What you will—and won't—find in this movie. Positive Messages Not present. Family tensions and minor deceits, but all resolve. Violence & Scariness Not present. Brief (comedic) consideration of suicide by knifin. Sex, Romance & Nudity. Some references to sex, some scanty women's cl. Language.

I've seen Cameron Crowe's "Elizabethtown" twice, and remarkable is the difference between the two versions. Critics were warned before seeing the Toronto film festival version that it was not the final cut, and was it ever not. The new version is 18 minutes shorter, and more than 18 percent better, and wisely eliminates the question of why anyone would want to wear a pair of shoes that whistled.

After all he's been through he contemplates suicide, and even goes to the point of figuring out how he will do it. The suicide is represented in a dark comedical way.

Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst both give wonderful performances (probably the best of both of their careers) in this film. Dunst is perfect at being sweet, Southern, and mischievous.
