A mother is an icon of sacrifice and love. She is our first well-wisher, our first teacher, and also our first friend. She has to awake many nights just for taking care of her child. A mother is always standing by her child in every situation whether it is a good moment or a bad one.

Short Speech on Mothers for Mother’s Day | 1 Minute

If an angel asks me to make a wish, I would make a wish for good health and prosperity for another Angel on earth and that is my mother. If I am not wrong you would also do the same.

Greetings to everyone gathered here. I (your name) cordially welcome all of you & want to pay you thanks for having me a chance to speak in front of you.

Did you know? The word “ Mother ” is derived from the Sanskrit word “ maatri ” which means a woman who gives birth & a mother is the most influential character in everyone’s life. She is our first well-wisher, our first teacher, and also our first friend. She has to awake many nights just for taking care of her child.

Today I want to say a few words to my mother-“Dear mom, you made me the luckiest person in the world by being my mother. I can not repay you what you did for me. I just want to express my love to you. You’re the woman that has sacrificed all her life just to build mine”.

Thank you, Mom. Love you, Mom.

Emotional Speech on Mothers | 2 MInutes

Hello and welcome to all the people present here. Before I start my speech on mothers, I would like to wish you a Happy mothers Day. Also, I want to thank you for having me this valuable opportunity.

As you know I am here to speak a few words about mothers but the fact is; “No matter how much effort is made, it is impossible to define the word “Mother” in available words in the world”. A mother sacrifices her days and nights for her children’s happiness and to satisfy their needs.

I assure you, you will be running out of energy if you put yourself into the shoes of your mother. Then you will realize the actual workload that she has to deal with. After, you will question yourself,” how does my mother manage all that?”. And you will result in respecting her more intensely than ever.

Her love is unalloyed (unmixed). Those who have not experienced a mother’s affection are unfortunate. She loves their child with no expectations in return. Sorry to fathers but fathers can’t establish a connection with their child-like mothers does.

At last, I want to say a few words dedicated to my mother; “Dear mom, whatever I am today is because I have you. You taught me to be myself even during hard times. I wish you nothing more than fulfillment and happiness”

Thank you for always being my defence, fortress, and shield. Your love has been the pillow I rest on during the hard times, I can’t afford to repay you. Love you, Mom.

Heart touching Speech on Mothers | 4 Minutes

I cordially welcome all of you gathered here. I am here to deliver a speech on mothers. Before I start my speech, I would like to wish you a Happy mothers Day. Also, I want to thank you for having me this valuable opportunity.

In philosophy, it is said that when God found it tough to protect the whole world, he made mothers. A mother is a beautiful gem in everyone’s life and can not be replaced by anyone else. She is the one who takes care of us in our childhood, encourages us in our teenage, and supports us in our hard times.

When we were kids and could not be able to help ourselves, she took care of us and devoted her days and nights to the sake of our comfort. But, Today we are mature enough to take responsibility. Now we must serve our Mother with love.

Irrespective of what the condition is, you will always find your mother standing by you. She is our first well-wisher, our first teacher, and also our first friend. She will take care of you at every age. The connection she shares with her child, can’t be established with anyone else in the world.

There is no doubt that a mother’s love is very outstanding and hard to find anywhere else. This is unique because a mother perceives her child as her part. This attachment is very sensitive as a mother can sense your situations and feelings from a long distance.

One thing is crystal clear we cannot repay her favours but we should try to get her free from all her responsibilities at least once a week. What does she expect from us other than respect? So we need to respect her cordially. We must always try to keep her happy and relaxed.

Mothers are a great invention of God. All the mothers on the planet, be humans, animals, or any other species, are greatly appreciable. They are a combination of love, strength, and limitless courage. I am very thankful to God for blessing me with my mother.

At last, I want to dedicate some of my words to my mother; “my angel, my strength and my supermom. For replacing my shame with boldness, my sadness with happiness and my fear with courage, thank you.

Even after all these years, you are the most gorgeous and kindest woman I know. No wonder you don’t age. I’m so glad to be called your son. Looking at you reminds me that not all angels have wings and not all Superheroes wear special costumes. You have been my guardian angel from the first day and I love you, forevermore”.

Love you, Love you, Love you, My mother.

Mother’s Day Speech In English For Students

The international celebration of Mother's Day in 2021 will take place on May 9, which is the second Sunday of the month. Mother's Day is celebrated around the world differently. American celebrate Mother's Day on March 8, whereas Indians celebrate it on the second Sunday of May. The character of a mother has been compared to that of God by some philosophers and preachers throughout history.

Mother’s Day Speech: Short Speech

The celebration of Mother's Day is one of the most popular occasions, especially for children. They celebrate their mother's love on this day. A mother is the emblem of love and she displays all the affection she has for her children selflessly. She sacrifices all her needs without the intention of getting anything in return and wants just to get the needs of her children met. Without the presence of a mother, it would not have been possible to have our own life. You can find both Long and Short Mothers Day Speech in English below.

According to Leonardo DiCaprio, "My mother is a walking miracle." This statement is very accurate. The birth of a mother occurs long before the birth of a child. Her time is not only spent growing her child, but also educating him and helping him become a productive citizen of this nation. Mothers spend their lives fulfilling the dreams of others by giving up their own dreams. It is through her music that a child and a family can be filled with colors and melody.

The Bible says that God cannot be everywhere, and so he created mothers on Earth. In addition to being a symbol of love, mothers are also fierce warriors. In order for her child to be happy, she must overcome all obstacles. Anyone who has ever been born has been taught by her, had a friend, guide, philosopher, and even had a psychologist.

The word mother is indeed small but the feelings and importance are very big. We can never repay a mother for the sacrifices she makes, and it is impossible to do so in a lifetime. Interestingly, mothers are constant sources of energy and positivity for every child, and we should feel fortunate to be able to count on them as a source of support, forever.

Mother’s Day Speech: Long Speech

Mother's Day is the time of the year when we celebrate motherhood! We find the most pleasantly surprising way to convey love to the angel of our life. The love of a mother and her existence is so pure that one should admire her every day. Mother's Day does, however, act as a reminder. A mother is the family's pillar and backbone. She proves what true love is all about by sacrificing everything and keeping everyone happy all the time. Without taking a break, she constantly works 24*7 and with a big smile on her face.

For me, my mother is the person who taught me to stand on my feet, she is a person who taught me how to learn from mistakes. She helps me without leaving any hope and without hoping for anything in return. I can leave every luxury to my mother because with my mother I feel more relaxed and peaceful. She used to wake me up during my exams when I was young to help me prepare for my tests well. My mother made endless sacrifices for my success and happiness. She is the Goddess who sacrificed her life, happiness and everything for my life.

Every mother has sacrificed for her child and is undoubtedly still sacrificing and hence, we celebrate mothers day to express our gratitude for her. Let us pray to the Almighty to always keep all mothers happy. I have a great obligation to you to listen to my speech. It was wonderful to speak in front of an audience like this.

I am delighted to present a talk on Mother's Day to all of you here today. It is indeed true that everyone's mother is the first god, philosopher, guide, and friend. The one to hold our hands and teach us to walk. She also teaches us how to communicate. In this constantly changing world, she's the only constant. Her greatness and her accomplishments cannot be adequately described in words.

The purpose of celebrating Mother's Day in many countries is to celebrate motherhood and to honor mothers for their love and affection. It also recognizes the selfless contributions made by mothers to society and the family. During the early 20 th century, Anna Jarvis was instrumental in establishing modern Mother's Day in the United States. Anna Jarvis memorialized her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, in 1908. In 1905, Anna Jarvis began a campaign to commemorate Mother's Day after her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. She was an activist for peace during the American Civil War. Jarvis, the then President of the United States, convinced Woodrow Wilson to make Mother's Day a national holiday in 1914.

Celebrations like this have lost the innate meaning of the holiday and are increasingly commercialized. In fact, it has lost all spiritual significance in favor of economic gain. All countries have a different date for Mother's Day in accordance with their local cultures and beliefs. In Catholic countries, Mother's Day is celebrated as Virgin Mary's Day. Bolivia celebrates Mother's Day every year on May 27 to commemorate the Battle of La Coronilla, which occurred on May 27, 1812.

She acts as the binding material that keeps the family intact and together when you are looking at her. She is a symbol of love. Keeping everyone happy, she is filled with love from her heart. Parents are known for their selflessness. Additionally, she makes many sacrifices in order to make others happy.

She represents love and care. In fact, even the gods bow their heads before her. It's not always possible for a child to express their feelings but a mother can tell just by looking into their eyes what's inside their hearts. Mothers' love is a powerful thing. It doesn't matter how much pain she is going through, or how many critics she gets, she will always be a shield for her family. The child will always have her back when times are hard.

Each day of our life is a mother's day. Nonetheless, every year on the second Saturday of May, we celebrate Mother's Day in honor of their motherhood, their sacrifices, their love and care. In this universe, there is no one who devotes their whole lives to their children and expects anything in return. All she wants is to give without expecting anything in return. Seeing her child's smile makes her happy.

There is nothing in this world that can compare to the love and care that a mother gives. Mother's love is something that cannot ever be exchanged for anything else.

In today's society, many children take for granted the love and care of their mothers. In return for all she has sacrificed in her life, they do not show her due respect and gratitude. Such behavior is completely unacceptable. She has always supported others when they needed it most. Therefore, it is both the parents' and the children's duty to stand by their loved ones when they need them most.

As the child grows and succeeds, he can thank his mother who has stayed up night and day to make his dreams come true. In a mother's life, the work of raising her child begins the moment the baby is born. She teaches you everything, from walking to eating to speaking and writing. I believe that we should all take this opportunity to give thanks and honor all the beautiful mothers across the world today. Our mothers helped shape us into what we are today by constantly supporting and guiding us. This day should be remembered in honor of our mother, the love of our lives.

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to my mother for everything she has ever done for me. In addition, I would like to thank all of you for being here today. Thank you for the opportunity to speak with you today. Students who are talking about Mother's Day should find these speeches useful. Women gatherings or organizations that are addressing women will also benefit from them. Any organization that works to improve women's lives will benefit from them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, we gather to honor the most beautiful and enduring of all relationships: the bond between a mother and her child. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound impact mothers have on our lives, shaping our characters, nurturing our dreams, and standing by us through every challenge with unwavering love and sacrifice.

The Essence of Motherhood

Motherhood is not merely a role but an embodiment of love, strength, and selflessness. It is a journey filled with moments of joy, trials, and unconditional love. From the first heartbeat to the first step, from kindergarten tears to graduation cheers, a mother’s love remains the steadfast beacon guiding us through the storms of life.

A Tribute to Every Mother

To every mother here today and those in our hearts, we owe our deepest gratitude and respect. You are the architects of our society, tirelessly building the foundation of compassion, resilience, and integrity upon which we stand. Your sacrifices often go unnoticed, your efforts sometimes taken for granted, but today, we stand in awe of the incredible resilience and boundless love that define motherhood.

The Legacy of a Mother’s Love

A mother’s love is the first and most enduring love we know. It is a love that transcends time and space, a love that comforts, heals, and inspires. It is a love that teaches us the meaning of sacrifice, the beauty of giving, and the strength to face life’s challenges with grace and courage.

A Call to Cherish and Support

Let us not limit our appreciation to this day alone. Let us support, cherish, and honor our mothers every day. Let us recognize their dreams and aspirations, supporting them as they have supported us. Let us be the source of their strength, as they have been ours.

In Conclusion , As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us renew our commitment to showing our mothers the love, respect, and appreciation they deserve. Let us remember that the greatest tribute we can offer is to live our lives in a manner that reflects the values they have instilled in us.

To all the mothers, thank you for your love, your sacrifices, and your unwavering belief in us. Your legacy is not just in the children you raise but in the kinder, more compassionate world you help create through your love and guidance.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers out there. Your love makes the world a better place.

Mother's Day tribute: What to say

Need some help with a Mother's Day tribute? Whether you want to give a speech for Mom, a toast, or send a clever card, let her know how much her advice and momisms mean to you. After all, we all realize Mother Knows Best. On this special day, which has been around since the early 20th Century, you'll want to let her know that those kernels of wisdom she liberally dispensed have helped make you into the person you are today.

So collect those pearls of wisdom you heard as a child for your Mother's Day tribute. On this page, I've gathered some momisms here that my sister and I heard regularly when we were kids.

A brief Mother's Day tribute

Adapt these words which are suitable for a toast or for a special card you send to mom on Mother's Day.

From my very first days, you left imprints on my heart. You celebrated my triumphs and comforted me in my losses. And you never lost faith in me. Thank you, Mother, for the many things large and small that you have done  that helped make me who I am today.  I love you. Happy Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is another chance to let you know How  special you are to us. You're one of a kind, loving and caring. And now it's our turn to say We love you. So Cheers for the many Mom things You do every day. Happy Mother's Day.

A Mother's Day tribute to Midge and her momisms

Midge in the early 1940w

My sister and I called our mother Midge. She was a strong, no-nonsense woman who came of age during the Great Depression and knew about being frugal, keeping your opinions to yourself and treating self-pity like a waste of time. She also had a passion for literature and the well-turned phrase. Like many of that era, she doled out advice based on common-sense admonitions, her observations about the motives of other people and wisdom from the Bible. A highly respected high school English teacher, Midge sprinkled her momisms with bits of poetry, literary genius and guidance from the likes of Ben Franklin.

If you are doing something special for your mother -- perhaps a tribute or a toast -- think about the momisms you heard growing up. And if you have momisms to add to this list, let  Special Speeches.  know.

Mother's Day Poems

Here's a collection of wonderful poems for wishing your mom the best of days.

I learned from my mother how to love the living, to have plenty of vases on hand in case you have to rush to the hospital with peonies cut from the lawn, black ants still stuck to the buds. I learned to save jars large enough to hold fruit salad for a whole grieving household, to cube home-canned pears and peaches, to slice through maroon grape skins and flick out the sexual seeds with a knife point. I learned to attend viewings even if I didn't know the deceased, to press the moist hands of the living, to look in their eyes and offer sympathy, as though I understood loss even then. I learned that whatever we say means nothing, what anyone will remember is that we came. I learned to believe I had the power to ease awful pains materially like an angel. Like a doctor, I learned to create from another's suffering my own usefulness, and once you know how to do this, you can never refuse. To every house you enter, you must offer healing: a chocolate cake you baked yourself, the blessing of your voice, your chaste touch.

Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky, Hundreds of shells on the shore together, Hundreds of birds that go singing by, Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather. Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, Hundreds of bees in the purple clover, Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, But only one mother the wide world over.

I had a mother who read to me Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea, Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth, "Blackbirds" stowed in the hold beneath. I had a Mother who read me lays Of ancient and gallant and golden days; Stories of Marmion and Ivanhoe Which every boy has a right to know. I had a Mother who read me tales Of Gelert the hound of the hills of Wales, True to his trust till his tragic death, Faithfulness blent with his final breath. I had a Mother who read me the things That wholesome life to the boy's heart brings– Stories that stir with an upward touch, Oh, that each mother of boys were such! You may have tangible wealth untold; Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold. Richer than I you can never be – I had a mother who read to me.

Mother's Day By David Young

—for my children

I see her doing something simple, paying bills, or leafing through a magazine or book, and wish that I could say, and she could hear, that now I start to understand her love for all of us, the fullness of it. It burns there in the past, beyond my reach, a modest lamp.

can go to Bible study every Sunday and swear she's still not convinced, but she likes to be around people who are. We have the same conversation every few years—I'll ask her if she stops to admire the perfect leaves of the Japanese maple she waters in her backyard, or tell her how I can gaze for hours at a desert sky and know this as divine. Nature, she says, doesn't hold her interest. Not nearly as much as the greens, pinks, and grays of a Diebenkorn abstract, or the antique Tiffany lamp she finds in San Francisco. She spends hours with her vegetables, tasting the tomatoes she's picked that morning or checking to see which radishes are big enough to pull. Lately everything she touches bears fruit, from new-green string beans to winning golf strokes, glamorous hats she designs and sews, soaring stocks with their multiplying shares. These are the things she can count in her hands, the tangibles to feed and pass on to daughters and grandchildren who can't keep up with all the risky numbers she depends on, the blood-sugar counts and daily insulin injections, the monthly tests of precancerous cells in her liver and lungs. She's a mathematical wonder with so many calculations kept alive in her head, adding and subtracting when everyone else is asleep.

Mother's Day Speech in English for Students

1 minute short speech on mother's day.

Good Morning to one and all present here.

Today on this warm morning, I, student name, from Class ( ) am going to deliver a short speech on Mother’s Day.

We all have gathered here today to celebrate the most important person in our lives, our mothers. They are not just our role models or saviours or a permanent shoulder to cry on, but they are also our loudest fans, our moral support, our inner strength, and of course our first teachers. They are the ones who shape our personalities, define our roles, nurture our lives, and develop us into human beings we become years later on. Well, I think someone has said right, Mothers truly are the angels sent by god to put us on the right track and teach us everything for our survival. So, why not dedicate one day of our lives to honour the real god of our destinies, societies, and lives? In our most important journey called life, we depend upon our mothers right from the start. Be it getting fed inside their tombs, or nurtured after our arrival on this planet, to teaching us language, actions, manners, and in all shaping us into human beings that we are today. But, in the process of learning and growing, we forget to value their immense contributions to our lives. We forget to shower them with love, pay them respect, share how we feel about them, and most importantly take care of them. So, let us all make wise use of this special day dedicated to Mothers and give our best to make it as special for them as possible.

Today, let us all come together and make sure to shower enough love and gratitude on our mothers, let us make sure to let go of all the grudges, if you have, let us take pride in the concept of motherhood, and let us all celebrate this wonderful day dedicated to the most wonderful human being of our lives.

2 Minute Speech on Mother's Day

Today on this warm morning, I, student's name, from Class ( ) am going to deliver a short speech on Mother’s Day.

Now, since we are celebrating mothers and motherhood it is important to talk about things they do for us, things that no one else can offer or even think about doing for us. These actions or things are not limited to providing love, care, and encouragement, instead, it is about the sacrifices, the feeling of putting their child before themselves, hard work to ensure you end up growing into a beautiful human being, constant support and guidance, and so much more.

5 Minute Long Speech on Mother’s Day

There’s no specific day dedicated to celebrating the International Mother’s Day. However, it is generally celebrated in either March or on the second Sunday of May. In 2024, Mother’s Day is about to be celebrated on May 12 in almost more than 40 countries, including India. The process was started to complement other family members' related days such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and more. Different countries have different dates and methods of celebrating this day and honoring the mothers of their lives. While some countries organise services to pay respect to their mothers, others celebrate it by visiting their homes and spending time with them.

Now, since we are celebrating mothers and motherhood it is important to talk about things they do for us, things that no one else can offer or even think about doing for us. These actions or things are not limited to providing love, care, and encouragement, instead, it is about the sacrifices, the feeling of putting their child before themselves, hardwork to ensure you end up growing into a beautiful human being, constant support and guidance, and so much more. How can we forget to celebrate such a human being who has taken the pledge of dedicating their entire life to us, right from the time our existences are felt? So, this Mother’s Day, let's celebrate our mothers, let's celebrate the wholesomeness of motherhood since there’s no one and there can be no one like yours and mine mother.

Mother's Day Long Speech

Respected Sir/Madam, esteemed guests, and my fellow students,

Mother's Day is a beautiful celebration of motherhood, a time when we express our love and gratitude to the special women in our lives. A mother's love is pure and selfless, and she serves as the backbone of the family, sacrificing everything to keep everyone happy.

For me, my mother is my greatest teacher and supporter. She has always been there for me, guiding me through life's challenges and teaching me valuable lessons along the way. Her sacrifices for my happiness and success are endless, and I am forever grateful for her love and care.

Mother's Day is celebrated differently around the world, but its essence remains the same – to honour and appreciate mothers for their unconditional love and selfless contributions to their families and society. However, in recent times, the true meaning of Mother's Day has been overshadowed by commercialization.

Mothers are the heart and soul of the family, binding everyone together with their love and care. They possess an unmatched strength and resilience, always putting their children's needs before their own. A mother's love is a powerful force that can weather any storm and overcome any obstacle.

Every day should be Mother's Day, as we should always cherish and appreciate the love and sacrifices of our mothers. Let us take this opportunity to honour and celebrate all the beautiful mothers around the world, thanking them for their unwavering love and support.

In closing, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my mother for everything she has done for me. I also want to thank each and every one of you for being here today to celebrate the incredible women who have shaped our lives. Happy Mother's Day to all!

small speech on happy mothers day

How do you distill the intense, loving connection you have with your mom into a few sentences? While that's a tall order, a Mother's Day poem is a succinct way to let your mom know how you feel about her (paired with one of the best Mother's Day gifts, of course). While many Mother's Day poems are usually sentimental, they don't have to be just that. Mother's Day poems can be sweet, silly, or even funny (like a Mother's Day meme ).

A poem for mom can be short and sweet; mom poems can be a jumping-off point for you to personalize, or just a way to voice all the complex emotions that aren't so easy to put into your own words. Here, see the best Mother's Day poems from daughter, poems for moms from sons, and even funny Mother's Day poems and Mother's Day quotes to honor the person you're proud to call Mom. Next step: Plan some great Mother's Day activities.

Mother's Day Poems From Daughters

She's been there for you from day one—and may have been driving you driving you bananas since day one, too. There's nothing more intense, unique, and loving than the connection between a mom and a daughter. Whether your relationship is a text-all-day one or you love each other from a distance, one of these Mother's Day poems from daughters is a great way to get at the heart of your bond.

Since the day I was small

Till the day I became tall

Since I began understanding things

Till the day I got my own wings

Your love has never fallen short

You have been my only support

I want to hold you tight and hug you

I just want to say thank you.

— Unveil Talks by Sumiran Mishra and Saakshi Khattri

I Will Have to Wait Until I'm a Mother

Real Simple

I struggle so deeply,

to understand,

how someone can,

pour their entire soul,

blood and energy,

into someone,

without wanting,

anything in,

A Mother...

When you're a child she walks before you

To set an example.

When you're a teenager she walks behind you

To be there should you need her.

When you're an adult she walks beside you

So that as two friends you can enjoy life together.

A Special Day

For a special mom on this special day,

Your daughter has some words that she wants to say

Please know that I appreciate all the things that you do

Love you so much, Mom, happy Mother's Day to you!

My Mother Kept A Garden

My Mother kept a garden,

A garden of the heart.

She planted all the good things

That gave my life its start.

She turned me to the sunshine

And encouraged me to dream.

Fostering and nurturing

The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rain came,

She protected me enough.

But not too much because she knew

I'd need to stand up strong and tough.

Her constant good example

Always taught me right from wrong.

Markers for my pathway

That will last a lifetime long.

I am my Mother's garden.

I am her legacy.

And I hope today she feels the love

Reflected back from me.

The bond between a mother and a son is a special one

It remains unchanged by time or distance.

It is the purest love, unconditional and true.

It is understanding of any situation and forgiving of any mistake.

Thank You, Mom

I just want to thank you

For your warm smiles

Your encouragement

Your words of wisdom

That still guide me today

Thanks for everything

Happy Mother's Day

Being a Mother

Being a mother means that your heart

Is no longer yours; it wanders

Wherever your children do.

—George Bernard Shaw

A Thank You Note

You have told me

All the things

I need to hear

Before I knew

I needed to hear them

To be unafraid

Of all the things

I used to fear,

I shouldn’t fear them.

A Mother's Love

Of all the special joys in life…

A mother's love and tenderness

Is the greatest of them all.

Wonderful Mother

The heart of a home is a mother

Whose love is warm and true,

And home has always been "sweet home"

With a wonderful mother like you!

Nobel Prize for Mothers

Mom you are a shining star

Though the world doesn't know your name.

You have no fancy title

Like Baroness or Dame.

Mom you really are a star,

My mother, mentor and friend.

A Nobel Prize for motherhood,

Is what I'd recommend!

And if I won the lottery

I'd share my win with you

I'd take you Mom on a spending spree

Each day the whole year through!

You may not be famous,

As your face is known to few.

But Mom I think you are wonderful

And I'm so proud of you!

Here's wishing you a Mother's Day

That's filled with every pleasure,

And a future that's as happy

As the memories you treasure!

Funny Poems for Mother's Day

Your mom is hilarious, and the Mother's Day poem you choose should reflect the sometimes irreverent takes she has on life. Here, funny poems for mothers and Mother's Day quotes she will appreciate (and laugh at).

Life doesn't come with a manual. It comes with a mother.

Please and Thanks

You taught me how to wash my face

And how to use the potty.

You made me eat up all my greens

And wiped my nose when snotty.

You taught me to say Please and Thanks,

Because politeness is the way.

So 'Please' can I borrow some money?

Just kidding. Happy Mother's Day!

The Thought That Counts

Roses are red, violets are blue,

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Sorry you didn't give birth to a poet who could rhyme!

Month of May

For all the diapers

that you changed,

For all the play dates

you arranged.

For all the trips

back and forth to school,

For cleaning all the spit up

and the drool.

Why is there only

one Mother's Day?

You should have at least gotten

the ENTIRE month of May!

Love is Forever

Sometimes you're silly and sometimes you're weird,

Occasionally I feel embarrassed and want you disappeared.

Sometimes you annoy me and I yell and shout,

And every now and then you make me pout.

Often I say things to you which I don't mean,

And I might even act like a crazy drama queen.

But no matter what happens or how I may act,

My love and appreciation for you is an eternal fact!

You Know Me

Mom you know the worst of me,

My weaknesses and follies,

I know you've seen me poop my pants

and cut the heads off dollies.

You know all my most embarrassing moments,

You know that I'm a nut,

So what can I do to repay your love...

...and make sure you keep your mouth shut!?

—Holly Giffers

Rock Me to Sleep

Mother, dear Mother, the years have been long

Since I last listened your lullaby song:

Sing, then, and unto my soul it shall seem

Womanhood's years have been only a dream.

Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace,

With your light lashes just sweeping my face,

Never hereafter to wake or to weep;

Rock me to sleep, mother, rock me to sleep!

How to Give Your Mom a Poem for Mother's Day

Whether you decide to pen your own personal ode to your mom, or you want to share some of these great words as a tribute to your mom for Mother's Day, there's more than one way to share your heartfelt sentiments.

Write the poem in a card

Whether you choose to share this sentiment in a blank greeting card or add it as a supplement to the greeting card's message, she'll appreciate the touching thoughts.

Print the poem and frame it

All you need is the poem, a great font, and a pretty picture frame to turn this into a keepsake gift she'll treasure. If you have lovely penmanship, go ahead and write it out to add a more personal touch.

Recite the poem to your mother

If your mom isn't one for a lot of clutter hanging out in her house, reciting the poem instead may be a better solution. You could even record a video of you performing it and send it to her to commemorate the moment.

Create a custom sign with the sentiment

If your mom's all in on the heartfelt sayings as wall art trend, printing the poem onto a customized canvas or sign will allow your mom to see your feelings about her every single day on her walls. (And you can likely include artwork or an image of your family with it as well!) Sites like Etsy and Minted are a good place to start when it comes to creating customized wall art.

  • Mama, you sacrificed so I could rise. I want you to know I see that.
  • With love from the luckiest [son/daughter/child/kid] in the world.

  • Happy Mother’s Day, Mama. Every day I’m thankful you’re mine.

Helpful tip: If your relationship with your mother is complicated, don’t feel obligated to make your message more complimentary or effusive than you feel. Instead, be warm and sincere in your card message. Focus on what’s positive and true between you. Tell her you’re thinking of her. Or simply wish her a beautiful day. We also have ideas for what to write when trying to reconnect after a falling out , if you need it.

Funny Mother's Day messages

If making Mom laugh is more your style—or if showing lots of emotion is uncomfortable for you—a funny Mother’s Day message might feel like a more genuine way to connect with her.

Mother's Day messages for a Wife or Partner

What does a mom want to hear from her spouse on Mother’s Day? It’s no big mystery. She wants to hear that her partner sees all she does and appreciates her for it. Mother's Day messages for complicated relationships

Lots of us have less-than-perfect relationships, either with our own moms or with other moms we want to recognize with a Mother’s Day card. In those cases, a card with a short, straightforward sentiment is often the best option. You can use your handwritten message to add a little warmth without going over the top or overstating how you feel.

  • I hope you get to spend today doing all the things that make you happiest.
  • Thinking of you on Mother’s Day and hoping you have a great day.
  • Especially on Mother’s Day, honoring you for what you mean to our family.
  • Mother’s Day felt like a perfect chance to remind you that you hold an important place in my life.
  • Mom, we may not agree about everything but, no matter what, we’re family, and we care about each other. That means a lot to me, and so do you.
  • I know we’ve had our ups and downs, but through it all we’ve shared a bond that still runs deep. I’m glad we’ve got that.
  • You’ve been the best mom you could be in spite of some pretty tough circumstances. I see that more clearly now—and I thank you, Mom.
  • On Mother’s Day, I’m thinking of my very favorite times with you.
  • Hoping you spend Mother’s Day feeling celebrated and appreciated.
  • Time keeps changing our relationship in surprising ways. My wish on Mother’s Day is that the next year would keep bringing us even closer together.
  • Mamá, hoy más que nunca, me doy cuenta que aprendí a ser una buena persona por ti. Gracias por todos tus sacrificios y enseñanzas.

Helpful Tip:  When nothing feels quite right, a simple wish for a good day is usually a safe choice, even in a strained relationship. And those few words from you can help open the door to a better, closer relationship in the future.

Heartfelt Poems for Mom on Mother's Day

Mother's Day comes once a year. Some think that if they buy their mother flowers and a card that they have fulfilled their obligation for the rest of the year. If we would only comprehended a small part of what our mothers did for us as children. How they would literally die for us if needed. We would realize that one day is not sufficient. Mother's Day should be a time to remind us that we have been neglecting our duties as sons and daughters. This relationship is sacred let us honor our mothers.

Short Mother's Day Poem for Mom Roses are red, Violets are blue, Sugar is sweet, And so are you!

The following poem is to give along with the handprint of a small child (e.g., on a card or canvas that Mom can mount on the wall).

My Handprint Here is my handprint, Five fingers in all, Outside they are short, But the middle is tall. You will find them on windows, You can find them on the wall, They will make a big mess, For something so small. One day I will grow, And leave them no more, My handprints will be missed, Of that I am sure. So here is one now, That you can't wipe away, My present to you, This Mother's Day. ~ Anon.

This short Mother's Day poem is also meant to be accompanied by a finger painting done by a small child.

Fingerprints! Dirt and cookie fingerprints are not too hard to find, You'll see them on our walls and drawers, Where I go, they're left behind! But soon I'll learn to wash my hands, And tuck them by my side, The walls and drawers clean once more, No grubby marks to hide. So here I leave my fingerprints, Each and every one, Painted as a reminder, Of dirt, and cookies, and fun! ~ Unknown.

What 'Mother' Means "Mother" is such a simple word, But to me there’s meaning seldom heard. For everything I am today, My mother’s love showed me the way. I’ll love my mother all my days, For enriching my life in so many ways. She set me straight and then set me free, And that’s what the word "mother" means to me. ~ Karl Fuchs

Only One Mother Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky, Hundreds of shells on the shore together, Hundreds of birds that go singing by, Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather. Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, Hundreds of bees in the purple clover, Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, But only one mother the wide world over. ~ George Cooper

Tribute to Mother A picture memory brings to me; I look across the years and see Myself beside my mother's knee. I feel her gentle hand restrain My selfish moods, and know again A child's blind sense of wrong and pain. But wiser now, a man gray grown, My childhood's needs are better known. My mother's chastening love I own. ~ John Greenleaf Whittier

A Song For Mama You taught me everything; Everything you've given me I'll always keep it inside; You're the driving force in my life. ~ Boyz II Men

Mothers Are the Gardeners Mothers are the gardeners Of wind-blown wild flowers. They water them with happy tears, Happy with them many years, Even as the hours Ring with sweet, sad melodies Sighing through their bowers. ~ Nicholas Gordon

Oh Mother So, mother, I thank you, for all you've done and still do; You got me, I got you, together we always pull through. ~ Christina Aguilera

Mother You taught me strength, and you gave me guidance. Whenever faith was lost you were there to find it. ~ Ashanti

A Mother's Prayer For You I said a Mother's Day prayer for you to thank the Lord above for blessing me with a lifetime of your tenderhearted love. I thanked God for the caring you've shown me through the years, for the closeness we've enjoyed in time of laughter and of tears. And so, I thank you from the heart for all you've done for me and I bless the Lord for giving me the best mother there could be! ~ Anon.

God's Masterpiece God took the fragrance of a flower, The majesty of a tree, The gentleness of morning dew, The calm of a quiet sea. The beauty of the twilight hour, The soul of a starry night, The laughter of a rippling brook, The grace of a bird in flight. Then God fashioned from these things, A creation like no other, And when his masterpiece was through, He called it simply - Mother. ~ Herbert Farnham

Motherhood The dearest gifts that heaven holds, The very finest, too, Were made into one pattern That was perfect, sweet, and true; The Angels smiled, well-pleased, and said: "Compared to all the others, This pattern is so wonderful Let's use it just for Mothers!" And through the years a mother has been All that's sweet and good For there's one bit of God and love, In all true Motherhood. ~ Helen Steiner Rice

God's Helpers God could not be in every place With loving hands to help erase The teardrops from each baby's face, And so He thought of mother. He could not send us here alone And leave us to a fate unknown; Without providing for His own, The outstretched arms of mother. God could not watch us night and day And kneel beside our crib to pray, Or kiss our little aches away; And so He sent us mother. And when our childhood days began, He simply could not take command. That's why He placed our tiny hand Securely into mother's. The days of youth slipped quickly by, Life's sun rose higher in the sky. Full grown were we, yet ever nigh To love us still, was mother. And when life's span of years shall end, I know that God will gladly send, To welcome home her child again, That ever-faithful mother. ~ George W Wiseman

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Proverbs 31:25-28

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Poems About Mother's Love

From infancy, throughout childhood, and into adulthood, a mother's love is steadfast and true. These poems about a mother's love try to express how powerful and special that love is.

Mother's Love A Mother's love, a Mother's care, A Mother's sigh, a Mother's prayer A Mother's work, and Mother's day, Leaves little time for any play. A Godly Mother with Godly love, Is treasure from God above, A Godly Mother with Godly care, Has God's help when she sighs a prayer. ~ Calvin M Lake

Her Love is Like an Island Mother's love is like an island, In life's ocean vast and wide A peaceful, quiet shelter From the wind, the rain, the tide. 'Tis bound on the north by Hope, By Patience on the west, By tender Counsel on the south And on the east by Rest. Above it like a beacon light Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer; And thro' the changing scenes of life I find a haven there. Mother's Love ~ Anon

To My Mother For all the times you gently picked me up, When I fell down, For all the times you tied my shoes And tucked me into bed, Or needed something But put me first instead. For everything we shared, The dreams, the laughter, And the tears, I love you with a "Special Love" That deepens every year. ~ Anon.

A Mother's Love There are times when only a Mother's love Can understand our tears, Can soothe our disappoints And calm all of our fears. There are times when only a Mother's love Can share the joy we feel, When something we've dreamed about Quite suddenly is real. There are times when only a Mother's faith Can help us on life's way, And inspire in us the confidence We need from day to day. For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith And a Mother's steadfast love, Were fashioned by the Angels And sent from God above. ~ Anon

Thank God for Mother's Love There is no love, like a mother's love, no stronger bond on earth... like the precious bond that comes from God, to a mother, when she gives birth. A mother's love is forever strong, never changing for all time... and when her children need her most, a mother's love will shine. God bless these special mothers, God bless them every one... for all the tears and heartache, and for the special work they've done. When her days on earth are over, a mother's love lives on... through many generations, with God's blessings on each one. Be thankful for our mothers, for they love with a higher love... from the power God has given, and the strength from up above. ~ Anon

Mother's Day Poems for Moms Who Have Passed Away

Mother's Day is a difficult time for those who are grieving the loss of their Mom. When you feel ready, it can become a time to celebrate your late mother's love and the time you had together. These poems offer a powerful tribute to honor your mother's memory.

Mother We had a wonderful mother, One who never really grew old; Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold; Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, And in her cheeks fair roses you see. We had a wonderful mother, And that's the way it will always be. But take heed, because She's still keeping an eye on all of us, So let's make sure She will like what she sees. ~ Unknown

If Roses Grow in Heaven If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away. ~ Dolores M. Garcia

You Were There You were there when we took our first steps, And went unsteadily across the floor. You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided, Until our steps took us out the door... You worry now "Are they ok?" Is there more you could have done? As we walk the paths of our unknown You wonder "Where have my children gone?" Where we are is where you have led us, With your special love you showed us a way, To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make. Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day. And where we go you can be sure, In spirit you shall never be alone. For where you are is what matters most to us, Because to us that will always be home... ~ Unknown

Mother’s Day Speech for Children | Short & Simple (400 words)

March 26, 2018 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

A very good morning to honorable Principal, respected teachers and all my dear friends.

Today is Mother’s day, it is a very special day to celebrate the most important person in our life. She is the most adorable and loving woman. She is the one who cares for us and loves us more than anyone else, she is the one who sacrifices everything for us, she is the very definition of love for us, she is “mother”.

She is the one who brought us into this world, carrying us in her womb, loving us and caring for us even before we were born. The first person that we bond with is our mother; she is our first teacher, our comforter, helper and our lifeline.

She has an irreplaceable role in our lives, without her we wouldn’t even be in this world.Even a day is so less to appreciate all that our mothers do for us. They should be loved and cherished and appreciated everyday for all the love and effort they put in for us.

Ever since we took our first breath our mother has been the one person who was our very source of comfort, a weeping child can be only quieted in the loving arms of his mother.

Just by seeing his mother’s face and feeling her presence can bring a smile to a toddler’s face, like nothing else can. There is a very special bond that a mother and child share and it is unlike any other in the world.

A mother’s love for her child is unconditional and unfathomable; she cares for her child more than herself and spends all her life caring for her children.

No matter how many children she has, she will love them all uniquely, her love is never divided, rather it multiplies.

Our mother is our first teacher in life, she teaches us everything we need to know, she holds our hand and teaches us to walk. She catches us when we fall.

She is the one who encourages the first words out of our mouth, she is the one who teaches how to hold a spoon, how  to tie our shoelaces and the list goes on…

Our mother teaches us some very valuable moral values, we learn to share, we learn to give and we learn to love others from her. She is the very inspiration behind all our good deeds.

And as much as she lavishes us with her unconditional love, she also disciplines us and guides us to walk in the good path.

Even when we are punished by our mother, it is only out of love as she wants us to be a better person by disciplining us. She is the one person we can confidently trust and put our faith in, there is no one else who wants our good more than our mother.

Our joy and happiness is hers! Our mother nourishes us in every way, she tirelessly works to feed us, to care for us and spends so many sleepless nights just to take care of us when we are sick.

She is simply God’s greatest blessing in our life and should be loved, cherished and respected.

“ A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path .” These lines by Agatha Christie truly capture the essence of the bond of love between a mother and her child.

And I think we all recognize the irreplaceable role that our mother plays in our lives, and we can never even hope to give anything worthy in return for her love for us.But we can bring a smile on her face by being a good and obedient child and remembering all the good lessons she taught us and by being a better person in life.

And on this special day let us all show our love and respect to our mother for all the love she has given to us and tell her how much we love her.

And I’m sure that seeing a beautiful smile on your mother’s face is the best thing you’ll ever see.

This Mother's Day, share a heartfelt message with these 30 quotes about mothers

small speech on happy mothers day

Celebrating mothers and motherhood has been a tradition for centuries, even before Mother's Day was officially created. It dates back to  the ancient Greeks and Romans who held festivals for Rhea and Cybele, the mother goddesses, the History Channel reports. Today, the holiday continues to honor mothers and mother figures.

While you might think that you show your mother love for everything she does throughout the year, the second Sunday in May serves as another chance to do so. And how you display your gratitude could vary depending on your love language .

If you're a fan of words of affirmation, here are some quotes to share – or write on a card – this Mother's Day.
