हमारा वातावरण में कई कारणों की वजह से प्रदूषित हो रहा है लेकिन ग्लोबल वार्मिंग एक अहम समस्या बन गई है और इसके पीछे कुछ महत्वपूर्ण कारण मौजूद हैं –

प्रदूषण – धरती पर प्रदूषण दिन प्रतिदिन बढ़ता जा रहा और जिसकी वजह से तापमान में वृद्धि हो रही है। तापमान में वृद्धि होना ग्लोबल वार्मिंग की समस्या का प्रभाव अधिक बढ़ाता है। वायु प्रदूषण, ध्वनि प्रदूषण, जल प्रदूषण तथा भूमि प्रदूषण ये सभी कहीं न कहीं हमारी पृथ्वी को नुकसान पहुंचा रहे हैं। लेकिन इनसे निकलने वाली खतरनाक गैसें धरती के ऊपरी स्तर या वायुमंडल को प्रभावित कर रही हैं, जिनकी वजह से तापमान में उतार-चढ़ाव देखने को मिल रहा है ।

ग्रीन हॉउस गैस – यह साफ है कि ग्रीन हॉउस गैसों के कारण ही ग्लोबल वार्मिंग जैसी खतरनाक समस्या बढ़ रही है। ये गैसें सूर्य से आने वाली गर्मी को अपने अंदर समा लेती हैं। इन सभी गैसों में सबसे खतरनाक सीओ2 गैस है और यदि यह गैस बाकी अन्य जैसे क्लोरीन, नाइट्रोजन ऑक्साइड, मीथेन गैसों से मिलती हैं तो यह हमारी धरती की ऊपरी सतह के रेडियोएक्टिव संतुलन को बिगाड़ते हैं क्योंकि इनमें गर्मी को सोखने की क्षमता अधिक होती है जिसकी वजह से धरती का तापमान बढ़ जाता है।

बढ़ती आबादी – विश्व में बढ़ने वाली आबादी भी इसका अहम कारण है। क्योंकि सीओ2 जैसी गैस मनुष्य ऑक्सीजन लेते वक्त बाहर छोड़ता है, जिसकी वजह से वातावरण में इसकी मात्रा अधिक हो जाती है। इसी कारण ग्लोबल वार्मिंग समस्या बढ़ने लगती है।

औद्योगिक विकास – शहरों के विकास के लिए मानव कई इंडस्ट्रीज और कारखानों का उपयोग कर रहा है। इन्हीं कारखानों से निकलने वाले हानिकारक रसायन, जहरीले पदार्थ, गंदा धुआं और प्लास्टिक आदि पृथ्वी को नुकसान पहुंचा रहे हैं।

ओजोन लेयर का घटना – अंटाकर्टिका में ओजोन की परत घटती जा रही है जो कि ग्लोबल वार्मिंग का अहम संकेत माना गया है और यह क्लोरो फ्लोरो कार्बन गैस के बढ़ जाने की वजह से हो रहा है। यह समस्या भी इंसानों की देन है क्योंकि इंडस्ट्रीज से लेकर घर तक क्लोरो फ्लोरो कार्बन का नियमित उपयोग किया जा रहा है, जिससे की ओजोन को बहुत नुकसान हो रहा है।

ग्लोबल वार्मिंग के परिणाम (Consequences Of Global Warming)

पूरे विश्व में ग्लोबल वार्मिंग एक गंभीर समस्या बन गयी है जिसकी वजह से हमारी प्रकृति को कई तरह से अनचाहे बदलावों से गुजरना पड़ रहा है। कई ऐसी प्राकृतिक घटनाएं है, जैसे बाढ़, सूखा, तूफान आदि जो पृथ्वी का भयंकर नुकसान पहुंचा रहे हैं। सिर्फ इतना ही नहीं ग्लोबल वार्मिंग की वजह धरती के लिए सबसे जरूरी ओजोन की परत भी घटती जा रही है। ओजोन लेयर सूरज से आने वाली हानिकारक अल्ट्रावायलेट किरणों से धरती को बचाता है। लेकिन अब इसमें छेद होने लगे हैं और यदि यह समस्या ऐसे ही बढ़ती गई तो धरती में मनुष्य के साथ किसी भी अन्य जीवों का गुजारा नामुमकिन है। सूरज से आने वाली ये किरणें बेहद हानिकारक होती हैं। सिर्फ इतना ही नहीं इन दिनों ग्लोबल वार्मिंग के कारण मौसम में भी कई तरह के बदलाव देखने को मिल रहे हैं। धरती पर गर्मी बढ़ती जा रही है और सर्दी का समय कम होता जा रहा है। बढ़ती गर्मी की वजह से ग्लेशियर पिघल रहे हैं और उसका पानी समुद्र में जा रहा है जिसकी वजह से समुद्र का स्तर बढ़ रहा है जो कि खतरनाक स्थिति पैदा कर सकता है।

ग्लोबल वार्मिंग रोकने के उपाय (Ways To Prevent Global Warming)

इस समस्या को रोकने के कई उपाय दिए गए हैं जिनका पालन करने से इसमें कमी आ सकती है –

• हमें लोगों को इस समस्या के लिए जागरूक करना होगा ताकि वह इसकी गंभीरता को समझ सकें।
• सरकार को ग्लोबल वार्मिंग जैसी समस्या के लिए कई योजनाएं बनानी चाहिए जिससे लोगों को इसके दुष्परिणामों की जानकारी हो।
• जो वस्तु ग्रीन हाउस गैसें का उत्पादन अधिक करती हैं, उनका उपयोग कम करना चाहिए।
• खुद के निजी वाहन का उपयोग कम कर के सार्वजनिक वाहनों का उपयोग बढ़ा दें।
• जंगलों को नहीं काटना चाहिए बल्कि जितना हो सके अधिक पेड़-पौधे लगाएं।
• एयर कंडीशनर का उपयोग जरूरत भर के लिए ही करें।
• देश की आबादी को नियंत्रित करना जरूरी है।
• प्लास्टिक की थैलियों की वजह कपड़े के थैले इस्तेमाल करें।

• एक स्टडी के अनुसार, 20वीं सदी के आखिर के दो दशक पिछले 400 सालों में सबसे गर्म रहे हैं।
• ग्लोबल वार्मिंग के कारण आर्कटिक की बर्फ तेजी से पिघल रही है और ऐसा अनुमान है कि 2040 तक यहाँ पूरी बर्फ पिघल जाएगी।

धरती पर जीवन के अनुकूल जलवायु के कारण ही यहां जीवन संभव है, लेकिन हाल के वर्षों में इसमें लगातार हो रहे परिवर्तन ने वैश्विक स्तर पर चिंता बढ़ाई है। जीवाश्म ईंधन जैसे, कोयला, तेल, प्राकृतिक गैस आदि को जलाने के कारण पृथ्वी के वातावरण में तेजी से जलवायु परिवर्तन हो रहा है। औसत मौसम में लगातार हो रहे परिवर्तन को जलवायु परिवर्तन या क्लाइमेट चेंज (Climate change) कहा जाता है। दशकों, सदियों या उससे अधिक समय में जलवायु में बड़े स्तर पर हो रहे परिवर्तन से जीवन पर प्रभाव पड़ता है। इन दिनों उद्योग और शहरीकरण से इस परिवर्तन में तेजी देखी गई है।

सामान्यतः जलवायु का मतलब किसी क्षेत्र में लंबे समय तक औसत मौसम से होता है। अतः जब किसी क्षेत्र विशेष के औसत मौसम में परिवर्तन आता है तो उसे जलवायु परिवर्तन (Climate Change) कहते हैं। जलवायु एक ऐसा पहलू है जो दुनिया के हर इंसान के जीवन से जुड़ा हुआ है। जलवायु की दशा हमारे जीवन को बहुत प्रभावित करती है। मानवीय तथा कुछ प्राकृतिक गतिविधियों के कारण जलवायु की दशा बदल रही है। हाल के वर्षों और दशकों में गर्मी के कई रिकॉर्ड टूट गए हैं: यूएन जलवायु रिपोर्ट 2019 इस बात की पुष्टि करती है कि 2010-2019 सबसे गर्म दशक था। वर्ष 2019 में वातावरण में कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड (CO2) तथा अन्य ग्रीनहाउस गैसें नए रिकॉर्ड स्तर तक पहुंच गई थी।

इन सब वजहों से जलवायु में परिवर्तन आ रहा है, जिसे जलवायु परिवर्तन की संज्ञा दी जा रही है। इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं है कि जलवायु में हो रहे नकारात्मक परिवर्तन (Negative changes in climate) पृथ्वी पर रहने वाले जीवों के लिए बहुत ही खतरनाक सिद्ध होंगे। हालांकि जलवायु परिवर्तन से जुड़े खतरों के प्रति सरकारें जागरूक हो रही हैं और लोगों को भी जलवायु परिवर्तन से जुड़े खतरों के प्रति आगाह करने की जरूरत है। हमारे देश भारत के लिए राहत की बात है कि वर्ष 2024 में जलवायु प्रदर्शन सूचकांक में सातवें स्थान पर रहा जो बीते वर्ष 2023 में 8वें नंबर पर था। हालांकि इसमें अभी काफी सुधार की जरूरत है।

जलवायु परिवर्तन पर लेख (jalvayu parivartan par lekh) के प्रारंभ में जलवायु क्या है, पहले इस बात को समझने की जरूरत है। एक बड़े भू-क्षेत्र में लंबे समय तक रहने वाले मौसम की औसत स्थिति को जलवायु की संज्ञा दी जाती है। किसी भू-भाग की जलवायु पर उसकी भौगोलिक स्थिति का सर्वाधिक असर पड़ता है। यूरोपीय देशों में जहां गर्मी की ऋतु छोटी होती है और कड़ाके की ठंड पड़ती है, जबकि भारत में अधिक गर्मी वाले मौसम की प्रधानता रहती है। सर्दियों के 2-3 महीनों को छोड़ दिया जाए, तो शेष समय जलवायु गर्म ही रहता है। भारत के समुद्र तटीय क्षेत्रों में, तो सर्दियों की ऋतु का तापमान औसत स्तर का रहता है। इस तरह किसी क्षेत्र की जलवायु उसकी स्थिति पर निर्भर करती है।

किसी क्षेत्र विशेष की परंपरागत जलवायु में समय के साथ होने वाले बदलाव को जलवायु परिवर्तन कहा जाता है। जलवायु में आने वाले परिवर्तन के प्रभाव को एक सीमित क्षेत्र में अनुभव किया जा सकता है तथा पूरी दुनिया में भी इसके प्रभाव दिखने लगे हैं। वर्तमान में जलवायु परिवर्तन की स्थिति गंभीर दशा में पहुँच रही है और पूरे विश्व पर इसका असर देखने को मिल रहा है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र की जलवायु रिपोर्ट (climate report) में बताया गया है कि जलवायु परिवर्तन का पर्यावरण के सभी पहलुओं के साथ-साथ वैश्विक आबादी के स्वास्थ्य और कल्याण पर व्यापक प्रभाव पड़ रहा है। विश्व मौसम विज्ञान संगठन की अगुवाई में तैयार रिपोर्ट में जलवायु परिवर्तन के भौतिक संकेतों - जैसे भूमि और समुद्र के तापमान में वृद्धि, समुद्र के जल स्तर में वृद्धि और बर्फ के पिघलने के अलावा सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास, मानव स्वास्थ्य, प्रवास और विस्थापन, खाद्य सुरक्षा और भूमि तथा समुद्र के पारिस्थितिक तंत्र पर प्रभाव का दस्तावेजीकरण किया गया है।

बढ़ते पर्यावरण प्रदूषण के कारण भी पृथ्वी के तापमान में लगातर बढ़ोतरी हो रही है। पर्यावरण प्रदूषण के कारण बढ़ते तापमान ने जलवायु परिवर्तन की स्थिति को और गंभीर बनाने का कार्य किया है। जलवायु रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 1980 के दशक के बाद आगामी प्रत्येक दशक, 1850 से किसी भी दशक की तुलना में अधिक गर्म रहा है। विश्व मौसम विज्ञान संगठन के महासचिव पेटेरी टालस के इस कथन से भी यह बात समझी जा सकती है - अब तक का सबसे गर्म साल 2016 था, लेकिन जल्द ही इससे अधिक गर्म वर्ष देखने को मिल सकते हैं। यह देखते हुए कि ग्रीनहाउस गैसों के स्तर में वृद्धि जारी है, तापमान में वृद्धि (global warming) जारी रहेगी। आगामी दशकों के लिए लगाए जाने एक हालिया पूर्वानुमान से संकेत मिलता है कि आने वाले पांच वर्षों में एक नया वार्षिक वैश्विक तापमान रिकॉर्ड मिलने की आशंका है।

जिसके कारण के कारणों को दो श्रेणियों में बाँटा जा सकता है- प्राकृतिक और मानवीय। जलवायु परिवर्तन के प्राकृतिक कारणों में ज्वालामुखी, महासागरीय धाराओं, महाद्वीपों के अलगाव आदि प्रमुख हैं।

ज्वालामुखी- ज्वालामुखी की सक्रियता बड़ी मात्रा में सल्फर डाइऑक्साइड, जलवाष्प, धूल कण तथा राख को वायुमण्डल में फैलाने के लिए जिम्मेदार है। हालांकि, ज्वालामुखी की सक्रियता कुछ दिनों की ही हो सकती हैं, लेकिन भारी मात्रा में निकलने वाली गैसें तथा राख लंबे समय तक जलवायु के पैटर्न को प्रभावित करती है।

महासागरीय धाराएं- महासागरों की जलवायु परिवर्तन की प्रक्रिया में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। वायुमंडल या भू-सतह की तुलना में दुगुना तापमान इनके द्वारा अवशोषित किया जाता है। महासागरीय प्रवाह चारों ओर तापमान के स्थानांतरण के लिए जिम्मेदार है। इनकी वजह से हवाओं की दिशा परिवर्तित कर तापमान को प्रभावित किया जाता है। तापमान को अवशोषित करने वाली ग्रीनहाउस गैस का एक अहम हिस्सा समुद्रों जलवाष्प होती है जो कि वायुमंडल में तापमान को अवशोषित करने का काम करती है।

मिथेन गैस का भंडार- आर्कटिक महासागर की बर्फ के नीचे अतल गहराइयों में मेथेन हाइड्रेट के रूप में ग्रीनहाउस गैस मेथेन का विशाल भंडार है जो विशिष्ट ताप और दाब में हाइड्राइट रूप में रहता है। ताप और दाब में परिवर्तन होने पर यह मिथेन मुक्त होती है और वायुमंडल में घुल जाती है। अपने गैसीय रूप में, मिथेन सबसे शक्तिशाली ग्रीनहाउस गैसों में से एक है, जो कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड की तुलना में पृथ्वी को बहुत अधिक गर्म करती है।

ग्रीनहाउस प्रभाव गैसें- वायुमंडल में विद्यमान कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड, मेथेन, जलवाष्प आदि के द्वारा सूर्य के प्रकाश की ऊष्मा के एक भाग को अवशोषित कर लिया जाता है, इस घटना को ग्रीनहाउस प्रभाव कहा जाता है।

जीवाश्म ईंधन का प्रयोग- जीवाश्म ईँधन के प्रयोग के कारण ग्रीनहाउस गैसों खासकर कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड का स्तर वायुमंडल में बढ़ता जा रहा है। लगभग 33% कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड उत्सर्जन के लिए जीवाश्म ईँधनों के प्रयोग को माना जाता है।

जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण पूरी दुनिया पर आपदाओं के बादल मँडरा रहे हैं। जलवायु परिवर्तन के कुछ परिणाम निम्नलिखित हैं-

जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण मौसम में बहुत ही जल्दी-जल्दी और घातक बदलाव होने लगे हैं।

साल 2019 दूसरा सबसे गर्म साल रिकॉर्ड किया गया।

अब तक का सबसे गर्म दशक 2010- 2019 रिकॉर्ड किया गया।

वातावरण में कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड और अन्य ग्रीनहाउस गैसों का स्तर 2019 में नए रिकॉर्ड तक पहुंच गया।

बाढ़, सूखा, झुलसा देने वाली लू, जंगल की आग और क्षेत्रीय चक्रवातों की संख्या में बढ़ोतरी हुई है।

जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण दुनिया भर में समुद्र का जलस्तर बढ़ रहा है। ग्रीनलैंड और अंटार्कटिका में जमी बर्फ के पिघलने की दर बढ़ती जा रही है जिससे समुद्र का जलस्तर बढ़ रहा है।

मालदीव की समुद्र तल से ऊंचाई कम होने के कारण यह द्वीपीय राष्ट्र विशेष खतरे में है। इस देश का उच्चतम स्थान समुद्र तल से लगभग 7.5 फीट ऊँचा है जिससे मालदीव के समुद्र में डूबने का खतरे बढ़ता जा रहा है।

वर्ष 2019 जुलाई के अंत में आए लू के थपेड़ों से मध्य और पश्चिमी यूरोप का अधिकांश भाग प्रभावित हुआ। इस दौरान नीदरलैंड में 2964 मौतें लू से जुड़ी पाई गईं जो कि गर्मी के सप्ताह में औसतन होने वाली मौतों की तुलना में लगभग 400 अधिक थीं।

लंबे समय तक तापमान अधिक रहने के कारण मौसम के स्वभाव में बदलाव आ रहा है जिसके चलते प्रकृति में मौजूद सामान्य संतुलन की स्थिति बिगड़ती जा रही है। इससे मनुष्यों के साथ ही पृथ्वी पर जीवन के लिए खतरा बढ़ता जा रहा है।

जलवायु परिवर्तन तथा ग्लोबल वार्मिंग के चलते उपजे खतरों को देखते हुए ग्लोबल वार्मिंग कारण और निवारण पर साल 2015 में ऐतिहासिक पेरिस समझौते को अपनाया गया जिसका लक्ष्य इस सदी में वैश्विक तापमान वृद्धि को पूर्व-औद्योगिक काल के तापमान से 2 डिग्री सेल्सियस अधिक होने के स्तर से नीचे रखना है। समझौते का उद्देश्य उपयुक्त वित्तीय प्रवाह, नए प्रौद्योगिकी ढांचे और उन्नत क्षमता निर्माण ढांचे के माध्यम से जलवायु परिवर्तन के प्रभावों से निपटने के लिए देशों की क्षमता में वृद्धि करना भी है। जलवायु परिवर्तन के खतरे के लिए दुनिया भर में उठाए जा रहे कदमों को मजबूत करने और तापमान वृद्धि को 2 डिग्री सेल्सियस से घटाकर 1.5 डिग्री सेल्सियस तक सीमित करने के प्रयासों की रूपरेखा के साथ 4 नवंबर, 2016 को जलवाय परिवर्तन पर पेरिस समझौते को क्रियान्वित किया गया।
