अग्निपंख मराठी सारांश।Agnipankh Book Summary  In Marathi बघत असतांना डॉ. कलाम यांच्याविषयी थोडक्यात माहिती घेणे अगत्याचे ठरते. डॉ. ए.पी.जे अब्दुल कलाम हे भारताचे एक शास्त्रज्ञ होते.ते भारताचे राष्ट्रपती या सर्वोच्च पदावर विराजमान होणारे पहिले भारतीय शास्त्रज्ञ आहेत. 

भारताच्या अवकाश संशोधन क्षेत्रात त्यांनी मोलाचे योगदान दिले. मुख्यत्वे क्षेपणास्त्रांच्या विकासात त्यांनी जी कामगिरी बजावली ती लक्षात घेता त्यांना “मिसाईल मॅन ऑफ इंडिया(missile man of india )” या नावाने ओळखले जाते. 

आपल्या आयुष्याची चाळीस वर्षे संशोधन क्षेत्रात वाहतांना त्यांनी त्यांचे कविमन आणि आतला लेखकही जपला. त्यांनी भारताच्या भवितव्यासाठी आणि इतर लोकांना प्रेरणा मिळावी म्हणून बऱ्यापैकी लिखाण केले.त्यांचे एकंदर  जीवनकार्य लक्षात घेऊन भारत सरकारने त्यांना तीनही सर्वोच्च नागरी पुरस्कारांनी सन्मानित केले आहे. 

डॉ. ए.पी. जे.अब्दुल कलाम यांची जीवनकथा खरेच फार प्रेरणादायी आहे.एका नावाड्याच्या कुटुंबातून निघून भारताच्या सर्वोच्च पदावर जाऊन पोहचण्याचा त्यांचा जो प्रवास आहे तो सर्वच धडपडणाऱ्या भारतीय तरुणांसाठी अखंड प्रेरणेचा स्रोत बनून राहिला आहे. अग्निपंख हे त्यांचे आत्मचरित्र त्यांच्या जीवनातील सुरुवातीच्या संघर्षमय पर्वाची कहाणी आहे. 

पुस्तकाची रचना

अग्निपंख हे पुस्तक मुख्यत्वे चार विभागांत विभाजित केले गेले आहे. त्या प्रत्येक विभागाला विशेष नावही देण्यात आले आहे. प्रत्येक विभाग हा डॉ. कलाम यांच्या जीवनातील विशिष्ट कालखंडाशी जोडलेला आहे.

पहिला भाग ‘orientation’ म्हणून संबोधल्या गेला आहे. या विभागात कलाम यांच्या जीवनातील त्यांच्या जन्मापासून ते भारताच्या वतीने USA च्या प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमासाठी जाण्यापर्यंतचा प्रवास वर्णन केला आहे. हा विभाग १९३१ ते १९६३ पर्यंतच्या त्यांच्या जीवनातील घडामोडी, त्यांचे शैक्षणिक जीवन आणि त्यांच्या अवकाश विज्ञानाकडे निर्माण झालेला कल  या सर्वांबद्दल सखोल भाष्य करतो. 

दुसऱ्या विभागाला ‘creation ‘ म्हटल्या गेले आहे. या विभागात डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांच्या जीवनातील १९६३ ते १९८० या कालखंडाचे सविस्तर वर्णन येते. एक शास्त्रज्ञ म्हणून त्यांनी काय काय काम केले.? कुठले प्रकल्प हाताळले? ते करत असताना त्यांच्या समोर कुठली संकटे उभी होती? या साऱ्यांची सविस्तर चर्चा या विभागात येते. 

तिसरा विभाग हा त्यांच्या जीवनातील १९८१ ते १९९० या काळाला निर्देशित करतो. या विभागात त्यांनी DRDO मध्ये जे कार्य केले,भारताच्या अवकाश संशोधनात आणि क्षेपणास्त्र विकासात जी महत्वाची भूमिका बजावली त्याविषयी माहिती येते. मुळात हा विभाग थोडा तांत्रिक माहितीने भरलेला वाटतो. आणि त्याचमुळे अवकाश संशोधन क्षेत्राशी कुठलही नातं नसणाऱ्यांना हा भाग कंटाळवाणासुद्धा वाटू शकतो. 

शेवटचा भाग आहे contemplation. या भागात डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांच्या १९९० नंतरच्या जीवनाबद्दल माहिती भेटते. आणि सर्वात शेवटी डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांचा उपदेश आपल्याला वाचायला मिळतो.

भारताच्या अवकाश संशोधनातील प्रगतीची कथा 

अग्निपंख पुस्तक वाचत असतांना आपल्याला सर्वात आधी लक्षात येणारी गोष्ट म्हणजे हे पुस्तक कोना एका व्यक्तीचे चरित्र जरी वाटत असले तरी ते तसे नाही. डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांच्या अवतीभोवती जरी हि संपूर्ण कहाणी फिरत असली तरी तिची सांगड भारताच्या कथेशी अलगद जुडून येते.ही कथा डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांच्या खुलत जाणाऱ्या जीवनप्रवासाबरोबरच भारताचा अवकाश संशोधनातील प्रवासही दर्शवून जाते. 

१९३१ च्या काळात या कथेला सुरुवात होते. हा काळ आहे डॉ.अब्दुल कलाम यांच्या जीवनातील बालपणीचा काळ. १९३१ ते १९४७ हा काळ जर भारताच्या दृष्टीने पाहतो म्हटलं तर भारताच्या अवकाश क्षेत्राचाही हा बालपणाचाच काळ म्हणावा लागेल. कारण या काळात डॉ. कलाम आणि भारतीय अवकाश संशोधन क्षेत्र या दोघांच्याही भवितव्याची दिशा ठरायची होती. 

डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम एका गरीब कुटुंबात जन्माला आले. तसा भारतही या वेळी गरिबीत पिचलेला, ब्रिटिशांच्या शोषणाने कमकुवत झालेला होता. वडील अगदी नावाडी असतांना आपले अवकाशभरारीचे स्वप्न जपण्यासाठी डॉ. कलाम यांनी जसा परिस्थितीसोबत संघर्ष केला तसाच संघर्ष भारतानेही स्वतःला या अवकाश संशोधन क्षेत्रात प्रगत करण्यासाठी संघर्ष केला.दारिद्र्य, बेरोजगारी, आणि आरोग्याच्या समस्या आ वासून पुढे उभ्या असतांना आपण सगळ्यांशी तोंड देत अवक्ष संशोधनात यश मिळवले. 

या पुस्तकाचा सुरुवातीचा भाग जरी डॉ. कलाम यांच्या जीवनावर असला तरी उर्वरित भाग मात्र भारताच्या अवकाश संशोधन क्षेत्रातील प्रगतीबद्दलच जास्त बोलतो.हे पुस्तक डॉ.कलाम यांचं जीवन आणि भारताची तंत्रज्ञानातील प्रगती या दोघांनाही समांतर घेऊन चालतं . 

हिंदू- मुस्लिम ऐक्य  

अग्निपंख या पुस्तकातून प्रत्येक ठिकाणी जाणवणारी गोष्ट म्हणजे हिंदू- मुस्लिम ऐक्य होय. या पुस्तकात हि ऐक्याची भावना प्रदर्शित करणारे आणि धर्मनिरपेक्षतेला प्रोत्साहन देणारे अनेक प्रसंग आपल्याला पाहायला मिळतात. त्यातलाच एक प्रसंग म्हणजे धनुष्कोडीतील प्रभू रामचंद्रांशी निगडित उत्सव होय. 

या उत्सवात राम मंदिरातील रामाची मूर्ती रामेश्वरम वरून धनुष्कोडीला घेऊन जात. रामेश्वर आणि धनुष्कोडी यांच्या दरम्यान नदी वाहते. ही  नदी पार करून मूर्ती पलीकडच्या काठाला घेऊन जाण्यासाठी कलामांच्या वडिलांची नाव वापरली जात असे. ते स्वतः मनोभावे त्या कार्यात मदत करीत.सोबतच ते आपल्या नावेतून तीर्थांसाठी आलेल्या लोकांना अपेसखींत ठिकाणांपर्यंत पोचवून देत असत.आपण सहजच म्हणू शकतो कि डॉ.कलाम यांनी धर्म सहिष्णुता हा गन त्यांच्या वडिलांककडून घेतला.  

हिंदू -मुस्लिम ऐक्याबद्दल बोलायचे झाल्यास त्यांच्या बालपणातील एक प्रसंग खूप काही सांगून जातो. शाळेत कलाम आणि त्यांचा एक जिवलग मित्र, दोघेही सोबत एकाच बाकावर बसायचे. हा जिवलग मित्र म्हणजे रामेश्वरमच्या राम मंदिरातील पुजारी पक्षी लक्ष्मणशास्त्री यांचा मुलगा होता. 

एकदा शाळेत एक नवे शुष्कक आले होते. ते स्वभावाने खूप कर्मठ आणि सनातनी होते. त्यांना एका पुजाऱ्याच्या मुलाने एका मुस्लिमांच्या लेकरासोबत एका बाकावर बसलेले आवडले नाही. त्यांनी कलाम यांना मागच्या बाकावर जाऊन बसायला सांगितले. ते तसे का म्हणाले हे कलाम आणि त्यांचा मित्र या दोघांनाही लक्षात आले. 

कलामांनी मात्र या अपमानास्पद वागणुकीकडे कानाडोळा केला. मात्र त्यांच्या मित्राने ही  गोष्ट त्याच्या वडिलांच्या कानावर घातली. पक्षी लक्ष्मणशास्त्री आणि कलामांचे वडील चांगले मित्र होते. पक्षी लक्ष्मणशास्त्री यांनी त्या शिक्षकाला घरी भेटायला बोलावले आणि कडक शब्दांत त्याची समजूत काढली. त्यानंतर मात्र त्या शिक्षकाने कुठल्याही विद्यार्थ्याला जाती धर्मावरून वेगळी वागणूक दिली नाही. 

आपल्याला बऱ्याच ठिकाणी जाणवते कि कलाम अतिशय अध्यात्मिक स्वरूपाचे होते. ते स्वत अल्लाहला मानत असतांनाच शिवशंकर शम्भूपुढेही नतमस्तक होत असत. त्यांच्या मार्गदर्शनात तयार झालेल्या क्षेपणास्त्रांची नवे नंदी, त्रिशूल, नाग, यांसारखी आहेत. जी शंकराशी निगडित आहेत. त्यातून त्यांचा शिवभक्तीकडे असणारा कलही दिसून येतो. 

आध्यात्मिकतेचा सुवर्णस्पर्श 

आधुनिकी जग हे विज्ञान आणि अध्यात्मिक गोष्टी यांना एकमेकांच्या विरुद्व असणाऱ्या गोष्टी म्हणून बघतं. त्यातही एखादा वैज्ञानिक असेल किंवा विज्ञानवादी असेल तर सहसा त्याने देवाच्या अस्तित्वावर, त्याच्या महानतेवर प्रश्नचिन्ह उपस्थित करणे ही  तर आजची फॅशन होऊन बसली आहे. विज्ञानाची दोन तीन पुस्तके वाहून बरीच मंडळी आपण कसे जगावेगळे आहोत हे ठसवण्यासाठी या धार्मिकतेला, अध्यात्माला विरोध करतांना आढळतात. 

मात्र कलाम यांची कहाणी थोडी निराळीच आहे. त्यांच्या या जीवनकथेत अध्यात्मच अध्यात्म भरलेले आहे. एका वैज्ञानिकांचा असल्या गुढ गोष्टींवर विश्वास होता हे पाहताना आपल्याला थोडे वेगळे वाटेल पण तेच सत्य आहे. मात्र त्यांची देवावर असणारी श्रद्धा ही  अंधश्रद्धा नव्हती. ती अगदी सजग आणि डोळस अशी श्रद्धा आहे. 

त्यांच्या देवावर असणाऱ्या या श्रद्धेमुळेच त्यांना जीवनभर अगदी साधेपणाने जगात आले. कुठलाही गर्व, ईर्ष्या त्यांच्या मनात कधीच निर्माण झाली नाही. “जे काही माझ्या हाताने घडले. माझ्या हाताने देशाची जी काही सेवा झाली. ते सगळं त्या वरच्या करूणाकाराच्या योजनेचा भाग होय. त्यात माझं अस स्वतःच काहीच नाही.” या प्रकारचा नम्रभाव हा त्यांच्या अध्यात्मिकतेचाच परिणाम होय. 

पुस्तकाची सुरुवातच अथर्ववेदातील ओळींनी होते. बऱ्याच ठिकाणी पवित्र कुराण मधील बरीच उद्धरणे आली आहेत.सोबतच डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम यांचे त्यांच्या वडिलांशी, स्वामी सिवानंदांशी, जलालुद्दीनसोबत होणारे संभाषण हे सारे या आध्यात्मिक वूत्तीबद्दलच निर्देश करतात.

जीवनोपयोगी धड्यांनी भरलेली कथा 

अग्निपंख या पुस्तकातील प्रत्येक पाठात तुम्हाला जीवनोपयोगी शिकवन मिळेल. हे पुस्तक तुम्हाला मुख्यत्वे नेतृत्वाची कला शिकवेल. डॉ. कलाम यांनी खरे नेतृत्व काय असते हे विक्रम साराभाई, सतीश धवन, ब्रह्मा प्रकाश इत्यादींच्या उदाहरणांतून दाखवून दिले आहे. 

डॉ. कलाम स्वतःमध्येच खऱ्या नेतृत्वाचे उदाहरण आहेत. कुठलाही नेतृत्व म्हटलं की  सहसा आपल्या डोक्यांत एक भारदस्त व्यक्ती येते. जबरदस्त देहयष्टी, चांगला रोकठोक आवाज आणि कोणाही व्यक्तीपासून काम काढून घेण्याची लबाडी असे अनेक गुण असायला हवेत. मात्र डॉ. कलाम यांच्याकडे खरं  पाहता यांपैकी काहीही नव्हतं. 

डॉ. कलाम यांच्याकडे एक सगळ्यात महत्वाचा गुण होता. तो म्हणजे नवीन शिकण्यासाठी ते नेहमी तयार असत. परिणामी त्यांना आपल्या कनिष्ठांवर कधी बॉसिंग करायची गरजच पडली नाही. यश असेल तर श्रेय सर्वांना देणे आणि अपयशात सर्व जबाबदारी स्वतःवर स्वीकारणे या त्यांच्या वृत्तीमुळे आणि नम्र स्वभावामुळे त्यांनी नेतृत्वाची निराळीच पद्धत शोधली. 

मुळात आपण लोकांचं नेतृत्व करण्याची इच्छा ठेवण्यापेक्षा आपल्या कार्यात इतकं निपुण व्हावं की लोकं  आपसूकच आपलं अनुकरण करू लागतील. हेच आपल्याला डॉ. कलाम यांच्या अग्निपंख या पुस्तकातून शिकायला मिळत.

अग्निपंखच्या पुढच्या भागात, विज्ञान आणि शोध माणूस म्हणून त्याच्या प्रगतीवर या लेखनात लक्ष केंद्रित केले गेले. संरक्षण आणि अवकाश प्रकल्पांद्वारे त्याच्या कार्य दाखवते.

शालेय शिक्षण पूर्ण झाल्यानंतर कलाम यांचे व्यावसायिक जीवन संरक्षण संशोधन व विकास संस्था (डीआरडीओ) ने सुरू होते जिथे त्याला हॉव्हरक्राफ्ट प्रकल्पात काम करण्यासाठी पुरविण्यात आले होते.

डीआरडीओमध्ये काम केल्यानंतर ते भारतीय अंतराळ संशोधन संघटनेत (इस्रो) जॉइन झाले, जिथे त्यांना प्रोफेसर विक्रम साराभाई, डॉक्टर वर्नर व्हॅन ब्राउन, प्रोफेसर सतीश धवन यांच्यासह विज्ञान व तंत्रज्ञानाची बुद्धिमत्ता होती.

डीआरडीओमध्ये काम करत असताना, त्याने आपल्या कार्यकाळात अनेक उपग्रह प्रक्षेपणांमध्ये भाग घेण्यास आवडले. १९८० मध्ये ते एसएलव्ही-II प्रकल्पातील व्यवस्थापक होते जे भारतातील पहिले स्वदेशी उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण वाहन आहे.

अग्निपंखच्या या भागावर, विज्ञान आणि तंत्रज्ञानाच्या जगामध्ये जाण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. इतर सर्व महाविद्यालये आणि संघटनेशी तसेच बाह्य जगाशी संबंधित त्याच्या काही संवादांचा उल्लेख या पुस्तकात आहे.

कलाम - एक वैज्ञानिक 

१९८२  मध्ये कलाम पुन्हा डीआरडीओमध्ये संचालक म्हणून संरक्षण प्रयोगशाळेत सामील झाले. आपल्या कार्यकाळात ते पीएसएलव्ही (ध्रुवीय उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण वाहन), आकाश, नागा, अग्नि, त्रिशूल, आणि भारतीय इंटरकॉन्टिनेंटल बॅलिस्टिक क्षेपणास्त्र मालिकेसारख्या अत्यावश्यक क्षेपणास्त्र कार्यक्रमांसारख्या भारतातील काही अविश्वसनीय वैज्ञानिक प्रगतींचे प्राथमिक सदस्य होते.

हा विभाग सर्वोत्कृष्ट भारतीय वैज्ञानिकाला वंदन करतो. कलाम आणि त्याच्या सहका-यांचे अनेक चित्रे वाचकांना त्याच्या आयुष्याविषयी अधिक चांगले ज्ञान देण्यासाठी पुस्तकात जोडले गेले. ही चित्रे वाचकास त्याच्या आयुष्यातील काही टप्प्यांची कल्पना करू देतात.

इथे शेवटचा भाग संपतो, कलामच्या जीवनाचा एक नवीन टप्पा सुरु झाला. 1992 मध्ये ते भारताच्या संरक्षण मंत्रालयात वैज्ञानिक सल्लागार बनले. आता, वर्षांनुवर्षे त्याच्या मालकीचे जे काही आहे ते समाजाला परत देण्याची आता त्याची वेळ आहे. या वाक्यांशाचा अर्थ असा नाही की त्याला आपली मालमत्ता किंवा पैसा समाजाला द्यावी लागेल, जो त्याच्याकडे कधीच नव्हता परंतु त्याने वर्षानुवर्षे अनुभव घेतलेले ज्ञान आणि अनुभव आहे.

राजस्थानच्या पोखरण येथे झालेल्या आण्विक चाचणीबद्दल तुम्ही ऐकले असेल ज्यामुळे संपूर्ण जगाला हादरा बसला आणि “भारत काय सक्षम आहे” याची स्पष्ट जाणीव करून देते, कलाम या संघातील महत्वाच्या सदस्यांपैकी एक होते.

कलाम यांना भारताचा सर्वोच्च तीन नागरी पुरस्कार, म्हणजेच १९९७  मध्ये भारतरत्न, १९९०  मध्ये पद्म विभूषण आणि १९८१  मध्ये पद्मभूषण पुरस्काराने सन्मानित करण्यात आले. तसेच जगातील ३००  हून अधिक विद्यापीठांमधून मानद पदवी देऊन त्यांचा गौरव करण्यात आला.

अग्निपंख पुस्तक हे  सर्वसामान्य माणसाचा प्रवास आहे ज्याने एका गरीब वर्गातील मुस्लिम कुटुंबात जन्म घेतला आणि भारताचे राष्ट्रपती बनले आणि आत्मचरित्र त्यांच्या स्वत: च्या काळाचे सर्वात प्रेरणादायक मानले जाते.

ही अपवादात्मक प्रतिभा असलेल्या सामान्य व्यक्तीची उत्कृष्ट कथा आहे. तसेच हे पुस्तक एका दूरदृष्टी नेत्याच्या प्रवासाचे वर्णन केले आहे ज्यांची कृती त्याच्या शब्दांपेक्षा खूपच जोरात आहे.

ते अशा देशात राहतो जिथे जातीय दंगली सामान्य आहेत आणि भ्रष्टाचार आणि लोभाने सिस्टम अधू केली आहे . सर्व असूनही, त्याने आपले संपूर्ण आयुष्य आपल्या राष्ट्रासाठी दिले. जरी, ते  इतके  देशभक्त होते  की शिलॉंग इंडियन इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ मॅनेजमेंटच्या स्टेज येथे श्रोतांचे भाषण झाले त्यावेळी त्यांचे निधन झाले.

Introduction

Dr. Kalam was born on 15 October 1931, He is the son of Jainulabdeen a little educated boat owner in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. 

Kalam has also been awarded Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award,

This is the story of Kalam’s effort in his career as well as the story of AGNI, TRISHUL, and NAG missiles.

Orientation

In this section, he introduces us to his family and his birthplace Rameswaram. 

He was a great devotee of his father Jainulabdeen and he was also greatly influenced by his close friend Jalaluddin.

He was also interested in talking about spiritual matters with his friends and also believed in God or Khuda, he always went to Lord Shiva’s temple with his friends.

Then in the next part, Dr. Kalam introduces his cousin Samsuddin and his school teachers, and all the people. 

In this section, he also tells us about her educational or career background, he creates all his opportunities on his own.

This part consists of 7 chapters, from chapter 4 to chapter 10, and covers Kalam’s life and work for 17 years.

This section covers the year from 1963 to 1980, This period included Kalam national recognition and a pleasant surprise came in the form of Padma Bhushan on 1981 Republic Day.

Propitiation

This Part covers the years 1981 to 1991, This part includes the scientist’s journey towards becoming the  “Missile man of India”. 

In this time of life, Kalam was responsible for the development of the five Missiles: Prithvi, Trishul, Akash, Nag, and Agni.

In the last section, the book has 24 plates with photographs connected with the life and work of Dr. Kalam.

Wings of Fire book was written by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Arun Tiwari.

Dr. A.P.J examines his early life, struggle, worry, courage, success, and a chance that finally led him to Indian space research, and nuclear and missile programs. 

Kalam started his career, after finishing his graduation from Aerospace Engineering at Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) Chennai, at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and then he was assigned to build a hovercraft model.

Then DR. Kalam moved to ISRO and helped establish the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and guide the first space launch vehicle program.

In the 1990s and early 2000, Kalam moved to the DRDO to lead the Indian nuclear weapons program, with remarkable achievements in thermonuclear weapons development culminating in the operation Smiling Buddha and an  Agni (Missile) .

Kalam’s last day was 27 July 2015, he died during a speech at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong, Meghalaya.

डॉ. कलामांचा साधेपणा आणि आपल्या देशबांधवांप्रती असलेली आत्मीयता पुढील परिच्छेदातुन जाणवते.

‘दहा वर्षांपूर्वी ‘पद्यभूषण’ सन्मान मिळाला होता, त्या वेळच्या आठवणींनी मला घेरून टाकले. मी त्यावेळी होतो, तोच होतो, तसाच राहत होतो. दहा बाय बाराच्या खोलीत पुस्तकांनी भरलेल्या कपाटांच्या संगतीने. त्या खोलीत कागद आणि अत्यावश्यक जुजबी भाड्याचे फर्निचर माझ्या सोबत तिथे होते. त्यावेळी ही खोली त्रिवेंद्रमला होती, आता हैद्राबादला – इतकाच फरक होता. सकाळी मेसचा पोऱ्या इडली आणि ताक असा नाश्ता घेऊन आला. अभिनंदनाचे छानसे बुजरे हास्य मला देऊन गेला. माझ्या देशवासीयांनी माझ्या कामाच्या स्वीकृतीची पावती म्हणून दिलेल्या सन्मानाने मी भारावून गेलो. आपल्या देशातील संशोधक फार मोठ्या संख्येने पहिली संधी पकडून परदेशी जातात, भरपूर पैसा मिळवतात, ऐषआराम खरीदतात. पण मला माझ्या देशवासीयांकडून मिळणारे प्रेम, आदर आणि सन्मान यांची भरपाई कशाने होईल का?’

खरंतर, डॉ. कलामांनी आपल्या देशाला आणि मुख्यतः देशातील तरुणांना जी प्रेरणा दिलेली आहे, जो मार्ग दाखवला आहे, त्याची भरपाई कशानेही होणं शक्य नाही.

हा तर त्यांच्या पुस्तकातला ‘फक्त एक’ परिच्छेद होता. तुम्हाला अंदाजा आला असेलच, ह्या सहज लिहिलेल्या मोजक्या ओळी आपल्या मनाला इतकी शांतात देऊन जातात, तर मग पूर्ण पुस्तक वाचून त्यांचं आयुष्य डोळ्यासमोर उभं होताना पाहण याहून मोठं सुख आणि भाग्याची गोष्ट ती कोणती!

Reading a book is a good habit, the habit of reading is one of the best qualities that a person can possess. “If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.”

“Wings of Fire” An Autobiography of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India. It was written by Dr. Abdul Kalam and Mr. Arun Tiwari, a well-known missile scientist was a colleague of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam examines his early life, effort, hardship, fortitude, luck, and the chance that eventually led him to lead Indian space research, nuclear and missile programs.

Friends, I don’t have that much knowledge to make a judgment on this book, I just want to express some of my thought with you and what I have learned from this book “Wings of Fire”.

About the Author

“Avul Pakir Jainulabeen Abdul Kalam” his full name, The author was born and raised on Mosque Street in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He served as the 11 th President of India from 2002 to 2007. 

Greatly admired all over India, he was a scientist by profession, who played a leading role in developing the country’s missile program. From humble roots in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Dr. kalam in an inspirational autobiography ‘ The Wings of Fire’ traces the rise and the make he made his life.

Arun Tiwari rose to fame as an author with his book Wings of Fire, which he co-authored with Dr. A.P.J Abdul kalam. He has written several books and co-authored five books with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He contributed to the design of the missiles. Tiwari has been the director at the Cardiovascular Technology Institute in Hyderabad. He received the   Defence Technology Spinoff Award for developing the Kalam-Raju stent.

About the Book:

This book contains the life of a simple yet determined person. There is so much knowledge and good things that everybody can extract from this book. Reading this book is a very heartwarming and beautiful experience.

This book contains a very detailed description of how great things can be achieved through simple thoughts. This book conveys the message of the authors that always keep your dream high, your goal clear, plan perfectly and do hard work.

The story is all about a warm and intensely personal, deeply passionate, common boat – owner’s son who has become India’s most distinguished living technocrat. The pure faith in God and deep kindness, dealing life with positivity, science, and technological advancements, Love toward one country and many more things are mentioned in this book.

The book is full of insights, personal moments, and life experiences of Dr. APJ Kalam. It gives us an understanding of his journey of success.

This is a story of a boy who was born in a normal and middle-class family. He had a curiosity about aeronautical engineering. He faced so many failures during launching the satellite called SLV [Satellite Launching Vehicle] but he proved that anything can be achieved by keep trying because when you become a failure then you go one step closer to success.

The author, by narrating his life journey evokes the reader to identify with one’s inner fire and potential, for he was of the firm belief that each one of us was born with the strength and potential to make a tangible change in the world. How he inspired himself to achieve his dream and how he went about accomplished so much is what the book captures nicely.

The book recollects many anecdotes and stories from childhood, his time at school and college, He wrote the time spent at the Langley Research Center, NASA and Wallops Flight Facility gets a lot of attention.

Personal tragedies have not left been left out. The time when he lost his father and how he felt when conferred with many awards like the Padma   Bhushan have been written in much detail.

The second half of the book deals with the author, the scientist who made a significant contribution in developing the country's guided missile program, a pioneering effort for the security of the nation. It’s not with reason that he was nicknamed the ‘ Missile Man of India’.

I hope this book is best suited for reading for teenagers and youths, to dream and to dare. It shows, how a person from a modest background ends up being the first citizen of a nation of one billion.

In this book, there is something that everybody can extract from and worthy of being read by every Indian. A   very detailed description of how great things can be achieved through simple thoughts. Always keep your dream high, set your goals clear, plan perfectly and work through people. I will suggest never miss reading this great book if you haven’t yet.

     "Wings Of Fire : An Autobiography of Abdul Kalam”   is written by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Arun Tiwari. This book is an autobiography of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India. This story sheds light on the journey of a young boy from Rameswaram to become a renowned scientist. It reflects how simple living, dedication, strong will and hard work led to success. It also shows how cultural unity impacts the lives of individuals.

     The story begins with Kalam as a boy in the village of Rameswaram where he lived with his parents and four brothers and one sister. In this book, the author tells us how the role of family, relatives, friends, and society contribute to an individual’s life. Kalam describes his village where everyone lives in harmony. Religious discrimination was unknown at that time. A passage that shows the closeness  they had: “The priest of Rameswaram temple, Pakshi Lakshmana Sastry, was a very close friend of my father’s. One of the most vivid memories of my early childhood is of the two men, each in his traditional attire, discussing spiritual matters.”

   When he was very young, Kalam wanted to join the Indian Airforce but he was not able to clear the interview. Far from being demotivated, he focused more on studies, started his career in Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), and was involved in the design of a hovercraft. He went to NASA on a training program. He moved to Indian Space Research and there he met Vikram Sarabhai. He also met many geniuses who inspired him. The book also describes leadership and teamwork. 

   The book reveals extensive and detailed project work by Dr. APJ Kalam. Some readers may find this detailed descriptions boring and unappealing. It highlights the successful execution of “Agni” and other projects.

  The book narrates India’s technological achievements . It speaks about some brilliant minds who worked behind Indian space research such as Vikram Sarabhai and Dr. Brahm Prakash and their contribution towards ISRO.

   As a reader, this book initially is very interesting particularly the portions from his younger days to a college student who was encouraged by his family. Later, the writing becomes a bit monotonous as it gives minute illustrations of the projects. At the end, he offers advice to the younger generation not to get demotivated and lead a positive life.

 This book demonstrates how Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s simple living and positive thinking became an inspiration for the Indian youth.

The book is in different parts which deal with the different stages of his life, his struggle in life, and his achievements. The author has focused on his struggle during his study. The expectations of the parents and the same expectations proved to motivate the author. It also deals with the before and after getting the post, and the treatment he got before and after being selected for Indian Police Services. 

The cover page of the book has the dashing photograph of the author in uniform, the cover photo seems apt to the title of the book as it's full of self-belief. It appeals to the readers to read it. The back page with the author's message and signature. The book is devoted to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the 26/11 attack. The book is the complete balance of the village life and his journey towards the respected designation. This is the story of the village boy who aspires to be an IPS officer. He was shifted to Mumbai for the preparation of the exam. 

Language Style and Presentation:- 

It's written in Marathi's first-person narration in an autobiographical manner, due to the first-person narration, it feels as if the readers are interacting with the author. The presentation of the events in his life is very realistic and the language is heart touching, enabling the readers to feel very close to the story. It's very easy to understand for the readers.

Book Review: Wings of Fire by APJ Abdul Kalam

Introduction.

APJ Abdul Kalam is a renowned Indian scientist who went on to become 11th President of India (2002-2007). He is very well known across India and is a recipient of India’s three highest civilian awards – Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna. Wings of Fire is an autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam written jointly by Arun Tiwari and Abdul Kalam. It covers Kalam’s life before he became president of India and in 2013 another autobiography titled "My Journey: Transforming Dreams into Actions" was released.

Wings of Fire is an autography of APJ Abdul Kalam covering his early life and his work in Indian space research and missile programs. It is the story of a boy from a humble background who went on to become a key player in Indian space research/Indian missile programs and later became the president of India. The book has been very popular in India and has been translated into multiple languages. I recently picked up a copy and read it in a couple of days. It was very engaging initially, but tended to drag a bit towards the end with lot of technical details and procedural information of his space research and missile projects.

I loved the initial chapters of Wings of Fire since it gives a vivid picture of our country during 1930 – 1950s. Kalam was born in Rameswaram, a southern religious town in Tamilnadu. The initial chapters provides an interesting glimpse of religious harmony which existed before India’s partition,

The famous Shiva temple, which made Rameswaram so sacred to pilgrims , was about a ten-minute walk from our house. Our locality was predominantly Muslim, but there were quite a few Hindu families too, living amicably with their Muslim neighbours. …… The high priest of Rameswaram temple, Pakshi Lakshmana Sastry, was a very close friend of my father’s. One of the most vivid memories of my early childhood is of the two men, each in his traditional attire, discussing spiritual matters. …… One day when I was in the fifth standard at the Rameswaram Elementary School, a new teacher came to our class. I used to wear a cap which marked me as a Muslim, and I always sat in the front row next to Ramanadha Sastry, who wore a sacred thread. The new teacher could not stomach a Hindu priest’s son sitting with a Muslim boy. In accordance with our social ranking as the new teacher saw it, I was asked to go and sit on the back bench. I felt very sad, and so did Ramanadha Sastry. He looked utterly downcast as I shifted to my seat in the last row. The image of him weeping when I shifted to the last row left a lasting impression on me. After school , we went home and told our respective parents about the incident. Lakshmana Sastry summoned the teacher, and in our presence , told the teacher that he should not spread the poison of social inequality and communal intolerance in the minds of innocent children. He bluntly asked the teacher to either apologize or quit the school and the island. Not only did the teacher regret his behaviour, but the strong sense of conviction Lakshmana Sastry conveyed ultimately reformed this young teacher.

Kalam in younger years wanted to be an officer in air force, however he couldn’t clear the interview. He met Swami Sivananda after this failure and I found his words to Kalam interesting and in a way prophetic,

Accept your destiny and go ahead with your life. You are not destined to become an Air Force pilot. What you are destined to become is not revealed now but it is predetermined. Forget this failure, as it was essential to lead you to your destined path. Search, instead, for the true purpose of your existence. Become one with yourself, my son! Surrender yourself to the wish of God,

Here, I saw a painting prominently displayed in the reception lobby. It depicted a battle scene with a few rockets flying in the background. A painting with this theme should be the most commonplace thing at a Flight Facility, but the painting caught my eye because the soldiers on the side launching the rockets were not white , but dark-skinned, with the racial features of people found in South Asia. One day, my curiosity got the better of me, drawing me towards the painting. It turned out to be Tipu Sultan’s army fighting the British. The painting depicted a fact forgotten in Tipu’s own country but commemorated here on the other side of the planet. I was happy to see an Indian glorified by NASA as a hero of warfare rocketry.

The book covers a lot of "behind the scene" information and technical details about India’s satellite and missile program (SLV-3, Prithvi, Agni, Thrisul, Akash and Nag). This might interest technically inclined readers but is sure to put off readers who bought the book to get to know Kalam or to know his principles/ideas. Space and missile programs are huge complex projects and managing them is extremely challenging. The book does give a glimpse of the participatory management technique adopted by Kalam, but at the same time it doesn’t go into details.

Wings of fire covers Kalam’s personal life only briefly which is strange for an autobiography. For example, we don’t know why he decided to remain single or his activities outside space research (even though we can conclude in the end that he was married to science and technology).

Kalam is a poet and is a huge fan of poems. The book contains many of his own poems and his favorite poems. Here is an example,

Do not look at Agni as an entity directed upward to deter the ominous or exhibit your might. It is fire in the heart of an Indian. Do not even give it the form of a missile as it clings to the burning pride of this nation and thus is bright.

Through Wings of Fire, we come across some brilliant people who worked behind Indian space research  such as Vikram Sarabhai and Dr. Brahm Prakash. The book also contains about 24 photos and I found the ones from the early days of Indian space program very interesting. This alone is worth the price of the book!

One of the things that stands out throughout the book is Kalam’s positive thinking. He held many high ranking positions in various organizations. Yet in the book he rarely mentions anything about lethargy/corruption of bureaucracy or politicians. The secret to his success seems to be his ability to ignore negative things around him. The book also gives a clue to his popularity in India. Kalam is a simple, secular, inspiring humanitarian.

My Rating: 7/10. I liked the initial chapters, but wasn’t much impressed by later chapters. Kalam should look for a better writer to write his updated autobiography (After I wrote this review I realized that he has released a new autobiography titled "My Journey: Transforming Dreams into Actions").

Introduction

Agnipankh book is being released at a time when India’s technological endeavours, to assert its sovereignty and strengthen its security, are questioned by many in the world. Historically, people have always fought among themselves on one issue or another. Prehistorically, battles were fought over food and shelter. With the passage of time, wars were waged over religious and ideological beliefs; and now the dominant struggle of sophisticated warfare is for economic and technological supremacy. Consequently, economic and technological supremacy is equated with political power and world control.

A few nations who have grown very strong technologically, over the past few centuries, have wrested control, for their own purposes. These major powers have become the self-proclaimed leaders of the new world order. What does a country of one billion people, like India, do in such a situation? We have no other option but to be technologically strong. But, can India be a leader in the field of technology? My answer is an emphatic Yes. And let me validate my answer by narrating some incidents from my life.

अवुल पाकीर जैनुलब्दीन अब्दुल कलाम हे त्यांच्या अनेक देशवासियांना भारतीय जीवनातील सर्वोत्तम पैलूंचे वैयक्तिकरित्या प्रतिनिधित्व करण्यासाठी आले आहेत. 1931 मध्ये जन्मलेल्या, तामिळनाडूच्या रामेश्वरम येथे एका अल्पशिक्षित बोटाउनरचा मुलगा, संरक्षण शास्त्रज्ञ म्हणून त्याची अतुलनीय कारकीर्द होती, ज्याने भारताचा सर्वोच्च नागरी पुरस्कार, भारतरत्न मिळवला. देशाच्या संरक्षण संशोधन आणि विकास कार्यक्रमाचे प्रमुख या नात्याने कलाम यांनी गतिमानता आणि नावीन्यतेची मोठी क्षमता दाखवून दिली जी उशिर झालेल्या संशोधन आस्थापनांमध्ये अस्तित्वात आहे. ही कथा आहे कलामांच्या अस्पष्टतेतून उठलेली आणि त्यांच्या वैयक्तिक आणि व्यावसायिक संघर्षांची, तसेच अग्नी, पृथ्वी, आकाश, त्रिशूल आणि नाग या क्षेपणास्त्रांची कथा आहे जी भारतातील घराघरात नावारूपाला आली आहेत आणि ज्यांनी देशाला उच्च पातळीवर नेले आहे. आंतरराष्ट्रीय गणनाची क्षेपणास्त्र शक्ती.

When a person achieves any success with his patience and hard work, then he must share his story with the rest of the people because that other people can get inspiration and strength to move forward.

it is one such autobiography of visionary scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. This is full of personal moments and experiences of Dr Kalam’s life. Through this book, we get to know how Kalam walks on the path of success and be called a great person.

Abdul Kalam’s book is written by Shri Arun Tiwari ji, it has 180 pages and its English version The Wings of Fire was first published in 2000. This book has also been translated into many languages, including French and Chinese.

This book reminisces many stories of Kalam’s childhood and his time in schools and colleges. Also his time spent at the Research Center, NASA and the Wallops Flight Facility gets a lot of attention.

'wings of fire' is the autobiography of dr a.p.j. abdul kalam and contains the story of dr kalam’s rise from a middle-class family with great determination.

'Wings of Fire' is the autobiography of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and contains the story of Dr Kalam’s rise from a middle-class family with great determination and his unparalleled career as a defence scientist, culminating in the highest civilian award in India, the Bharat Ratna. The story also contains his journey as the 11th President of India in 2002. The story inspires every individual to achieve dreams with a proper vision towards his/her goal. Ananya Kukreti reviews the book.

One of the best habits a person may have is reading. Reading is a healthy habit. Wings of Fire by Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam, a former Indian president, wrote an autobiography. He wrote it and Mr Arun Tiwari, a well-known missile scientist who was Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam's colleague. Dr Kalam explores his upbringing, struggles, perseverance, good fortune, and chance events that ultimately led him to take charge of India's nuclear and missile programmes and its space exploration efforts.

About the Author

His full name is "Avul Pakir Jainulabeen Abdul Kalam," and he was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, on Mosque Street. From 2002 to 2007, he presided as India's eleventh president.

He was a scientist by trade and was highly esteemed throughout India. He was instrumental in the creation of India's missile programme. From modest beginnings in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. In his motivational autobiography "The Wings of Fire," Dr Kalam describes his ascent to success and his life's journey. After the publication of Wings of Fire, a book he co-wrote with Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Arun Tiwari became well-known as a writer. He has co-authored five books with Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam and has written several other publications. He contributed to the missile design. The Cardiovascular Technologies Institute in Hyderabad has had Tiwari as its director. He created the Kalam-Raju stent, for which he was given the Defense Technology Spinoff Award.

About the Book

The life of a straightforward but tenacious person is depicted in this novel. This book contains a wealth of information and positive qualities that everybody can benefit from. It's a comforting and lovely experience to read this book.

This book gives a very thorough explanation of how lofty goals can be realised with straightforward concepts. The writers' advice to always maintain your dream high, and your goal distinct, plan meticulously, and work hard is conveyed in this book.

The protagonist of the tale is the son of a common boat owner who has grown to be India's most illustrious living technocrat. He is warm and fiercely passionate. This book discusses a wide range of topics, including unwavering confidence in God, profound kindness, dealing with life positively, scientific and technical breakthroughs, love for one's nation, and many others. Dr A.P.J Kalam's life experiences, insights, and private moments are all included in the book. It enables us to comprehend his successful career path.

The boy in this tale was born into a typical middle-class family. He was interested in the field of aeronautical engineering. He encountered a lot of difficulties while launching the satellite known as the SLV [Satellite Launching Vehicle], but he managed to show that everything is possible if you keep trying since every failure brings you that much closer to success.

Because he was adamant that every one of us was born with the strength and potential to make a real difference in the world, the author encourages the reader to identify with their inner fire and potential by telling his or her own life experience. The book does a good job of capturing how he motivated himself to pursue his dream and how he went about achieving so much.

The book recalls several tales and anecdotes from his early years, his days in school and college, He claimed that the time spent at the Wallops Flying Facility, NASA, and Langley Research Center attracted a lot of attention.

Tragic personal events have not been overlooked. He has written extensively on the moment he lost his father and how he felt after receiving numerous honours including the Padma Bhushan.

The author, a scientist who significantly aided in the development of the nation's guided missile programme, a ground-breaking effort for the country's security, is the subject of the book's second part. He was given the moniker "Missile Man of India" for good cause.

I hope young people can read this book and be inspired to dream and take risks. It demonstrates how a person with a humble upbringing becomes the first citizen of a country with a billion people.

Everyone may learn something from this book, and it deserves to be read by every Indian. A really thorough explanation of how great things may be accomplished with the help of basic thinking. Constantly keep your dream high, establish clear goals, make meticulous plans, and collaborate with others. If you haven't already, I urge you not to skip reading this fantastic book.
