Canva is an incredible online design software that allows you to create many things including stunning presentations.

But if you’re a PowerPoint user you might be wondering how to export your Canva slides as a PowerPoint presentation?

In this article, we’ll take you through the process step by step, including how to keep your animated elements from Canva.

Let’s dive right in.

Jump to a specific section:

Step 1: Download your Canva slides

Step 2: open the .pptx doc in powerpoint, step 3: copy or add animation.

If you haven’t created your presentation in Canva yet – check out these incredible Canva presentation slide templates to get started.

If you have, open up your Canva slides document, and once you’ve made all your updates and you’re happy with it you can now download it.

You can download as a PDF file, or publish it online, or if you want to export it as a PowerPoint presentation (.pptx) you can do that too. Here’s how:

Go to the ‘Share’ button at the top right and click ‘More’:

Scroll down to the ‘Save’ options and choose ‘Microsoft PowerPoint’:

Choose the slides you want to download, and hit the download button:

You will now have a PowerPoint presentation (.pptx) file in your downloads folder that you can open up.

The next step is to check if everything in your presentation was exported from the Canva slides to a PowerPoint presentation correctly.

In the past, elements such as the text fonts, graphs, videos, and some graphics didn’t export correctly but Canva has mostly fixed these issues so your export will likely be completely fine.

It’s worth checking though!

As an example, our .pptx export contained a couple of videos in one of the slides. One of the videos remained in that format:

Whilst the other one was converted into an image element:

Most of the elements will be converted properly but as you can some elements such as animations and videos might not convert correctly.

There is a workaround for this, which we’ll cover in the next step.

To convert Canva slides with animation into PowerPoint presentation slides here’s what you have to do:

First, go back to your Canva presentation, and download the pages with animation as GIFs. Simply, go to ‘Share’ then ‘Download’ and select the page or pages that you want to download:

Then, select GIF as your file type, and hit the download button:

The last step is to add a blank slide in your PowerPoint presentation, upload the downloaded GIF image into that new blank slide and adjust it to cover the PowerPoint page and that’s it!

You’ll now have an animated slide in your PowerPoint presentation.

You can also simply download the full Canva presentation and convert it to a PowerPoint presentation and then add animations within PowerPoint instead.

How to Download Video from Canva

You can use Canva video templates to create videos for almost all your marketing, educational, and social purposes.

Canva has done the hard and boring work for you which makes it invaluable as a design tool.

Not only are Canva videos instantly in the correct format to share on pretty much every known social media platform but they’re also set to the correct dimensions. 

Select Video Project

To download your Canva video, first open your video project in the Canva workspace.

Click on the “Projects” button in the menu panel to the left of the workspace.

Once clicked, the projects panel will be opened and all your saved design projects will be displayed, including your video projects.

Scroll through your projects until you find the video you wish to download.

Click on your video project and it will open in your Canva workspace. 

Download Video

Once the video project is open in your workspace, you will have two options to download your video: either using the “Share” button or the “File” button.

You can download videos by clicking on the “File” button in the top menu bar.

In the drop-down menu that appears, scroll down and select “Download”.

When “Download” is clicked, a pop-up window will appear to the right of your workspace.

Under “File type” you can choose which format to save the video.

To download videos, Canva suggests using the MP4 Video format.

Select MP4 Video and click the “Download” button. 

Your video will now begin to download.

Share your Video

You might want to skip the download option and just head straight to sharing.

After all, that’s what you most likely created your videos for, right?

In the right-hand corner of the top menu bar, you’ll find the “Share” button.

Click on this button and a drop-down menu will appear. 

Here you will find the option for downloading videos or sharing videos.

You can choose from “Share with people”, “Copy a video link”, or “Share on social”.

To share the video directly to social media scroll down to “Share on social”.

The social media platform options range from Facebook to Pinterest to LinkedIn.

Make sure that your video template is compatible in format and dimensions with the social media platform you are sharing it on.

Removing Canva Watermarks

If you have a free Canva user account, Canva will prompt you to upgrade to a Canva Pro account when downloading videos.

You can still download the video using a free account, but some of the videos will be marked with Canva watermarks. 

To download Canva videos without watermarks, you will either need to upgrade your subscription or pay a one-off fee for the use of the video.

Now you know how to share and download your Canva videos you will have ample options for creating mesmerizing marketing material or having fun making videos to share with your friends.

Why Can’t I Download Video from Canva?

Are you having problems downloading videos from Canva?

There are several reasons why you might be prevented from downloading a Canva video. Try following these troubleshooting steps. 

1. Check your internet connection. If you are properly connected to the internet, you might also want to check the connection isn’t too weak to support downloading large files.

If this is the case, move to a place with a stronger signal if you’re using a mobile device, or try rebooting your modem. 

2. Check the video format is compatible with Canva. Canva supports MP4 and MOV.

If your video is in a different format you will need to change it to a Canva-compatible format.

3. Check the video or images in the video are not subject to a copyright license. If they are, this could be preventing you from downloading the video.

Check the video copyright license and either upgrade to a Canva Pro account or pay to use the video.

4. The last troubleshooting possibility is that the video could be too large to download. 

Try reducing the number of elements in your video. Canva also recommends keeping your video to 30 minutes or less, and reducing the resolution down to 1080p (1920×1080) if possible.

Step 1: Add Animations in Canva

How to download video in canva (step by step).

Knowing how to download video from Canva correctly is important since if you get the wrong settings, you may end up with a much lower-quality video than expected. Luckily, you don’t need to be a videographer with pro-level skills to export a high-quality video using Canva.

In this guide, I’ll explain why you should choose MP4 or GIF file formats for your export. I’ll also explain what you need to do to remove the Canva watermarks on some clips you might want to use if you run into problems with those.

How To Download High-Quality Video From Canva

Step 1: open the video in canva and preview it before exporting .

After you’re finished compiling your scenes, preview your video before exporting. You don’t want to waste time exporting it again after finding and fixing a flaw. 

To preview your movie, click the Play button at the top right of the screen. The Play button will also show you the duration of your video. 

Step 2: Click Share, Then Select Download

To start the process of exporting your video, first click the Share button. You can find the Share button in the top right corner of the screen next to the Play button. Then, in the menu that pops down, select Download . 

Step 3: Set The File Type To MP4 Video And Adjust The Settings

In the File Type menu, choose MP4 Video . The GIF format is suitable for short videos that loop, so for a high-quality video, select MP4. 

The next important setting is the Quality setting. For high-quality video, there are two settings: 1080p (HD) and 4K (UHD) . 

Just make sure to go at least 1080p for your quality. Any lower will result in a blurry, low-quality video. If you plan to showcase your video on a big-screen TV, choose 4K under quality. 4K will give you the proper resolution to prevent your video from looking blurry. 

Note: If you are using video files recorded in 1080p, exporting them as 4K will not improve the quality of the video. It will instead upscale the media files and possibly lead to quality loss.

Step 4: Select All Pages And Click Download

After setting your File Type and Quality, make sure that All Pages are selected under Select Pages . Finally, click Download to export your video to your computer. 

MP4 vs. GIF Downloads For Canva Videos

MP4 files are best used when a high-quality video with sound is needed, as they can store audio and video data. Audio is not required when exporting to MP4, so don’t worry if your video is silent.

GIF files are best used when a looping animation or a short video clip is needed. GIFs are limited to 256 colors, so they can’t provide the same level of detail as MP4 files. They have a much smaller file size, making them better suited for social media platforms.

Free Canva users can only download up to 30 minutes of an MP4 video and only 1 minute of a GIF. Canva Pro users can download 2 hours of an MP4 video and up to 2 minutes of a GIF. 

How To Remove Watermarks From Videos In Canva

If you’re using a free version of Canva, you may notice the Canva watermark on some of the video clips. 

As a free Canva user, you don’t have the rights to use that clip as it is only available to users on the paid plan. To remove any watermarks, click the Remove Watermarks tag in the top right corner of the video clip. 

In the menu that pops down, you will find the price of the clip. You can click Purchase and input your payment details to buy the rights to use that clip only. This will remove the watermark instantly for that clip and that clip alone. 

If you want to use premium clips from Canva in your content, purchasing a Canva Pro membership is the best idea.
