confident and can easily acclimate themselves to new and alien surroundings by the virtue of their communication skills that have been expanded and upscaled. They find it easy to overcome language barriers and truly become global citizens speaking the global language. In conclusion, to go through the tough process of honing effective communication skills in a third language or a second language, people realise that it is not just for the sake of travel or work that they are doing this process. Instead, it stems from a deeper love for the language and the confidence that speaking a new tongue instills in them. Question – When living in a foreign country where you have to speak a new language, you can face serious social and practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? In my personal opinion, it can also spark serious problems in various countries, however, the widespread use of technology in curbing these issues to a certain extent over the past few decades. People belonging to different cultures can have issues in understanding each other because of speaking different languages and sometimes even because of different ways of pronunciation of the same words. Migration is not on the rise in the twenty-first century and people often move to distant lands in hopes of jobs, travel, and sometimes studying. In such a scenario not speaking the land’s language can become a basis for social problems like discrimination, racism, etc. Interestingly enough, technology has played a pivotal role in curbing the extent of practical problems faced by people when moving to a new land without being savvy with the foreign language. For instance, there are many web-based applications that do the translation job for people and save them the trouble of having to explain their point to the natives merely through vague hand gestures.

By way of conclusion, I stand firm on the point that social problems can far exceed practical problems when migrating to a foreign land without being fluent in the foreign language and perhaps, some language learning could really help in becoming a part of the foreign culture quicker and better. Although, as far as practical problems are concerned, technology is a boon that is eliminating most of them.

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school? Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? The idea of whether children should be taught a foreign language at primary or secondary school is still debatable. Many people are of the opinion that it is more beneficial for a child to learn a second language at secondary school rather than primary. In this essay, I will attempt to explain the advantages and disadvantages of this view from my own personal perspective. To begin with, a child's mind cannot absorb too many contents at primary school and bombarding him with words from two languages (native and foreign) may lead his mind into a state of confusion. A student studying at Class one for instance, who just started to talk in his mother tongue will face great difficulty in learning a second language. Thus, it would be more appropriate to teach such a child a second language at secondary school where his mind will be ready to learn a new language. Secondly, in some situations, for instance in the case of an immigrant child, it would become very stressful for the child when he has to learn three languages (Native, Country Language, foreign language at school) simultaneously at primary school. In worse circumstances, as some researchers have shown from their studies, such children have difficulty in deciding which language to speak and may end up learning nothing. clearly, this child would face no difficulty if he is taught the third language at secondary school. Other commentators are of the view that foreign languages should be taught at primary school as it will spark the interest of learning new languages in the child's mind and as he grows up, by the time he enters secondary school he might be able to communicate in the foreign language. The argument here is that if such language is taught at secondary school, most of the children will not take interest in learning and may find it unnecessary. To recapitulate. children are mentally ready to learn a second language at secondary school and also suitable in circumstances where the child has to learn more languages. It is the responsibility of the child if he wants to continue learning this language after secondary school or not. The right time for children to learn second languages has been a riddle since society started thinking about global citizenship and opportunity, especially in countries whose first language is not English. Most professional in the field believed that it is best to start learning second language at primary school while other practitioner suggested that start to learn that in secondary school is more efficient. I believe that the best time to start learning second language is at primary school. It is due to the fact that for biological reason, it is more beneficial and children can have an early exposure to the language. Medical research found out that the primordial part of the brain is responsible for emotional sensing, reflexive movement, and imitating ability. This imitating ability, which is developing significantly during primary school period, contributes significantly in language learning. On the other hand, logical thinking ability is developed later, that is during secondary school phase. This brain development knowledge is very fundamental information to support the idea that the best time to learn second language is during primary school. Many language researchers, educators, and experts believed that each individual needs different time to absorb every aspect of new language learned such as grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. This learning curve, which can not be accelerated, can only be balanced by starting it at early as possible. By doing so, children can get early exposure to the language. Thus, they also more get used to and are more confident in using it. For this reason, it is obvious that starting it early in primary school give children more benefits. After compiling that brain development phase information about imitating ability that contributes to language training as well as the fact that getting early exposure that can give more advantages, it is clear that the best time to begin learning foreign language is at primary school.

Learning a foreign language such as English is essential for our daily life, continued higher education, business, etc. But it’s a big controversy when to start it. Whether it should be initiated at primary level education or at secondary school level. I think it would be better to inaugurate learning another nation’s voice at primary level education. If we organize our children to be taught a foreign language at primary school, they can catch and follow instructions regarding this easily. Furthermore, it is easier for them to remember this early period learning for a long-time, since at this tender age the brain remains fresh and sharp to follow any instructions. Along with this, children’s foundation on that particular language becomes stronger that ultimately makes them more interested about that nation. Yet, some experts think differently. According to them, it is not wise making students’ interest about a second language before secondary level education. Firstly, it will put extra pressure on their brain. Secondly, this approach may make students reluctant about their mother language, which will hinder them to learn more about their culture, customs, and country as well. But, I do not agree with these cheap, awkward opinions. This is because I don’t believe beginning foreign language learning at primary school will put that much of an enormous stress on the kids’ mind and body. If adequate measures are taken during teaching they can enjoy it. On the other hand, side by side teaching institutes should be cautious about their attitude toward the mother language. Some school of thoughts argue that a foreign language should be learnt in the primary school while others argue that this strategy would put extra amount of pressure on the innocent children and subsequently considering the importance, necessity and obligation of learning a foreign language then I strongly believe the thoughts of the first party. Apparently the advantages of learning a foreign language in the primary level cross the minor number of disadvantages. Generally the age of childhood is very fresh and not any type of psychological pressure from their home and outside the home is on their shoulders and they are just free to play, enjoy and study, so the structure of the foreign language can easily be copied in their minds and finally they can become more mature when they get qualified to the secondary school due to the long term procedure. On the other hand some school teachers devise quiet complicated teaching methodologies for teaching students and in the result the children get bored and failed in clearing the examinations of the foreign language. Therefore students could get mentally confused and discouraged to follow up the other school subjects as well. For instance my cousin was trying hard to learn the English language but did not succeed to pass the very basic English language examinations and he also complained for the identical reason. To sum up all the observations then we can get a perception that teaching a foreign language to the students of the primary school is the best idea and beneficial for the future of the students but meanwhile a very slow and progressive, enjoyable and transparent teaching strategies should be planned in order to provide a very delightful environment to the lower aged students. Some schools of thoughts argue that children should start learning foreign languages from primary school while others argue that it would be more of burden on primary school pupils to start learning foreign languages at an early age. I strongly believe that students should learn foreign languages from primary school. Both the pros and cons of this argument will be discussed before reaching a reasonable conclusion. To begin, some people think that a student does not have any psychological burden in his/her childhood so this is the perfect age for learning a new language. Moreover, pupils will be more confident to speak a foreign language with anyone if they learn it in primary school. Also, children’s minds are ready to learn new things easily in their early age. As an example, some high secondary students are having difficulties in speaking English language, the reason being that they did not learn English language in their childhood. However, there are some plausible counters to this argument. Some plebeians believe that by learning English in primary school students would feel a burden on them. Also, there will be some chances to lose the importance of their native language if students concentrate on foreign languages from an early age. For instance, by giving priority to foreign languages some students are not properly able to speak their native language. In conclusion, according to these arguments it seems that there are strong benefits of learning English in primary school rather than secondary school. It is very clear now that English should be the primary foreign language taught in all schools around the world. Learning a different foreign language before English is, in today’s world, a waste of time. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? There is no deny that English is the top most widely spoken language in the world. The practice of speaking and writing in English came into existence since centuries. It continued to be popular and familiar to various nation, majorly because of the British influence. However most of the people, agree that learning a foreign than English is waste of time. First of all, the popularity of learning English is increasing day by day in countries like Middle east, South east asia and African countries. Teaching English in the schools helps the pupils to gain international language experience. For example, it broader employment and higher education opportunities in English speaking countries more than non- English speaking countries. Moreover, all the famous literatures from the ancient to modern are written in English. On the other hand, in a few countries like Japan, China and Korea the government and public only shows interest in their respective native languages. In the today’s present busy world, people learn foreign language like Spanish, French as a hobby which would not be a beneficial in their real life, except unless they visit the language spoken country. However, English has international reorganization and only primary foreign language to promote the business across the globe. Although, teaching a new foreign language in schools other than English will not be a success in practice, because hardly students find the person who speaks outside the school. In summary, English is the only ultimate foreign language that can be taught in schools without second the thought. However, I feel that learning a new language other than English is waste of time because it will be less in practice. Please could someone give me some feedback?

Why should you learn a new language?

Learning a new language is a complex task, but the benefits of language learning include social and cultural connections, as well as health and cognitive advantages. Research shows that it's never too early or too late to start learning a new language -- our brains are far more adaptive and flexible than previously thought, and our brains are built for language learning! Whether you are 8 or 80, learning French or Korean, studying a new language for the first time ever or for the first time in 50 years, there's never been more reason and more support for learning a new language.

Connect to people and cultures

Language is all about communication and connection, and studying a new language brings people and cultures closer to us. At the beginning, learning a language might feel like all vocabulary and grammar, but it doesn't take long to build up the skills to make meaningful connections in the new language. In fact, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (or CEFR ) prioritizes personal, family, and descriptive language for beginners.

Learners today have more access to more languages -- Duolingo has courses in 40 languages -- and so the importance of personal and cultural reasons for language study is becoming clearer. A recent report shows that interest in culture drives learners to Korean, and this trend is likely linked to the rise of Korean entertainment and media, including K-pop and Korean dramas. The study also shows that family reasons are especially important for those choosing to study Chinese. Language is such a strong link to heritage that in some places we see the local language has become more popular on Duolingo than languages like Spanish and French: Hawaiian and Japanese are now the second and third most popular languages to study in Hawaii, and Irish has overtaken Spanish as the most popular language to study in Ireland.

Challenge your brain

Adults' brains may not be quite as flexible as children's, but they are still really adaptable and ready to learn! Most learners can reach their communication goals without striving for the vaguely-defined concept of "fluency," and your adult brain is definitely equipped for that kind of language learning. Even after just a few months of language study, adult learners' brains show changes and even some processing patterns like those of native speakers. And after a year of learning, adults show improvements in the kind of cognitive adaptations that make bilinguals successful in switching between their languages.

Being bilingual trains your brain to perform a cognitively complex task: turning one language "down" while turning the other "up," in every interaction, for every word! Bilinguals' brains treat languages like a seesaw, raising one up higher when it's needed, and pushing lower the one not being used. This push-and-pull in their brains gets bilinguals practicing a specific kind of attention and control .

Bilinguals who codeswitch , or use both their languages in the same conversation, are getting another kind of cognitive workout by keeping their language seesaw balanced: they might move from all one language, to all another language, and then to really sophisticated systems of mixing that use both languages at once!

Support healthy aging

For older adults, language learning can serve as an engaging activity that promotes problem solving and strategizing, which research shows can improve cognitive functioning .

Languages provide new ways of interacting with people in our communities and around the world. While students may have the option of learning a new language in school, technology makes it easier than ever before for older adults to learn, too. Apps, virtual language meet-ups like Duolingo Events , and online forums give adults ways to engage directly with language practice partners and native speakers. Exploring new cultures, travel, and making new social connections with people around the world can also have a positive impact on older adults. For example, research shows that interacting more regularly with more people has benefits for older adults' health and quality of life .

Bilingual adults who use their languages regularly may even show a delayed onset of dementia symptoms compared to monolinguals -- bilingual brains are better able to resist the disease and function healthily for longer!

It's never too early or too late to start learning!

From your brain's perspective, people of any age can learn new languages -- but it's typically harder for adults to find the time and resources to get the learning to stick. Language learning takes time and patience, and it should also be enjoyable.

The best way to learn a language is whatever method motivates you to keep at it! Here are some ways to start your learning journey today:

• Use free tools and resources to try different things and discover what works for you.
• Find ways to practice a little bit at a time, every day. It's better to study 5 minutes every day than an hour one day a week!
• Link your study time with other parts of your schedule to help you remember and fit in language practice. You could do lessons with your morning coffee, read a bit on your afternoon commute, or listen to music in the language while working out.
• Label household objects with stickers of the words in the new language. You can go room-by-room or focus on the objects that you interact with the most.
• Watch shows on your favorite streaming service with audio in the new language and captions in your own language. This will help train your ear, and it won't even feel like studying!
• Find or create a playlist with songs in the language you're studying. This is a great way to get used to common phrases, and the repetition in songs is great for learning. The language will really get into your head!
• Follow social media accounts that post in the language you're learning, enabling you to see posts about your favorite topics in the language as you scroll.
• For languages you have some experience with, change your phone's interface to the language. You'll learn tons of useful vocabulary really quickly.

En el caso de los adultos mayores, el aprendizaje puede servir como una actividad entretenida que promueva la resolución de problemas y el pensamiento estratégico, los cuales pueden mejorar el desempeño cognitivo ,* según indican los estudios.

Los idiomas nos proveen de nuevas formas de interactuar con los miembros de nuestras comunidades y con comunidades en todo el mundo. Aunque se puede elegir aprender un nuevo idioma en una escuela, la tecnología hace que aprender hoy sea más fácil que nunca, incluso para los adultos mayores. One of the main benefits of having a hobby is that it is a major stress-buster. You actually enjoy doing it and it satisfies your soul.

My Favourite Hobby

If I were to pick one favourite hobby of mine out of the many I have, I will definitely pick gardening. I developed a taste for dancing when I was very young. The way my feet moved to the rhythm of the music convinced my parents that I was a born dancer. Dancing is very uplifting as well as economical.

I have always had a love for music and dance. However, I never realized the utter joy they bring to humans. Dancing gives us a lot of exercises. It teaches us to move our body rhythmically and feel the beat of every song. This kind of physical exercise is extremely delightful and enjoyable.

Moreover, dance also taught me how to stay strong and push my limits. I have had many injuries while dancing, too many bruises and cuts but that didn’t stop me from pursuing it further. In fact, it pushes me to do my best and realize my potential more than ever.

I have enrolled in dancing classes because I wish to make my hobby my career. I feel we all should do things which we enjoy doing. Everyone is running after money and in this race, they give up their likings and preferences. I have learned from this race and decided to not take part in it. I wish to take the road less traveled by and take on challenges most people don’t dare to.

In short, my hobby of dancing makes me feel alive and well. It is the only thing I look forward the most to. Thus, I hope to achieve my dream of being a professional dancer and making way for people who wish to make careers out of their hobbies.

So the speaker was saying about 취미 hobbies in this story. 여러분은 취미가 많아요? Do you guys have any hobbies? Well, 저는 예전에는 취미가 많이 없었는데 지금은 많아요. I didn’t have a lot of hobbies, but I have many now. 

왜냐하면 저는 다양한 관심사가 많기 때문이에요. Because I have various types of interests, here the word 관심사 is a little bit different from the word 관심. Both terms are translated as interests, but nuance-wise, it’s a bit different.

관심 means interests or attention, while 관심사 implies things that attract your interests. For example, 저는 자전거에 관심이 많아요 means I’m interested a lot in bicycles while 저는 관심사가 많아요 mean I have many things that attract my attention. Do you see the difference? All right, great!

Then now, let’s see the sentence structure—왜냐하면 —- 기 때문이에요. So to say 왜냐하면 for meaning because then you should end the sentence with verb + 기 때문이에요. Otherwise, it sounds incomplete. 

To add a verb to the expression 기 때문이에요 is easy. You can just utilize the verb stem part, the verb part without 다. So for example, 많다 to be a lot, take out 다 and just add 기 때문이에요. Then the form is completed like 많기 때문이에요. So keep a note that if you start the sentence with “왜냐하면 because,” you have to end the sentence with – 기 때문이에요. The whole combination means like “it’s because of the reason is (blank – state your reason)-“

So don’t forget this. Okay, then now let’s hear the next part.

우선 제일 좋아하는 취미는 자전거 타기예요. 자전거를 타면 좋은 경치를 보면서 운동을 할 수 있어요. 좋은 경치를 보면 스트레스가 풀려요. 그래서 일이나 공부 때문에 스트레스 받을 때 마다 자전거를 타 요. 

우선 제일 좋아하는 취미는 자전거 타기예요. First of all, the hobby that I like the most is riding a bicycle. 자전거 타기 riding a bicycle. If you add 기 after a verb stem, you can turn it into nouns corresponding roughly to “-ing” in English like “riding a bicycle, studying Korean,” and so on. 

In the third paragraph as well, we could hear the same expression. It was 한국어 공부하기 studying Korean. So I took out 다 and added 기 instead, so now it’s 한국어 공부하기. 

So we can use such expressions to say like this—제 취미는 자전거 타기예요. My hobby is riding a bicycle—제 취미는 한국어 공부하기예요. My hobby is studying Korean. 

Since it’s not very complex in conjugation, you can easily use this form in many ways.

And let’s see an expression point in this sentence. A verb stem + 고 싶어요 means I want to the meaning of the verb. When making small talk, it’s very common to talk about your hobbies (爱好 – Ài hào). After all, talking about what you like to do in your free time is always more interesting than talking about what you have to do at work or school. To help you build your vocabulary and learn how to talk about your hobbies, here’s a short article all in Chinese about mine.

我的爱好是：旅行，听音乐，看书，做运动，看电影，和去饭店吃饭，去酒吧喝酒。我很喜欢旅行。除了中国我已经去过几个国家－加拿大，墨西哥，牙买加，荷兰，意大利，希腊，日本，韩国，泰国，和老挝。明年我打算去东南亚洲，比如：越南，柬埔寨，马拉西亚，新加坡，什么的。我也很喜欢听音乐。我全天听音乐－在家里，在健身房，在路上，或者在公司。我会弹吉他，也会拉大提琴。我爱看音乐会。做运动的话我喜欢打篮球，游泳，爬山，跑步，骑自行车，打保龄球，和玩飞盘。在家里我喜欢看书或者电影。周末的时候我喜欢跟朋友们一起去出玩。我们常常先去饭店吃饭然后去酒吧喝酒。什么菜我都喜欢吃。我喜欢喝黑啤或者鸡尾酒。

I really like traveling. In addition to China, I’ve already been to many countries – Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Holland, Italy, Greece, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Laos.

明年我打算去东南亚洲，比如：越南，柬埔寨，马拉西亚，新加坡，什么的。

míng nián wǒ dǎ suàn qù dōng nán yà zhōu, bǐ rú: yuè nán, jiǎn pǔ zhài, mǎ lā xī yà, xīn jiā pō, shén me de.

Next year I intende to go to Southeast Asia, for example: Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and so on.

我也很喜欢听音乐。我全天听音乐－在家里，在健身房，在路上，或者在公司。

wǒ yě hěn xǐ huan tīng yīn yuè. wǒ quán tiān tīng yīn yuè – zài jiā lǐ, zài jiàn shēn fáng, zài lù shàng, huò zhě zài gōng sī.

I also really like listening to music. I listen to music all day long – at home, at the gym, on the road, or at my company.

I can play the guitar, and also the cello.

I love going to concerts.

做运动的话我喜欢打篮球，游泳，爬山，跑步，骑自行车，保龄球，和玩飞盘。

As far as doing exercise, I like playing basketball, swimming, hiking, running, cycling, going bowling, and playing frisbee.

在家里我喜欢看书或者电影。

zài jiā lǐ wǒ xǐ huan kàn shū huò zhě diàn yǐng.

At home I like reading books or watching movies.

周末的时候我喜欢跟朋友们一起去出玩。我们常常先去饭店吃饭然后去酒吧喝酒。

zhōu mò de shí hou wǒ xǐ huan gēn péng yǒu men yī qǐ qù chū wán. wǒ men cháng cháng xiān qù fàn diàn chī fàn rán hòu qù jiǔ bā hē jiǔ.

On the weekends, I like going out with my friends to play. We often go to a restaurant to eat first, and then go to a bar to drink.

什么菜我都喜欢吃。我喜欢喝黑啤或者鸡尾酒。

shén me cài wǒ dōu xǐ huan chī. wǒ xǐ huan hē hēi pí huò zhě jī wěi jiǔ.

I like eating any kind of food. I like drinking dark beer or cocktails.
