Tillu Square X Review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda & Anupama Parameswaran's Crime-Comedy Finally Debuts On BIG Screen

Tillu Square X Review: Tillu Square, the hyped and much-awaited sequel of Siddhu Jonnalagadda's DJ Tillu, finally arrived on the big screens worldwide amid great enthusiasm. The movie which was directed by Mallik Ram was opened across theatres on March 29 to no competition. After the movie hit the screens in the USA and other parts of the world, blockbuster reviews are pouring in for Tillu Square, much to the excitement of the filmmakers, actors, and the fans.

Touted to be a dark crime-comedy drama, the movie features Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead character and will have another sequel to it. Ahead of the film's release, Siddhu Jonnalagadda said that there will be another sequel and the climax will be shocking to all. He also confirmed a cameo of an actress and it is none other than Neha Shetty, who played the infmaous 'Radhika' in DJ Tillu, reportedly.

Tillu Square Synopsis

After keeping the amount to himself after Radhika was imprisoned, Tillu becomes an event organizer but doesn't mend his ways. He again falls in love with Lilly from the moment he sets his eyes on her. He tries to woo her and follows her. Eventually, Tillu again lands in a big mess.

Tillu Square movie is drawing all the lime light this weekend and the movie is sure going to rock at the box office. The movie's pre-release business was also impressive and the digital streaming rights were sold for a whopping Rs 35 Crore, an envious deal.

Ashta Chamma is a simple movie with an amusing plot. Despite being the debut film of the main leads, the movie received wide appreciation for Nani and Swathi Reddy’s performances. The movie deals with how a fangirl of Mahesh Babu marries a namesake and finds herself in distress when she finds out that her husband’s real name is in fact not Mahesh. 3. Nuvvu Naaku Nachchav 

Starring Aarthi Aggarwal, Daggubatti Venkatesh and Flora Saini among others, Nuvvu naaku Nachav is a Telugu romantic comedy with the best dialogue. Yes, this one is the original Kick from which the Hindi Kick was adapted. The Telugu Kick released in 2009 stars Ravi Teja and Ileana D’cruz in the lead role. It is an action comedy that also deals with a twisted love story. It is considered to be one of the funniest movies in the Telugu film industry which also sends an inspiring message of how one should do what makes them happy. It is available on Youtube .

5. Aa Okati Adakku 

You don’t often get to see a movie that aims to convey a serious message in a playful and funny manner. Aa okati adakku does exactly that. The movie, starring Rambha, Rajendra Prasad and Rao Gopal Rao does exactly that. It beautifully showcases the differences in mannerisms of various classes of society through a comical plot. YES! Another OG movie that we might have missed out on. The Hindi Ready too was a hit but we need to give credit where it’s due. This Ready stars Ram Pothinenni and Genelia D’souza in the lead roles along with Brahmanandan who managed to steal the limelight in this one. (Truly, is any South Indian comedy movie complete without Brahmanandan?) The story narrates the tale of a family trying their best to resolve a dispute to aid a blooming love story. 7. Maryada Ramanna

Maryada Ramanna is again a 2010 Telugu movie that has been remade in Hindi with the name Son Of Sardar. While Son of Sardar might have failed the Indian Audience, Maryada Ramanna is considered one of the biggest family entertainers. It is recognized for its direction by S.S. Rajamouli (Yes, the director who gave us RRR and Baahubali). The plot is a mix of romance, comedy, action and drama which has proven to be a recipe for success in Indian cinema. 8. Malliswari 

Starring Katrina Kaif in the titular role, Malliswari is a movie like no other. It is once again an amusing romantic comedy with an unusual plot that will keep you entertained throughout. It has Daggubatti Venkatesh opposite Katrina Kaif which makes for an interesting love story. The male lead finds himself in trouble after he comes to know that his lover is a rich heiress who is on a hitlist.

9. Jamba Lakidi Pamba 

The 1993 movie again is a timeless classic in the comedy genre in the Telugu film industry. It follows an unparallelled plot where a woman reverses the roles of men and women with a magical herb. The chaos that then ensues is worth a watch. It’s filled with humour and is one of the best Telugu comedy movies of all time. You will find yourself wanting to go back to watch the movie again and again. It was also remade under the same name in 2018. The original movie can be watched for free on youtube.

10. Thotti Gang

Thotti Gang is a testament that true friends will go to any lengths to get you back. The 2002 movie stars Allari Naresh, Prabu Dheva, Gajala, Sunil and Anita Hassanandani and is a full-on entertainer. It revolves around how a group of best friends try to save one of their friends from a relationship by abducting his high school sweetheart. It is a straight-up comedy flick- ideal if you wanna wind down after a tiring week in the office.

Idiot is a romantic comedy starring Ravi Teja, Rakhsita and Prakash Raj and is directed by Puri Jagannadh. Although the romantic element of the movie is more dominant, the comedy scenes too have a separate fanbase. The movie is a beautiful portrayal of what true love is and is also poignant to some extent. It is a fun and spectacular family watch. Idiot is available to watch on Hotstar .

This Telugu comedy movie also contains the right amount of mystery which will take you through a series of emotions. Known for its comedic timing, the movie deals with how a group of friends ends up getting involved in a double murder mystery on a train. The movie stars Sneha, Ravi Teja and Brahmanandam among others, and is considered to be one of the Best Telugu comedy movies by the audience.

13. Shankar Dada MBBS 

As opposed to what we saw in the above examples, this movie is in fact a remake of the Hindi film Munna Bhai MBBS. Both films proved to be massive hits for their target audiences. It was an all-time blockbuster. Watch both renditions to maximise fun and have the time of your life!

What’s it about?

Vaasthu (Chaitanya Rao) and his lawyer friend Rag Mayur believe they have struck gold when they discover a softdrink bottle containing Keeda (cockroach). The lawyer decides to sue the corporation for Rs 5 crore. Jeevan (Jeevan), on the other hand, seeks the assistance of his recently released brother Naidu (Tharun Bhasker), who actually plants a cockroach in that bottle.

When Naidu’s gang, the lawyer’s gang, and the corporate company owner’s hired gang compete for dominance, chaos ensues.

Tharun Bhascker’s “Keeda Cola” is a crime comedy with a wholly offbeat manner of narration and an appropriate amount of black humor.

With his first two blockbusters, Pelli Choopulu and Ee Nagariniki Emaindi, Tharun Bhascker won over audience comprised primarily of young people; the later film, however, was met with mixed reviews. After a lengthy hiatus, he returned to directing with a film that departs radically from his previous work.

The plot of “Keedaa Cola” reminded me of the crime comedies of the Coen brothers, in which one or two gangs try to hit the jackpot but have their plans foiled by random events and characters. The Coen brothers are known for creating works with outlandish plots and characters. It appears that Tharun Bhascker has made an effort to do the same, albeit in his own unique fashion.

The Naidu role, which the filmmaker played, is a perfect illustration of Tharun Bhascker’s talent as a writer. Naidu, freshly released from jail, commits crimes while philosophizing. He preaches nonmaterialism and an “inward journey” (lopaliki velli vachanu), but he acts strangely and even carries a gun. Brahmanandam plays a character who uses a wheelchair throughout the film. The seasoned comedian plays a role that is the only one who makes rational comments and provides some level of composure in an otherwise chaotic environment.

The story hardly counts here. The characters and the situations they find themselves in matter.

There are some stand out sequences…

1) The Poster Sequence by the corporator 2) Tharun’s gang and the Lawyer’s group making a deal 3)Vishnu Oi’s narration of flashback stories 4) When Tharun uses expletives, the scene changes to Vishnu listening to music on his Bluetooth headphones.

The film works best when it’s able to make subtle gags. The comedy (both real and dark humor) is its strongest suit.

The film provides laughs, but its narrative becomes tedious at times. In the penultimate moments, it begins to lose the tempo. Not to mention the fact that many situations and lines of dialogue are beyond the comprehension of the average viewer.

All the actors have done a terrific job, but special mention should be made of the work done by Tharun, Jeevan, Brahmanandam, and Vishnu. As a lawyer, Rag Mayur gets the job done. The antics of Chaitanya Rao’s character are amusing at first, but they soon start to grate. The way Raghu Ram is portrayed is in sync with the tone of the film.

The technical effort, especially the background soundtrack and editing by Vivek Sagar, is excellent. 

Bototm-line: “Keedaa Cola” is a crime comedy with a whacky style of narration. It has zany characters, funny dialogue, and eccentric situations. This is a film that may not suit everyone’s tastes, but the attempt is unique in Telugu cinema.

Crew Twitter review: Kriti Sanon, Kareena Kapoor and Tabu are sharing screen space for the first time in a quirky saga about greed, ambition and crime. The actors play air-hostesses in Crew , which is being lauded by netizens. While the movie is getting mostly rave reviews, both fans and movie critics have appreciated the acting prowess of the trio. Kriti, Kareena and Tabu have impressed movie buffs with their acting prowess, glamour and humour. Crew is a comic take on a heist attempt carried by three air hostesses. A fan predicted the movie commercial success as he praised Kareena, Kriti and Tabu. One of the users called the movie a ‘one-time watch’ on X and wrote, “The trailer promised a comedic adventure, but humour of the film fell flat and one liners were not quite hitting the mark. Yet, the story, emotional arcs, and of course, the charm of three beautiful ladies drive you through the end. decent one time watch! #CrewReview (three stars emojis)”

'Crew is a missed opportunity'

Movie critic and trade analyst Nishit Shaw tweeted, “Rating: (two and half stars emojis) #Crew is a MISSED OPPORTUNITY. The makers had everything at their disposal but what hampers the output is a not-so-convincing second half that is shot in a rushed way. #KareenaKapoorKhan, #KritiSanon, #Tabu & others are phenomenal but the writing is (two thumbs down emojis) #CrewReview #Crew’s merit is the first half which is ordinary but has a lot to offer. It is relatable, funny, emotional & also entertaining. The second half is a mess where everything seems to happen very fast. And because of the rushed pace, the events are not convincing. The BGM is nice, songs are fun & the ladies are fantastic. However the film could be a decent one time watch. The ending is a happy one but is abrupt. In simple words, quite an ordinary and a decent watch.”

A cinephile, disappointed with Crew, wrote, “A good first part is followed by an uninteresting and nonsensical second half in the film #Crew. Despite their good performances, the principal actresses overact in important sequences. It is best to ignore this movie as it is purely ordinary. Ratings: 2/5 #crewreview.”

Godzilla x Kong The New Empire movie review: This franchise needs to let sleeping creatures lie

Godzilla x kong the new empire movie review: three talented actors, rebecca hall, dan stevens and brian tyree henry, are doing the honours in this. and yet all the acting in this film is done by that mini-ape, who is cunning and sad, loving and brave, all at the same time..

In a film that is full of big and bigger ‘Titans’, pummelling rocks and breathing fire, the best thing is the smallest creature from the animal world around — an ape the size of Kong’s forearm. That is the kindest way of saying that big is not always better, more not always merry, and loud is just loud.

In this round of the King Kong and Godzilla’s unending adventures — the two franchises put together now make up more than 50 films, and counting — wars are fought on surface earth, hollow earth and subterranean earth. Kong gets an infected tooth, Godzilla gets an awakening call, both gradually head towards each other, find on the way an entire ape settlement, earn themselves a villainous ape enemy called Skar King, face off against the Skar King’s slave titan that is an ice-spewing Godzilla (Ice Age was this creature’s partial doing, we are told), co-inhabit a world with dinosaur-like birds, and also discover an angelic saviour in a supersize insect called Mothra.

Humans? Well they are there too, including some repeats from Godzilla vs Kong of 2021. Plus a tribe that comes around suitably inked and smeared and dressed in flowing robes. The latter are silent communicators (thus dispensing with the need to give them a language); the former usually can come up with little more than “Oh my God!” when confronted with a new “quartz energy source”, or a “gravity manipulation device involving liquids and pyramids”, or a “biochemical partition”, or “a destroyed outpost”, or a “human-eating tree”.

Three talented actors, Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens and Brian Tyree Henry, are doing the honours in this. Hall is the scientist and the mother, Stevens the rogue with a golden heart, and Henry the funny sidekick.

And yet all the acting in this film is done by that mini-ape, who is cunning and sad, loving and brave, all at the same time as he builds a relationship with Kong. Perhaps the only time you feel God in Godzilla x Kong.

Rest is Hollywood, special effects that feel special once in a while, and a franchise that needs to let sleeping creatures lie.

‘Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World’ Review: A Wild Romanian Trip

In Radu Jude’s shambling, acidly funny movie set in Bucharest, a foul-mouthed gofer named Angela tours the troubled heart and soul of her country.

Late in Radu Jude’s “Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World,” the movie shifts tones. Our heroine, a funny, foul-mouthed gofer who’s racking up miles driving in Bucharest, has just told her passenger about a road outside the city that has more memorials edging it than it has kilometers. The movie then cuts to one after another roadside memorial — some stone, others metal, some with photos, others with flowers — for an astonishing four silent minutes, and this near-unclassifiable, often comically ribald movie turns into a plaintive requiem.

The woman, Angela — the sneakily charismatic Ilinca Manolache — is a production assistant toiling for a foreign company that’s making a workplace safety video in Romania. Among her tasks is interviewing men and women who have been injured on the job, the idea being that one will make a camera-friendly cautionary tale for workers. As she changes gears, and the movie switches between black-and-white film and color video, Angela flips off other drivers, acidly critiques all that she encounters, creates TikTok videos and effectively maps the geopolitical landscape of contemporary Romania. At one point, she meets the German director Uwe Boll , who’s known to have trounced a few of his critics in boxing matches.

I don’t think that Jude wants to beat up critics (even if the interlude with Boll, who’s shooting a “bug-killer film,” is almost endearing); among other things, his movies tend to be well-received. Jude’s shaggy provocation “Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn,” for instance, earned high praise as well as top honors at the Berlin Film Festival in 2021. At the same time, there’s a pushy, borderline abrasive aspect to how Jude strings out Angela’s time behind the wheel in “Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World,” forcing you to share in her tedium. The movie is overflowing with ideas — about history, capitalism, cinema, representation — but it also tests your patience before amply rewarding it.

It’s still dark when Angela stumbles out of bed one early morning, naked and cursing. (One of her favorite expletives is featured both in the first and final words in the movie, a fitting bookending blurt that seems like a cri de coeur and one of the movie’s more unambiguously authorial statements.) Before long, she’s dressed and out in the streets, making the first in a series of TikToks in which she takes on the guise of her bald social-media avatar, a bro named Bobita, an extravagantly offensive vulgarian who brags about hanging out with his pal Andrew Tate, the online influencer and self-anointed “king of toxic masculinity.”

Tate’s trajectory is lurid and gross, but the references to him are more symbolically than specifically germane to the movie. (Tate moved to Romania in 2017; he was arrested there in May 2023 on an assortment of charges, including human trafficking.) For Angela — for Jude — Tate basically functions as yet another emblem of Bobita’s grotesqueness and of a larger worldview, one that has reduced everything to its market value. Everything is part of his unending hustle, including the Maserati he brags about owning, the women he boasts about sexually conquering and, of course, himself. “Remember,” Bobita says, “like and share!” With her avatar, Angela entertains her audience with a very sharp sting.

The same can be said of “Do Not Expect Too Much,” which gradually gathers shape and force as Angela motors around Bucharest. As she does, Jude cuts between her and the title heroine of “ Angela Goes On ,” a 1981 Romanian film directed by Lucian Bratu about a taxi driver. Produced in the waning years of the Ceausescu dictatorship , the earlier film serves as a fascinating counterpoint to Jude’s movie visually and thematically. (The opening credits announce that this movie is a “conversation” with the 1981 film.) From one angle, not much has changed, but if the roads are still jammed and people hungry, it’s now capitalism rather than communism that keeps this world busily spinning.

At one point, as her endless work drags on, Angela drives to the airport to pick up an executive from the company producing the safety video. The executive, Doris, towers above Angela, and in a perfect bit of casting is played by the great German actress Nina Hoss. Casually if chicly dressed, Doris has come to Bucharest in advance of the video shoot, the team now having found a palatable star (its “raw material”). It’s a charge that she handles with impeccable manners and the kind of nonchalant, world-dominating hauteur that I imagine old-regime royals expressed with a lazy wave of the hand as they ordered someone to death.

Doris only makes chitchat with Angela, although in a killer touch — and in another of Jude’s sly comments about high and low culture, East Europe and West — the executive turns out to be related to Goethe. Eventually, Angela ends up in an alley, where many of the story’s pieces converge, including its wounded worker, the star of the Ceausescu-era film and, of course, Bobita. By that point, Jude has taken you all over, bridged the past with the present and shown the country’s many double faces, comic and tragic. He’s also come close to exhausting you with his movie, which is as relentless, pessimistic, heartbreaking and enlivening as the amazing Angela, who — like Jude, I suspect — keeps going because she must.

Mythri Movie Makers is one of the top production houses in Telugu cinema. The production house is known to produce big budget films like Pushpa, Rangasthalam, Pushpa 2, and Waltair Veerayya.

The production house ventured into the distribution field and also released big films like Salaar and made big money during the release of the Prabhas starrer.

It is a known fact that they have ventured into theatre business. The news is that their seven screen multiplex, Mythri Cinemas, will be launched tomorrow in Guntur.

The theatres are located in a plush area of Guntur and above a swanky new shopping mall. Mythri Cinemas will release with Tillu Square and a special event has been planned for the same.
